LOL. Wonder how he is feeling about the next derby? 2 divisions between us last time. Not so much of a difference now.

I think its funny the way Corp trys to defend his clubs spending as it all being authorised by the FL. But thinking back didnt they pretty much have a squad of players and they deemed half of them not good enough so they let them go? That took them below the required squad limit so the FL allowed them to bring extra players in. So while not against the rules their actions stunk and looked like they were flicking the V's at every opertunity. The problem many of us have with them is not what they actually did, but the way they did it. The moral high ground sits well with us due to the way our club conducted its self when in the poo compared to pompey who did things anyway they could to improve thier position at the expence of anyone but them. So keep on with your approach Corp. Defend your club for acting within the rules. If you actually believed the morals of your club were right you wouldnt see the need to defend it. I think thats why a couple of the other resident pompey fans get some respect. They act in a similar way to what we did when we tried to get out of the points deduction. The rules stated the parent company went under so there should of been no points deduction. The club argued it and most fans agreed with the technicality of it but morally felt it was taking the P*ss so found it hard to properly defend it. Mero and Mack support their club but find it hard to defend some of its actions so steer clear. Happy they still have a club but would maybe like to re-write some of its history. The more smug you act in how your club has fleeced so many the less respect you earn. So technically (at least until the court cases finish) you havent cheated, but morraly you know as well as we do your club is as bent as the Blue Oyster bar.

Slight problem with the bench in that with only 5 players our options are limited. We seem to have several utility players dotted about the squad. Lallana, Guly, Di Ridder, Forte, Cork, attacking full backs and now we have a mixture of strength, experience, youth and height at CB. not much room for specialist replacements on the bench for the likes of Lambert anyway

Dont think anyone fits that statement to be honest. I think the aim from NC is to run the club within its means, create a conveyer belt of top class tallent coming through the academy to supply the 1st team rather than spend big on over priced players from elsewhere, aim to move upwards through the leagues always wanting to do better. If that leads us to mid table prem for 10 years I will be happy like you. I just think that if we get to mid table prem the club wont settle for that and be happy. The club will adjust its goal posts and plan to get into the top 8, then top 6 and onwards. If the club drops a bollock and goes down to 14th or lower actions will be taken to raise our game in the future. Will we be able to create an academy that can supply the 1st team with top class prem players? Will we be able to get into a position where we can keep hold of our best academy players? Without those 2 happening the best we can hope for without spending is a yoyo effect between prem and championshiip. I do think NC plans for the best situation rather than the worst so no doubt he see's Champions League as an ultimate target. Would be nice if he can deliver no matter how silly it sounds now.

It maybe dissapointing but we are trying to find players that are better than what we have or will improve the team without paying extortionate prices like LCFC. Other teams seem to be replacing 75% of their squad no matter what the cost so by comparrison it looks like we have done nothing. Loan window will open and those players outside of 25 man squads will be available and then the january window will be open. By then if we are in a position where promotion to the prem is still achievable we will be more attractive to players that want prem football. Better bargaining position n all that. If we are a way off then consolodate or splash the cash will be the decission. The main aim is to bring the youth through to the 1st team so NC is not going to be spunking wad loads of cash on mercinarys in the near future.
-
I believe he expects us to try but don't thinks heads will roll if we don't succeed. I will be happy if we are pushing for play offs this season but next season I think promotion will be the only target of note.

Just on wages alone he must think its worth it now, Although his twitter account suggests that he went to the Arse for footballing reasons and not to chase money at Man City and the like. The only reason he has had a debut so soon is down to the lack of players available to Wenger, so will be resigned to life in the reserves for a while to come once the injury's are back and new signings are in. I would of thought he fully expects that and still thinks he is in the right place for the future of his career. Now what would be funny is if the Arse have such a bad season with more injurys and players not settling that they end up on the losing side of a relegation fight while we win promotion to the Prem. If that somehow miraculasly happened I wonder what his twitter account would be saying then?

It was a trick question cause I knew the answer!!!! Ha Haaaa Double bluffed you into answering now dont you feel silly!!!! #soboredatworktodayiamnowmakingthingsup

He is on the bench so he says on @HarleeDean in twitter land. Is it 7 subs for the Carling Cup? Could be a strong squad with some chances for the youth from the bench.

No it's an opinion or as I stated several times possible options on what could be the case. The fact that none of us actually know the facts and it seems more people believe the other teams fan (flyer) like he is on QPR's board or something (no offence flyer, just sayin) says to me that any theory we can create could equally be as true. There have been rumours in the past of possible deals that got no-where as soon as player/club spoke to the press. So it's not completely out of the question to dare think the publicity is unwelcome to NC and as such he loses some interest is it?
-
Who's to say had he passed the medical we still would of signed him? Did sharp get as far as a medical? I don't know the facts so just adding an opinion or a possible option. I think the publicity on gorkss and Fontaine would of been enough for the club to lose interest as they like deals to be kept quiet. As soon as it's public the price and demands tend to change. Warnock spouted off a while back about puncheon and then the gorkss rumours started. That was prob enough for NC to have doubts in it's self. As far as another target is concerned, that's just guess work but I would be less surprised if someone like I mentioned turned up out of the blue.

