  1. if you had that much experience for a job would you expect your sallery to be 20 quid per week?
  2. I wonder how That Leicester team would do in the CCC this season had they played our games? They did well enough to go down last season so my guess is they would be near the bottom. In fact I think there are probably a couple of games that they would have got better results in and a couple that would have been worse. Maybe 1 or 3 points difference so I dont look at them with envy. They went down and good luck to them coming back up. We stayed up and good luck in keeping us up. There are no other comparissons.
  3. I understand what your saying but I just think that at the start of the season the plan would have laid out who the club will want to try to keep and who they could let go. If the gates had been high enough they could just have been a bit more choosey when transfer window comes around. as things stand pretty much any offers will have to be accepted just to keep the bank happy. the board know they still need a team for the 2nd half of the season and if the team we currently have is struggling they wont be keen to let people go without replacements. If that happens then administration will come before the season is over. they also know that if the promising kids come good by the end of the season then they will get more money for them should they still need to sell. I believe that the only thing that will keep our better kids at the club will be higher gates. but i think the eates have been too low already this season so an increase now would be too little too late.
  4. We were about to play the top team in the league and some skate knob posts a thread about wanting us to get beat and I was effected by it. If they posted a thread wanting the board to all get lost in the bermuda triangle but hope we dont look silly against the top of the league then i would have been less effected. Some of the threads got allot of peoples backs up with that being the prime reason they were put there. if that transfers accross 5% of the fan base then within weeks it can turn into 25% of the fan base, and so on. the fan base is diveded already due to years of spin and lots of downers. If lowe was to walk through the doors now with his ideas of making our kids the best in the league, fast passing attacking football, get rid of journy men anl so on. I wonder how many people would be supporting him? the support for either side is usually generated by the odd few voicing there opinions somewhere and in this age an internet forum is a pretty good place to start.
  5. Well said. Although I dont accept your opinion TBF although less in numbers this forum is pretty wide in its range of ideas and support. we all think we know the best way to do things and I doubt there are any of us that know for a fact why decissions are made at the club so we are all working on guess work. The OP made a thread based on 1 or 2 other threads that I believed were no more than skate wind ups that some others fell for hook line and sinker. As saints fans the 1 thing we all need to remember at times is that we all want the saints to do well. how we believe that may happen is what we can debate.
  6. I cant argue with you that no-one wants to see our youth tem play when for so many years we have had teams with several international players week in week out. But right now we cant afford those high class players and if we keep losing fans that go and watch every week then the quality we can afford will get less and less and less until 1 day we are a lowly non league team with players that double up there income working on building sites during the week. Im not saying that we should all pile into the stadium and rescue the club ourselves but at some point I think the fans need to take some responsability and do what they can to make sure this club survives. That point will come when we either get taken over or the team look like promotion candidates or when people get over the fact that Lowe is at our club. If it doesnt happen at all then we will just continue to sink.
  7. In bold
  8. We have been down this road before and the guy that led us here is now snuggled up with the guy he ousted. If that doesnt tell you something then nothing will. There are more than enough money men in our club that should be capable to do the job but none of them are stepping forward to take the flack. Wilde had a go and set us up with an expensive board which in the end got us no-where. Crouch had a go and to be fair he spent to try and get us out of this mess. A crystal ball at the time would have told him not to bother to spend cause we would need the money now but if it had worked he would have been the saviour we all long for. So to anwer your questions: We have tried the current alternatives and ended up in a worse position Its not lowe's spin that is telling us there is no alternative. We have tried and they failed. Who else on the board wants to take the flack for a week team and no budget? You seriously want Crouch back in? What good would he do now? So anyone but Lowe will be better right? How do you know that anyone new would not run things badly or be interfering with the team or bring in some other no-body. If your happy with a no-body running the club why not a no-body running the team? The fact is if Lowe walks today we still dont have someone at the club that has proven they can do things any better. Wilde, Crouch and all the others also know that without some serious investment/take over the clunb have to make some really nasty decissions that the fans will not like and they are all happy to sit back and let Lowe make those decissions cause we all hate him anyway. you watch what happens if our fortunes can get turned around or 1 of the main people gets 50mil dropped in there laps or if Paul Allen turns up in his yaught with budles of cash. They will all turn on ole rupes so quick it will be funny as hell to watch the egotisticle bar steward fall from his seat at the top. He is there cause the others would rather us hate him than them. the sooner they are all gone the better. IMO
  9. I very much doubt all of the main share holders would stand much of a chance but there would be a plenty wanting 1st dibs on Lowe.
