  1. A six fiigure sum has been accepted by Liverpool for Anderson (loaned to Swansea for their promotion year, then NF this season).
  2. Well, I'm sure there would have been a drop in attendance figures but what happen was rather stark in comparison to other clubs 26% vs 1% (I think). Even against similar clubs (size and recent relegation) the drop was around 10%. Ours was one of the worst. Yes with better results, attendances would have at least been maintained. I think it gave false hope that that amount of money could be spent, we were not in that much financial trouble and there was a lot of biging [sic] the frormer france u-19s captain up.
  3. I'm not sure how much influence Crouch had on affairs while he was involved while on the board, however he did make the decision to back Wilde in the beginning and pay-off the execs at the end of his time. His money is helping to keep the club in existance at the moment. Wilde was the catalyst that sped the decline which Lowe created by losing focus of the main objective (support first-team football) with his pet projects and the dutch revolution. Dave Jones was the CFO throughtout although I don't know his powers of veto so not sure of his influence or whether he just towed the line, however, Dicko seems to know more but will not let on. It is fair to say we could have been in League 1 with Lowe, but still with a club. It then comes to a point were a club this size has too many ongoings to support so assets would have to be sold. It's more difficult to see how it would have gone under Leon as cut backs were required - at least more would fans would have turned up and the 81% of turnover on player salary would have gone down with the return of the expensive loans that helped our survival in the CCC last season. It would have been interesting to see Pearson have a go at running the team as well.
  4. Good for you, I like your reasoning... there was me think Lowe masterminded everything Jones did and it was the otherway round
  5. If we are proportioning blame, then this is what I think: Wilde: 50% (set the course for disaster and then ran like a rat etc) Lowe 30% (ego got the better of him - he didn't actually know best) Askham: 11% (blinded by money, not what was best for the club) Crouch: 4% (caught between a rock and a hard place for a choice who to back but at least is providing funds in our hour of need) Barclays: 5% (don't understand their desire to pull the plug over a small amount having unilaterally reduced the overdraft last summer)
  6. Nice to see a club achieve something they set out to do. Has anyone seen the proposed stadium? At £93m it cannot be out-of-the-box like SMS. Still as the article states "The majority of the funding is to be provided in the form of interest-free loans" so that's quite a debt for a league one club.
  7. I thought the George Reynolds stadium was owned by Darlington.
  8. Don't get knocked by these sensationalised media sound bites. It's not over yet.
  9. That was mooted, but cannot remember where I saw it or whether it was rational!
  10. This is from the Football Leagues statement when imposing the ten point penalty: "...In light of all this advice, the Board concluded that an administrator had been appointed in respect of the Club or part of its undertaking or assets. Accordingly, it was left with no alternative other than to invoke its 'Sporting Sanctions' regulations and apply a 10 point penalty to the Club. The other provisions of The League's insolvency policy also become effective." So I think they can do what they want and we're likely to be totally screwed with other penalties coming our way if debts are not paid in full!
  11. is that their first name or surname?
  12. York 3.45 Waffle
  13. Same age as me. Condolences to family and friends. I hope the young lad that was seriously injured pulls through.
  14. That's the trouble with a plc, it has shareholders to please in the way of dividends and he was one of the highest paid chairman in the EPL. Unfortunately, money was put into other schemes other than first team football. Some well thought out (the academy - although we were previously doing OK), others not (radio, finance companies, SCW etc).
  15. lol! when fear takes a grip, the risk assessment goes out of the window... oink oink.
  16. 1.5 weeks ago, however it doesn't change the fact it was needed to be considered (perhaps now complete) because of the whole situation with the club and current economic climate.
  17. NO! The case against can be seen with Darlington at the moment as the administrators have reject the one and only bid for the club.
  18. This is what has been reported in the press... Administrators trying to sell Southampton have begun drawing up contingency plans for liquidation after saying the club has only a short window to find a buyer. Talks are continuing with a number of 'serious' parties according to Begbies Traynor. These are reported to include a pair of Guernsey businessmen. The club has traditional links with the island. 'The situation is fluid,' said Mark Fry of Begbies Traynor. 'I'd like to remain confident that the club can be sold before we get right to the wire, but at the same time I do not want to get people's hopes up. We naturally hope that a sale will be achieved, but there is always the danger that none of the interested parties will make an offer.' He said he was working on 'potential contingencies' should a buyer fail to materialise.
  19. Considering the turnover in players we've had in three seasons - something like 100 players - I don't think there has been any that could build a relationship with fans to be considered "heros"! Time to stop that trend and hope the management team are good enough to build a squad of about 25 players with the youngsters filling in when injuries hit.
  20. I can confirm that as I know a company that deals with both clubs. RR is also despondent about the gates at Coventry (12-15k) and there was talk that he was still interested in the Saints when SLH went into admin.
  21. If we had stayed in the Championship, we could have expected £2.9m revenue from the new television deal which starts at the beginning of next season, whilst we can expect a few hundred thousand pounds in League 1
  22. "If Southampton do not find a buyer soon, the club may have to go into liquidation and be re-formed. In that case the rules of football require that a club drops two divisions. Saints have already been relegated to League 1, so that would mean them starting again in the Conference. The chairman of the Conference, Brian Lee, has now confirmed that they have been sounded out about the possibility of Southampton playing in their competition next season. He told the Non-League Paper, 'We haven't actually been officially approached as such, but the question has been asked.' The idea of the former Premiership club having a derby match with Salisbury City does stretch credulity. Nevertheless, it emphasises the urgency of concluding a deal for the Saints before too long." from footballeconomy.com
  23. I think that is one reason why there is a holding company as it has additional legal powers than that of just a football club as a member of the league.
  24. The League can say and more or less do what they please. It's a question of how far they push before a club takes action. Afterall, if we want to play in their League next season we have to bend over backwards and say yes please hence the reason other clubs have taken the hit rather than go out of the league. I'm not sure why or if Luton could not have started in the Conference though.
