  1. that gets on my t1ts too but unfortunatly its the FA's great idea for the prem reserves to have a league of there own and everyone out of the prem get there little leagues based on area's or something like that. Didnt we win the reserves league last year when we were stil up against prem opo? Nothing to really sing and dance about but its a kick in the teath to be beating prem teams then get new opo's in Lews and Aldershot. EDIT: Someone has already ansered.
  2. Ive always had replys from both GH and who ever took over. Not tried in a while though so that may be a new policy they have.
  3. I still go there and see whats going on but dont expect much so dont often get disapointed by it. Only think that gets up my nose about it is the way it does more advertising that information. Even some of the reports end with some sceme they have going where you can cough up some money to have them do something. It may be great that they are offering there physios and facilities to the general (ones who can afford it) public but I think they need to keep there scemes off the main page where wee want to read about our team.
  4. I think its more likley that the opo's defence wont have planned to mark up the other teams keeper so he is either more likly to be unmarked or give a few defenders the confusion of knowing if they should stick with there man as planned or try to cover the keeper too. they should train to cover defending against almost the whole team as there would usually be at least 1 midfielder near the half way line and the opo's keeper back in there goal. Everyone will get a man or a zone to cover but the keeper joins in and itr causes problems. We got stung last season was it? neimi also nearly bagged a winner in 1 of our games too i think.
  5. LOL brilliant. While it does highlight the lack on 1 persons vision Stanley cant be singled out for having his views as there are many who share them. Not saying he is wrong in his thinking the same as you or I cant be wrong to think what we think. I did try however suggesting that our track record of british managers didnt leave allot to be desired but didnt get a response either. We did also have WGS and Hoddle who make that list look a little better but it doesnt take away from the fact that being British means diddley squat
  6. I think thats my point. We as fans of a top flight club for over 30 years expect more of our team and our fortunes. For years we proved many wrong yet now we cant seem to get anything right. its not like we have ever really been a fantastic team yet we allways expected fantastic results. Now we are in the same position but lower down the league yet our expectations are still looking for managers like Hoddle, Reid, Ince, Venables, Davis, WGS, Dowie and many more profile managers. Im affraid we are stuck with the dregs and its going to be hit and hope on finding one that can do enough to break into that standard of manager that people deem to be decent.
  7. I dont think the fans of a football club are that much different to the customers of say Woolies. When the administrators were called in for Woolies no doubt they tried to sell the company but someone would have looked at the out goings compared to the incomings and decided on weather it was a risk worth taking. Anyone looking to buy us will no doubt look at the worst case scenario and decide on if they can cover the cost of running the club when times are bad before they will work out if they can make any profit on buying us. So right now we have a core fan base of about 10k, that is not enough to cover the costs and we will continue to hemerage money. history tells us that even when we got rid of RL last time there was not a flood of fans coming back to give us a core fan base of anything more than breaking even. So with a week team we have a week following whilst paying out for prem facilites. IMO it doesnt look like it will attract many people. Leeds managed to keep a good following even when times got really tough so it was always worth buying even with the massive points deductions. As long as that fan base stays loyal there is enough money coming in to keep the club afloat. from there they can work on a plan to get them back up through the league and in time I think they will do it. What chance do we have of coming back from administration?
  8. but that is hardly suprising given our track record for the untried. Our patience has run out and I think only results can change the way we feel. I very much doubt that there are many managers that would be both affordable and instantly accepted right now.
  9. I think I am with you on that one. I will be more than happy if he can do the business and the team will get my support no matter who is in charge. He only has a contract till the end of the season so if all goes bad we we wont have to put up with him next season. Fair points from Holland, like I said I havnt dug into his past too much but guessing from some of his appointments figured he was regarded somewhere for something. If we just wrote off managers for there past results would we have ever warmed to WGS? I think generally most fans will get behind the team/manager if they look to be moving in the right direction dispite what they may or may not have done in the past.
  10. The only way we will stand a chance will be if one of our players finds some shooting form. There all getting good at hitting the posts and shooting wide but we need at least 1 of them (last season it was John and the season before it was Saga) to go on a run. Even the reserves had the same problem last night and that was with 9 1st teamers against the reserves of the bottom of the barrel. It worrys me that the longer it goes on the more pressure there is on the strikers and the more pressure then the less they will perform.
  11. yeah I dont understand where they were going with that one. There was talk about him coming before GB and he didnt get it, then to later join the club but in a less of a job is a bit strange. But I dont think we will ever find out what the thinking behind all of this was. On paper his CV doesnt look great with relegations and problems but I figured he was still fairly well regarded in Holand which suggests to me that not all that went wrong was down to him. To use Pearson as an example if we went down last season his CV would show 1 relegation but would any of us blame that on him? The damage was done before he got here and although I dont think he done anything spectacular with us I wouldnt have thought Scolari would have done any better so IMO he would be able to hold his head high. I dont know enough about Wottes History to know if any of that fits with him but it is another possible way to look at it.