The fans wanted Lowe out because he had continually run the club downwards and failed to bring in investment during the whole time he was there. It was believed by the fans that the longer he stayed the worse it would get until we had no club left to support. he had a slight reprieve when we had our cup final run but even then there were mutterings amongst the fans because the smug tw*t was still at the club. Even then he couldnt attract a buyer or investor. Years of taking a wage and dividends meant the fans had enough and were boycotting to get rid of him. As it turned out he wasnt the only person that should be getting the fans abuse as the board was filled with chancers and the boycotts eventually laid the path to the administration and in turn Markus. When the fans were happy to push the club to Admin the choices were hope someone buy's us or we fold. The boycott was serious, it was aimed eventually at the board and those running the club into the ground with a figure head of Lowe and it was at risk of some very serious conciquences. In hindsight we actually had something to thank Lowe for! Him trying to run the club within its means made us more attractive to proper business men in the long run as we could be bought with less baggage. That is not so easy to see at the time though with so many numpty's at the top trying to take control and run it "their way" until the seems ripped apart and there was nothing left.

All possible. I would be surprised if those mentioned are the only CB's we have been looking at though. Up till now we have signed players from positions above where we are that can go on to do a job now and at a higher level. Gorks and Fontaine dont say to me that they follow in the same theme. Can do a job at this level but could easily become surpless at the next level. I think someone will turn up un-announced from a top teir italian, dutch, french or german club that is proven at a higher level but finding it hard to get a switch straight to the prem. The delay's on Gorkss and Fontaine will have been due to waiting for the 1st choice CB. As long as that one doesnt fall through then it doesnt matter about the rest.
-
I'm with Tom28 too. If Warnock doesnt see a future for Gorks in the prem then whats the point of us giving him a 3 year contract? Not likley to happen but if we made it to the prem this season then we still have to look for a prem CB while paying for another 2 years of Gorks contract. Maybe the 3 weeks was spent weighing up our options and looking at the possible position we may end up. If there is money to spend on a CB then making sure you have one that can cut it in the league above seems a sensible option. Jemmel or what ever his name was seemed the right type of player we should be looking for and Gorks/Fontaine are lesser alternatives. Settle of those or see what else is about? Im glad we seem to be doing the latter.

Maybe the question should be "IF Puncheon resolves his problems with the club and Adkins gave him a chance to get back in the squad and possibly the 1st team, would he be accepted back by the fans?" Its never going to be down to us but some of the answers on this thread sound like the poll will decide if he comes back or not. If asked if I think there is a way back then its probably no, if there was a way back I would of thought it would of been last season. But if the club and him work things out then I would be happy to see him back and contributing. Even if on his part it was a way to put himself in the shop window. He is good enough to be in the squad based on ability so if Adkins gave him another chance then so would I.
-
Usually when a player falls out with a club they are shipped out ASAP. In the old days they would be sent train with the youth until they learn to fit in with the team. His best way to something better would be to train hard and earn a place in the team, do his job and be rewarded with a move somewhere else or a good contract with us. I quite like the way the club have handled it, obviously something happened or he would be in the 1st team and not on the outskirts. So for the club to go back to old school tactics is quite refreshing. Its down to Puncheon to build the bridges if he so wishes. Seeing that he is getting games in the under 21 side is a good sign though. If the management team decide he should be abck in the squad then I would be happy enough.

Anyway...... the deal has fallen through and I take it no-one has any clue why. Could it be that the club have a better option lined up so either pulled out themselves or offered a crap deal so he pulled out?
-
Not sure if already postyed but one of the Academy nippersjust tweeted to say he thinks he saw Fontaine at the training ground.

With yet another ignorant post I can hear everyones head thud on their desk. Not comparing clubs or situations or anything in this. I just find it amazing that despite several people pointing out organised boycotts and protests you still refuse to accept an obvious reason for our numbers dropping. Several people have agreed with you in that numbers dropped cause of the poor product along with boycotts and protests and many more reasons yet you just completely ignore there ever was a boycott. I get the idea that no matter what way it is explained you will never get it and will continue to argue your pointless drivel until the thread is closed before death by boredom happens. We know there was a boycott at our club and have pointed you to the facts. We know your fans have not boycotted your club and are just fed up. That in it's self shows up the press banging on about the best fans in the world which is where this argument stems from. But for the sake of a raise in suicide attempts can we move on from this as it looks like you don't want to accept facts any more than we want to accept you don't have webbed fingers and toes.

I must have misheard all the anti lowe songs and misread the anti lowe banners all over the place then. People just stopped going because it wasnt very good at saints and had naff all to do with lowe being at the club. I also must of imagined the gates increasing during the time that lowe was out of the club, or maybe it was pure coincedence? The club was doing bad and everyone pointed the finger at Lowe. many of the fans that boycotted home matches did so because Lowe was at the club and it was down to him that we were in the position that we were. We have our fair share of plastics that didnt go because they didnt want to see our youth team get stuffed by 3rd teir teams and plenty of people that prefered to spend their hard earned on more worthwhile things. But how you can argue that there was no boycott associated with lowe is beyond me. I know you follow a lesser club that was having its 5 mins in the spot light n all but I am amazed that you choose not to see the wood through the trees on this. Argueing for the sake of it just makes you look like a tool so i suggest its probably worth dropping and finding something else to debate about. How do your supporters feel about the club spending out on expensive players while it continues to side step paying back the locals?

Including SFC Steward Slapping a Fan (Video of Post-Match)
saintjay77 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Knowing the what is supposed to be the reasons behind it all I would like it to be left where it is with no further punishment. Unfortunately her actions could of just stirred up a problem with fans close by but not close enough to know what it's all about could of turned on the stewards as the enemy. It's probably the wishy washy way the country is that would be behind fans thinking they are ok with standing up to police and stewards so catch 22 n all that. Her saving grace is probably how it was dealt with by her colleagues as their actions stopped the situation getting any worse. Slap on the wrist for her to show the club has done something and a re-think on how fans are dealt with after matches would be the sensible outcome IMO -
I'm sure all on the bus together could be done with something like the frog chorus tune. Singing adkinisms would be unique to say the least.