  10. an honest account of the situation.
  11. what a load of bollariks. that was never a red card in a million years and if they can take john terrys back to a yellow i dont get how they cant do the same for this. both players had there studs showing but neither was trying to hurt the other player and it wasnt square on. players make mistakes and there can be a come back after the game with video evidence yet when a ref makes a balls up there is nothing and the FA chicken out on any decission that doesnt effect the national squad. Not in the best of moods now.
  12. IMO its common sence. The board know that for us to survive in the CCC we need a football team capable of keeping us up. If they want us to eventually be promoted then they need to make sure we have a much stronger team than we have now. They are not completly stupid IMO. Problem is we have a few things that need to be done 1st. Keeping the bank happy is probably number 1 job. they have gone to the bank with a plan and the bank have accepted it. My guess is that plan included things like getting rid of the high earners. bringing costs below our earnings. and agreeing how much the bank want back each month. Somewhere along the lines the bank would have agreed on how many people through the gate we need to cover what we want to keep. Like i said High earners would be sold no matter what and replaced with anything that doesnt cost much. Any player that doesnt want to stick around would have also been sold as SFC has long had the policy that if you want out, your gone for a long time and I cant see that changing. finally the players that we wouldnt want to see sold would only be gone if there were silly money offers to get them. 12mil for Theo was a silly money offer for someone so young and as much as i think he should have stayed I can put up with him being gone. if a silly money offer was put in for lallana i would probably think the same. where all of this falls down is we havnt had anything near 17000 through the door so we are still going to be running at a deficit that was probably not supported so well by the bank. so come transfer window we will have to be showing some pretty good signs of improvment for the bank to sanction us to refuse some offers. I cant see it happening and i think the 2nd half of the season is going to be a living nightmare.
  13. I will be at that game for sure. its my yearly away match so wouldnt miss it for the world.
  14. Its getting more and more obvious by the day that there will be sales come january because we are not getting the gates to avoid it. If we were hitting 17000 to 18000 every home match from the start of the season then the only sales would have been the high earners, players that wanted out and silly money offers. Which would be the same at any club so there is nothing special about us when that happens. With gates so Low the Banks will want to get there money back another way. If we are still hanging around the bottom 3 by Christmas the banks will be thinking that this approach is not working so pay up while you still have things to sell. If we have improved and can start generating higher gates then the banks might be a bit more forgiving but even still its unlikly. so when we sell in jan its not some master plan of lowes to make his world rosey. its something the club have to do to avoid the banks forcing administration on us.
  15. I think he was saying 6 young players outside of the prem which IMO he is not far off saying that. The biggest worry is that our better youngens will be gone and those moving up from even younger will be miles away from being ready and that is when our relegation fight really goes into hyperdrive. We are nearly bottom because we have gone for a new system on limited resorces too fast and too soon. Its a bit of a flip of a coin because if everything clicked quickly we would all be here raving about why we never did this before. We all new the chances were that it would never be that easy and we have had to put up with seeing signs of the team getting things right in between the team getting things horribly wrong. Its not just the kids who are guilty of that though as last season the old pro's made many of the same mistakes. Being forced to sell our best players comes back to the old catch 22 that we will be in for a very long time. Team not doing well = low attendances = not much money = sell players to keep the banks happy = less quality in the team = team not doing well = low attendances = not much money = blah blah blah. Throw into that ole Rupes and Co still being here and any decission good or bad will be turned into some kind of plot that Rupes has hatched to make him some kind of billionare while annoying the Saints fans for fun.