  12. Was he not in charge of the dutch under 21's? Also have a spell at Feyenord? Im not trying to big him up as anything special but figured he was meant to be a better choice than JP. Why JP got the nod ahead of him I will never know but if that is the standard of manager we are aiming for then god help us. I have said before that I can understand/support the direction the club is trying to take but I think the ingredients are all wrong for it to be a success. Build a strong club from the bottom up attracting the top youth players and bringing them through into our 1st team. That way we get a strong team with some good saught after players without paying loads out on big money signings. Great idea in theory but a mamoth task in practice.
  13. That would explain why we havnt scored then.
  14. to be fair the report suggests we have had plenty of chances and should have had a hatful of goals. Cant be mistaken for the 2nd string of any team other than the saints can it?
  15. it is the ex man u fagan too. 1st half report is up on the OS. EDIT: Only mentions Fagan 1nce int the 1st half so I guess his trial is not going as well as he may have hoped?
  16. But does a so called good english manager command a price higher than that of the same level foreign manager? I mean it happens with the players so I am guessing its the same for managers. Someone mentioned Ince earlier as he did well with MK Dons and he knows English footy, would be cheap as opposed to tried and tested decent managers but would he be as cheap as a foreign manager of the same pedegre or level as him? We are not a club that turns over huge sums of money so we will never be able to afford the top managers. We will always be in the position that should we need a new manager it will probably be either an unknown or someone that has failed elswhere. Its the only ones we can afford TBH. GB had something to prove as did WGS and Hoddle. Gray, Wigley, Sturrock, Pearson, Dodd and Gorman all were nothing more than punts. I can accept being in this situation and until we can fill a 60,000 seater stadium anywhere in the world I cant see it being much different. The problem we have is that the track record of those in charge has seen more failures than success so we have no trust that any decission they make will work. I dont think the board have done anything out of spite but they have made the wrong decissions too often. I dont see how that will be any different no matter who is in the board but that shouldnt be the debate. If we do change Again! then I worry that we will just be another step further into the barrel and the cheap options will just get cheaper. At some point we will all either have to walk away for good or support the choice that is made and accept that for what it is. Cant say I like it but cant do anything about it either as I cant afford to buy the club.
  17. The problem with most of those suggestions is that most take money to get them and keep them. The others didnt cost much but the club that employed them took a chance on an unkown. Whilst JP was the wrong choice or maybe here at the wrong time it is still too early to know what good or bad Wotte will do. Its only been 3 games and after the same amount of games under Pearson (another unknown) we didnt realy see anything to suggest we would survive then and he had a much stronger team to choose from. Wotte has experience and with inexperienced players so in some ways this job is right up his street. I would have rather Pearson still been here but as the change was made and with the benifit of hindsight maybe RL should have just gone with Wotte and not JP?
  18. Correct me if I am wrong but wouldnt they need to be in charge to have the chance to put someone in charge? The way I see it they dont have enough shareholder support to make that happen. How many shares has LM got now-adays?
  19. Because all the "Other" british managers we have had have been fantastic success' here and where ever they have gone since? Also your opening post sounds like its been made at the end of the season when its been confirmed that we are down. There are still 1 or 2 of us who think that we will either do just about enough or there are 3 teams that will do worse (a bit like last year) but does that not fit in with the Lowe Out theme? Personally I think if we want him gone we wont do it on the back of the manager/team doing crap. We will only do it on the back of finding someone that will by the t1t out.
  20. Im thinking similar to this. Only Plym will be in the mix while I think Watford might survive. By the sounds of it we played well enough for a result yesterday so I will carry on hoping that the results will follow in time to save us.
  21. Fair comment as we were not there I suppse but McG hasnt exactly been on a scoring streak all season so its no wonder why many wonder why he gets on the team sheet. did he ever look like scoring at all today?
  22. thats what I am saying, he doesnt seem to do any of the above. I have lost count of the ammount of times match reports said he had the ball in good positions yet still managed to miss the target, yet i never read he made space or battled or played a killer ball. I dont doubt that someone has spotted potential in him and maybe 1 day he will become a good striker but he seems to be learning nothing as long as he is automatically picked when he doesnt deserve to own a footy shirt. a spell on the bench getting some desire to prove a few people wrong might give him the kick start needed but there is no sign of it. feck me I am 35, cant jump, cant run and never played footy at any level and im sure I could do more in a game than McG can right now!
  23. I know Saga was banging them in before the Shef game but did he really play that bad against Shef? and did McG really play that much better today? I can understand McG being sucured a place in the team if he was making space for others to score or getting assists but it seems like he is doing none of those. Only thing that keeps him slightly ahead of BWP is he doesnt get caught offside! But right now I would rather applaud BWP for at least trying to go forwards than applaud McG for doing abso-fookin-lutly nothing every game!
  24. LOL I can try to stick up for him one some things but isnt the thing about strikers is that the good ones can put the ball in the back of the net? On paper we do have Rasiak, John, Saga, Mule, BWP, Patterson, White, Boyle and some kid called McGoldrick and Bristol have some guy called Adeboloio or something so maybe thats what he means?
  25. yet he is still the one that is put forward to lead us by a majority of the shareholders. that suggests to me that the people who can make a change believe he is the best option we have in this situation. watch how quickly they stab him in the back IF someone with a bit of money or a better plan turns up.
