Dont think this system expects that at all. if either side get the ball to the bi-line there should be the front person (mcgoldrick) in the box along with the person in the whole and the person from the oposite wing. add to that the RB or LB on the far side to cover any over hit balls. On paper this system should provide plenty of opertunities in the box if the wide players get to the bi-line and get in some crosses. how often does that happen though?

Would play him ahead of Dyer but that doesnt mean I think he is ready to be on the 1st team sheet. But agree on the other part. not many of our team at the moment are doing what is needed to warrent them getting onto the team sheet.
-
Personally I would play Thompson ahead of Dyer right now. He has looked good on occasions and I think he might benifit from a few simple tactics (get to the bi-line and get some crosses in) and a few games. Dyer seems to put himself above doing anything basic.

Administration is the ONLY way to break this downward spiral

Had Lowe (or anyone) come here for this season suggesting that we need to rebuild and we are going to do it with this dutch style using the kids they would also have said (as lowe has said himself) its not going to be an overnight success. it will take time and allot of hard work. If we were going to buy into this then we would all know its not going to make great things happen in half a season so I dont think we would have been calling for anyones heads. The only reason heads are being called for IMO is because it is Lowe and he has been around far too long to have any sensible ideas or any success. If it wasnt Lowe and we were in exactly the same position now I think there would be plenty of people questioning the credentials of JP right now but not so many questioning the direction we are trying to point. Dont remember seeing anyone think that we are back on track just because we have Lowe and Wilde here, some beleived that they would make the necissary decissions to get the costs back within budget which is something many believe crouch should have done 12 months ago. rumour has it that crouch was going to do the same things that lowe has done this season anyway with the only difference being the managment team. flip a coin on knowing if that would have worked better or worse than what we have though. The only fast track way forward will be investment that buys out the rot that is in our club. IMO that will only last while the team are doing well though and if/when they hit a bad patch the usual mob of us lot will be throwing hissy fits and blaming luvvies and what ev er the other ones are all over again. -

As far as the money goes I think the biggest problem is the gates are not covering our outgoings. Its been touted that 18k at every home game would cover our outgoings so 26k each week would surly put us in a viable position to compete at this level and maybe even beyond. Our turn over last season was higher and the gates were not too different to what they are now so our debt has just got bigger. -
think the idea might have been that he would get back to showing how much potential he had then we could sell him at a profit and save the bank having a fit at us. another decission that didnt go as planned mto add to the rest of the season. mind you if we let him go and he went on to another club and did fantastic we would be hacked off that we didnt sign him up and make some cash out of him. cant win sometimes huh.
-
Think Dyer has been a long way off what was his best form so cant see him being the answer to anything right now. If he got back to his best then he would still only be half way to reaching his supposed potential. IMO its not enough to warrent us keeping him or even putting his name down on the team sheet. If I were in charge and he turned up in January he would have to work his little cotton socks off to prove he even wants to get better before i thought about playing him.

what salz thing though? there has never been anything concrete to say that salz was ever going to be anything at our club anyway. a few people posted on here that he was a successful something or other and he is a saints fan and he has been speaking to crouch. from there on the rumour mill went into hyperdrive on the guy. -

IMO Salz has been built up as some kind of saviour to the club by certain fans who are still in the anyone but Lowe camp. He may be better but he may not and like others have said the critasism is unfair because not once has he himself put himself forward as any kind of new hope or saviour. unfortunatly the only people to have put themselves forward are wannabees and fakes. the wannabees either want there name in the papers or want to buy another club and used us to twist the arms of elsewhere. I dont see Administration bringing anything different either which is why i think it will be more likly that we will start next season in league 1 with a points penalty, less talent and the same people in charge. Not something to look forward to IMO -
I can see where you are coming from but this strikes me as something of a dream situation. We all thought it was going to be miraculasly better when we got rid of Lowe last time and now look at us? So say we go into Administration, What are the realistic chances that we will get rid of Lowe for good? Or any of the others for that matter. Personally I think he will do what ever he can to get back in and try again. He wont say he has failed and he will use it as if it was his plan to get rid of debt all along and rebuild without so much baggage. So quite possibly we will be starting next season 1 league lower with even less tallent and the same people in charge. Gates will be even less and the catch 22 situation will just carry on and on and on. IMO we are stuck with things as they are at the top until things get better on the pitch. If we can get ourselves into a position where we are attractive to possible buyers then that will be our best chance of getting rid of Lowe and the rest of them. I dont care if he walks way thinking he is taking the paudits for an ounce of success as long as someone buys his shares and he is gone for good. This is something else that gets on my nerves a bit too. If Crouch is such an uber fan and has people ready to come in and save the day when we have hit rock bottom, why doesnt he just get it done now before we have drowned? I mean i am not going to be overly impressed with those waiting in the wings for us to go into administration, drop another league and sell anything of value. just to then pop up and make it look like they give a sh1t and claim they will take us forward. FFS if we drop another league I reckon I would be able to step in and take us forward so I dont see why anyone should get that much credit for it. If someone has got the brass cahona's to fix what is broken now then come in and make an offer that lowe and the rest of the muppets will accept and feck off. They wil get much more support from us lot if they put the effort in.

