Sad to see him go - but pleased for him as he said he was keen to go when this first came up. A few players will be relieved at not having to face him when playing us. Bona sort Ori Ps - Saints ...If you cant make the pre season Girona game at SMS - make it early July at theirs so I can pop along whilst on holiday down the road .

I was selfishly more interested in them getting the 1 point and not the 3 to hop over us😜

Andre Mariners magic watch let the bigger team keep playing until they score - Pope was only down for a minute at most………stand corrected 1min 25 secs

Man City are right on it and a pleasure to watch.

Bell ends at festivals V's Bell ends at football matches

Especially if you decided to let your bird get on your shoulders for a better view. …………. Being in the vicinity of anyone about to “mount up” you were moving away because you knew a downpour of biblical proportions was coming your way and every drop encased in metal. -
Should add the Mascot in the tunnel to the above list. 😁

Roberto Martinez hopped out of a car at the ground last night. Figured he’d come to take a look at young Lavia.

I’d imagine after binning of Puel, Pellegrino, then Hughes - there was not much left in the budget to bin another after Leicester - then the Man Utd one, when you look back at the circumstances with Saints emotion removed we were heading for a tough night before the team coach left Southampton: and in little over a minute the rest is history.

I thought Garth Crooks had been binned off from the BBC or was that just his presence on TV, and allowed to do his team of the week. Having just seen his Team of the Week on the Beeb website prompted the question - His choices were predictable. Thankfully none of the Saints team warranted inclusion having been “hammered” by Utd - so not touted about every club with money to spend as a result.

I was reading bits of this to Mrs JBS this morning and she said all through the second half you couldn’t see the stairways in the United section, nor could you see any stewarding even attempting to clear the steps let alone any steward in their section apart from at the top of the stairs down to the concourse. “surely that’s a bigger threat to the stadium safety certificate” - “that isn’t going to be solved by closing Itchen North”.
-
Just as an aside - I wonder what action they will be taking with those 2 nippers who decided to run on the pitch from the Kingsland - no doubt triggering the beer soaked loon United fan to have a run about too. They rounded up the Kingsland kids pretty quickly with differently attired stewards, the Dad of one looked like he was about to kick off when they wouldn’t just give the lad back to him. Obviously not aware of this seasons clampdown on pitch incursions and flares. Both Dads and kids were marched towards the naughty boys room under the Northam. They might have got the smoke bomb owner too, as a couple of of folk were also being marched along the front of the Northam towards the tunnel.

So what’s the plan, clear out the “oiks” who whip up the oppos fans and make that section the family stand in yet another misdirected social experiment to quieten a band of boisterous travelling fans, and make them behave better.

Own goal would be nice 😁

As they were saying on the radio driving home - games are going to be coming thick and fast. I’d stick with what we put out today, maybe change out Moi and play Djenepo in front of Perraud. Moussa seems to have clicked.

Man of the Match: Southampton v Man United
John Boy Saint replied to The Kraken's topic in The Saints
Close call ABK won my vote - Lavia will have a Stellar career. Mrs JBS commented that the new boys in the team, look to be competing against each other in trying to do better than the other newbies. -
Didn’t think we deserved to lose we were so much better the majority of the game - looking at the players we now have on the pitch that result looks like it’s going to smart. As has been said already we just lacked a clinical edge, that could be done to the youthful age of our team, getting too excited when it came to shooting. Few numpties calling out JWP, actually sat in the stadium watching, his game was giving Lavia his head and plugging his gaps letting him grow. Salisu and Kotchup are beginning to gel nicely. They are both nippers in that position and looked tidy. With Lavia at the tip of the triangle can only get better. Baz between the sticks is beginning to bed himself in, the consistency with which he pinged balls out to Che was impressive. Driving to the game some Trout on Radio 5 said we were going down, “sorry”, what I have seen these past few games if we fall through the trapdoor I will be shocked………………..still 34 games left so plenty of time to be Saints.

At the Leeds game the pitch looked ok , then at the Ladies game the weekend after it was notable how scabby it looked, then today back in our usual seats you could see it had gotten a little worse. When fixing grass it always looks worse before improving. Few golf courses locally battling the same virus, but most catching it early, as the greens are treated like new born baby’s plus - they don’t need some of the more sarky members in their ears - grass is a science.

I thought that too - must be cheaper as the red stripe down the middle is thinner 🤪

Funny reading recent comments on here, when my Facebook fired up this morning, I had a memory from 5 years ago of an away day at Huddersfield in amongst the comments was one from a longtime Saints fan, and the conversation was quite heavy on how pants he was that afternoon……….struck me how nothing much has changed.

I was listening to a bit of that on the short drive back from Golf - sounded like a full on game. Me being a bit late back there was no chance of wrestling the remote off Mrs JBS who was well into the cricket.

Maybe the new backroom crew have analysed his performances and told Ralph what he needed to be told - OR Whilst clearing out Kelvin and Daves den, they found those photos in the brown envelope he taped under a desk.

That league cup tie at SMS the year they got promoted has to be the best night under the lights at St Mary’s ever. The place was rocking and the atmosphere was crackling. The tried drowning out the crowd by turning up the PA and totally failed - it’s was loud and toxic in the right way.

Good to see Payne and Ballard seizing the opportunity.