  16. come on wes give the guy a break. Although his post may be full of holes im sure you can see what he is getting at. We are not all public speakers and just about all of us (mainly me) can go off on one and turn a quick 1 liner into an essay which can be pulled apart and agued against for weeks. I can see what the Op was on about and I too think JP deserves some more time. I think this system/team have enough about them to keep us out of the bottom 3 by the end of the season even though I dont like how gun ho we have gone in implimenting this system. the stats look allot worse than the effort deserves and we are in danger of being under serious pressure come the end of the season. but like you said the next batch of games will be the real telling point. we didnt really expect to get much out of playing the tougher teams in theis league so shouldnt really be surprised with few points right now. there should be a few more than we have but we now have a chance to bang a few points on the board and feel allot more confident for the rest of the season. So im with staying a little positive and believing that the kids can learn enough to turn effort into results and I am even willing to wait to see if JP can get what he wants out of the formation although I dont think we have a striker on the books to really make it work.
  17. did we expect to beat the top of the league team with a bunch of kids? If that was the result after playing the bottom of the league team feelings would be so much worse than they are.
  18. after going 2 down I can fully understand the crowd turning on lowe but did the team not raise there game and show that they might actually be good enough and as such lowe might have pulled a rabbit out of his hat? come the end of the seaason when we are in admin and league 1 I know I will eat those words but you can see my point lol
  19. I understand where your coming from and wont take it any further really as you cant respond till tomorrow. Im not trying to question you as a fan either. IMO we both want the same thing in Rupes gone but our actions or thoughts on route to that are different. at least we can both discuss these views without name calling or abuse like it can get on here. What ever happens I hope that we can start next season in a stronger position and without the dead weight at our club.
  20. To be honest mate I didnt understand much of what you said at all. It all got a bit too political for me. Sorry. I dont disagree with the stay aways as basically we want the same thing in that we want Lowe gone. Im sure we all will have different views on how that should happen though. Personally I think if we can keep the club alive and at the same time remove Lowe and Co while attracting a better alternative then we will have a much stronger club to build back up. Simply staying away and voicing opinions in pubs and message boards is IMO not going to be enough to make a difference. Turning it on its head...... (a few big IFs here so stick with me for a sec) If things do improve on the pitch and results start going our way then I would have thought that a good number of fans will gradually start to return, and in the eyes of the banks RL would continue to get there support and we would be no-nearer gettting rid of him. If the results were good enough to get us within a chance of a playoff place would you continue to stay away? My point being that this "experiment" no matter whos idea it was would to some extent be working and would be in with a chance of providing us prem football again. I wouldnt expect anyone to support Lowe should this be the case but I would expect there to be more fans back supporting the team again. Like I said there are some pretty big Ifs and I am no closer to knowing if any of the above would ever become a reality or not than anyone else. but it would make the stay aways position a little difficult would it not?
  21. but thats my point. if the however many stay aways turned up as per normal except the 1st home match of every month the banks and everyone else would see what support could be at SMS week in week out if RL and co were told to sling there hook and also what support they are missing out on while he is still there. If the banks dont take any notice then the amount of games you stay away from can increase but at least there is a form that the banks can gauge the support on.
  22. I dont think the stay aways because of lowe are making much of a point at the mo as there are too many other reasons that they could be staying away for. If they are going to have an impact then it has to be more visual. protest outside SMS is a possibility but I would have thought the stay aways are sitting somewhere tucked up nice and warm with a pint and the radio so they can still listen to how we are doing. (I dont believe they are not fans so cant believe they dont care) otherwise why not stay away on the 1st or last home game of every month and turn up in numbers to any other home match. It would be far more visual and I think it would gain the support of more people. under 10,000 1nce a month compared with over 17,000 the rest of the time would send the right message. if nothing is done then the protest could move to more than 1 match per month.
  23. I wouldnt say its the fans fault we are in the pooh but there are many fans that wont accept the situation for what it is and that can produce allot of negativity that we could do without sometimes. This board seems suprisingly upbeat considering we lost yesterday.
  24. I agree with that, Most are able to have different views without falling out but there are a few from both sides that draw lots more into heated debates. We could all do with calming down 1nce in a while.