When did he sack pearson? I got no problem having a pop at lowe but I wish people would have a go at him for the right things.

Its very difficult to say what Pearson would have done or what he would have been alloud to have done but i agree on what you say about the current couching staff and who they have brought in. It has been very hit and miss on who has been a success. Maybe Pearson would have had better judgement on possible people coming in and therefor not so many loans coming in to fill out our reserve team and medical room. we are not entirely sure how much the current coaching staff had to do with who was coming in though which raises another question on who is doing what and if they should be doing it. If it is the case that Rupes is our scout and is deciding who we bring in without the coaches input then this must be a reason that all of us can agree on his removal. But I cant see how it can be proved and even if it has any truth what so ever so its almost a non starter. The facts that we can see though is our team are not doing good enough and we seem to be moving in the wrong direction. That in its self has in the past been enough to make changes happen so there should be no reason why it cant happen now. Your idea of removing Rupes is a nice one but I think that as long as he is in the background somewhere there will always be problems. Surly the only way forward will be for a complete removal of him so we are back to searching for someone that wants to pay him and his proxy money for there shares. Feels pretty crap being a saint right now.

But the people in charge are providing there answer and it doesnt look like it is going to be proved to be effective. Im sure Woolworths people in charge tried a few things before they decided to shut up shop and put allot of people out of work over christmas. So the people in charge at SMS have looked at the incomings and the outgoings and tried to model there product to fit into these budgets. If the product doesnt prove to be good enough to sustain within this budget then no doubt they will also decide to shut up shop. In come the administrators and Hopefully the debt can be sorted out. Cheap model number 2 will be born and Hopefully that will be good enough to keep us in what ever league we land in. As much as I dont like what is happening to our club now I dont see how the downward direction is anything to look forward too. So without the people at the top giving us a golden ticket and a clear direction out of it we do look to the customers to see if they have any ideas that would be worth looking forward too. Anyone? What was that about the silence? The club needs solutions not more problems.
-
I dont disagree with that at all. Another thread is suggesting that we are going into Admin in January and if that is the case then the option of spending money is completly out of touch. If there is enough money to have a re-think then surly we are more than ready for it now? It seems that the positives to take out of each game are getting less and less and with only selling off our remaining tallent to look forward to in January something needs to be done to change the direction we are heading.
-
quite amuzing tonight. the team play like they deserved to get 0 points which going on the games from the rest of the season that hasnt happened that often (i mean almost every game there have been at least some positives) and the usual suspects come out with the usual tripe. No doubt had they come out and played a blinder im guessing they would then be the silent ones? The we have no money and what do you suggest tactic???? When was that one ever left alone? When has that changed? We havnt had a serious alternative to friggin support yet so give it a rest of the crap that everyone who doesnt agree with you are lowe appologists please. Its correct that we wont win or go anywhere when we dont score goals and loaning out 2 of the best strikers in the CCC is always going to be a problem. Who ever realised that should work for Scotland Yard as there detective skills are 2nd to none. Lets say lowe walks away tomorrow, we are magically going to start climbing the table huh? Or will not having a decent strike force still be a problem? Say we manage to get him to go? Unless he is gone for good he is always going to be a bloody problem! Another merry go round of shareholders wanting there time at the top will do us what good exactly? We can all see the problems and they are becoming painfully obvious but coming on here harping on about being an uber fan because some can see its all going to sh1te gets us as far as trying to hit a home run with a turd and a tenis racket.
-
Dont think many will find much positive out of that result. Things had shown signs of getting better and it looked like it was just the results that we were missing. looks like they are even further way now. Thing that P's me off even more is I cant see what can realisticly be done about it. Right now I would take anyone that has a spare fiver to keep us out of admin and avoid relegation than carry on in the wrong direction.
-
How bout you go start yet another thread on this one rather than post on a thread thats already open?
-
Its alright saying that but we all know its as likly to happen as us signing the brazil 1st team this xmas. I wouldnt mind us sticking to this system for the whole season if it was showing better signs of improvment but I am losing my rag with it as the same faults apear week in week out. Dont often see Chelsea or Arsenal changing the system which seems similar to what we are trying to do, its the quality of the players than let the system down as they are not good enough to put it into action.
-
I just dont get why we are still such a jeckle and hyde team. after burnly's game of 2 halfs it looks like we are might be doing the same again today. well we have yet to see what we play like in the 2nd half but I am presuming it will be much better than the 1st. WTF has to be said or done before a match to get them all playing positivly from the start?
-
Havnt we been saying that about the defence for the past 5 years?
-
think he has needed to be dropped since very early in the season but right now who should play up front instead of him? BWP has only looked better recently because he has been used further back where he cant go offside all the time.
-
So is Holmes and both havnt been played due to injury so he dont count
-
LOL unfair but funny.

Think thats the problem, wingers they were not!
