Wouldnt say its the best football ever and not sure where that idea has come from but when its good it certainly has been better than some of the dross thats been served up in the more recent years. Trouble is as other have said that when its bad it is completly in-effective and almost a waste of time watching. Not even sure if it is the formation that is the problem or the ability of the players to consitantly put the formation and system into effect. We saw against QPR that with good movement and quick passing we can score fantastic team goals and against reading we can make good teams look very poor. But when the players dont do the right things they look like they have all the penetration of a unic.

Sorry I wasnt trying to slate james. Was just trying to point out that he is as much a right back as he is a right winger. The type of strikers we are left with need crosses to come from the bi line and James doesnt provide that. If he is trying to think like a right back and not push too far forward then fair play to him as this position is not his bread and butter. How long did it take Jermaine Wright to start having some OK games in odd positions and he is an experienced profesional? I agree with you on Pekhart and on paper he looks like the player we are missing up front but he hasnt made the step up from reserve team to 1st team and been injured too much to really try and do anything about it. Hasnt Smith been injured too? i think the sky tatter said last night that we have 9 players unavailable due to injury. I was going to try and figure out which ones make up the 9 but never got round to it. But how many of the missing should be in the 1st team should they be fully fit and on form? Svennson and Holmes are the only 2 that I can think of that have the ability i think?

James doesnt get to the bi line though. he had chances last night to push on and cross the ball in but always played the early cross. BWP and McGoldrick are pretty quick and will do better off of crosses that get in behind the opo's defence. Skacel didnt get to the bi line much last night either. he seems to draw lallana, drew, robertson or mcgoldrick out to the edge of the pitch and try to play pretty triangles there and cut inside himself. We need someone in the middle that can deal with crosses and maybe Skacel would deem it worth sticking one or two crosses in.

I think some of it is down to the manager as in he should be giving a team talk before the match that gets them fired up. But FFS I used to play Skater hockey and before every match I was buzzing and couldnt wait to get out there and play. I didnt need someone else tellin me that i need to get motivated. It seems that when the cameras go on too many of our players think of themselves and do to much or not enough. McGoldricks positioning is awful when the cameras are on because i think he thinks that if he stands around in the right places the ball will just fall at his feet and he will get the glory. The only times he has looked like playing well is when he plays the system and does quick pass and move with the players around him. Did he do that at all last night? Robertson was just as bad too. Only time I saw him have a bit of skill was when he went on a mazey run past 2 or 3 players. Trouble is, he was heading for the corner flag and the pallace defence were happy to watch him go no-where fast and just stuck a foot in at the end when he turned to face the goal. i am guessing that we play a million times better when the cameras are off.

Totally gutted about tonights game but still in the positive camp. people are talking about having no plan B but tonight we couldnt carry out plan A. we know plan A can be effective and as we proved against Reading it can take apart even some of the strongest of teams in the league. but simple mistakes causes the inexperience to show through which makes us look like the biggest pile of pooh in the football league. Sky tatters said that they had spoken to JP and he suggested that Euell wasnt on the same wave length as the kids sometimes and thats why the kids are getting his spot in the team sometimes. Not sure if they were talking about tonight or as a general statement. But surley if he is available then his experience should be more valuable when we have games like these. As with before this game 2 or 3 good results could change the whole season and I will put this one down to the sky camera's and expect a marked improvment against Burnly. 1 thing that does worry me is looking completly stupid on tv against Man ure

F'ing hell we need to do our usual and have 1 good half and hope that the 1st half wasnt it!!! Palace seem to have us sust and we dont look like we have any ideas. Although the 1st goal shouldnt have been and the ref could see. Issed right Ucking off right now.

But why is your post any more valid than WC's? Or his more valid than yours? Why does it have to be about criticising heroes? I agree about having a dig at the OS for not informing us a little better but we could have a go at them about that every season since the OS was born and that includes the seasons that Lowe was out of the picture. To jump on every slightest bit of negativity as if it is a conspiricy thought up by Lowe and his merry men is quite laughable and IMO takes away from the decent observation that the OS is a pile of Pooh at times. There are plenty of other clubs I am sure that have an OS that only speaks the positives from within the club and im pretty sure Lowe is not there chairman. If the club is dealing with something then its right that it does it behind closed doors and we find out when there is an outcome. If Skacel being kept out of the squad was down to his attitude or a conflict of ideas or what ever then it would have been much harder for him to be accepted back in the team should the differences get ironed out. We all know that Euell has got better in the latter part of last season and also looked pretty good when he has played this season. But if he is not fully match fit or there is another issue then let the club sort it out 1 way or another and hopefully he will come back into the squad better for it.

Things could be better and they could be allot worse. IMO things are getting better and better and have been since JP came in. Sure we havnt won enough home games but we were letting in too many goals before. That seems to be getting better with a few clean sheets. If we can carry on to progress then we may finish the season strongly and be in a good position next season. This could all get turned on its head and we bail out in everything that is good and finish rock bottom but again IMO we look to be going the right direction at least and for that I share the OP's views.

So if Euell is injured and therefor not available how does that make it all JP/Lowes fault?
-
Things are better with JP this season than you make out. i wouldnt be surprised if we have had more shots this season than we did in the whole of last season. and we are starting to get more on target now too. the signs are there that things are improving but unfortunatly we only have so long in the season to improve enough. Gutted about the result but again the team showed enough about them to suggest they are not far away from pushing up the table a bit.

big LOL'age for that one.

Arse. For all out attacking we dont have the ability to stick it in the back of the net nearly enough. should have killed this one off long ago.
-
did the tatter just say the owls have got beavis and buthead at the back?
-
yeah the 2nd just before half time would have been perfect. other teams have a habit of changing things for the 2nd half and we dont cope so could be a nervy 45 mins
-
you betting on us to lose again?
-
sounded good. owls tatters said owls had the 1st 10 mins but we were in control for the remainder of the half.
-
yeah i said in another thread that i wonder if they will raise there game to try and force a starting spot on the cup team sheet or would they try too hard and mess up. looks like we will benifit so far.
-
were sounding pretty good at the moment. someone slipped something in there pre match drink?
-
Where is Euell???
-
3-1 to us i think. Up the Saints!

Of course the other option would be to spend loads of cash on the acadamy players then watch them leave the club for nothing or very little to continue there carreers elsewhere. Best, Cranie and Blackstock, may have not done that great since they left us but there progression with us may have taken a hit when they were not being played. The idea now seems to be in the 1st team ASAP and make there mistakes and learn there lessons on the fly. Somewhere in between not being played and being thrown in seems to be the area we should have been aiming for and if that could have been done we may have kept hold of these players and they may have been better for it. How good would Lallana, Theo or Bale be now had they not made the break into the 1st team?

Christmas is for kids so unlikly we will all get that as a pressie

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=11024 not saying anything we didnt already know. Wonder whats in part 2?

So will the players try to raise there game in an attempt to be considered for the Man U game or will it all be too much for them and they faulter? Looks like Morgan might be out but Euell should be back in so I will have a guess at the following line up. --------------KD-------------- Cork---Pearce---Perry---Skacel -------Surman--Euell---------- lallana--------------------BWP ------------McGoldrick-------- ----------Paterson------------
