Just remembered that goal he scored against Everton just as the added time announcement was finishing.

Always first choice at left back in worse Saints team discussions. . . . . . His cause was not helped by being given Franny's number 3 shirt.

Cul-de-Sac or Crop Circles Fernandes. He was one of those skilful but frustrating players with a bit of an attitude (ignoring WGS at the Cup Final). When Lee Hoos was with us he told a story about the stubbornness of Fabrice while he was at Fulham. The Fulham team bus was stuck in traffic on an away trip after about an hour most of the team had worked out that the Hotel was just round the corner so decided to walk and let the bus and their stuff catch up later. Everyone got off the bus except Fabrice who refused to get off and walk because walking was beneath him and the bus was there to take him to the hotel. 2 hours later the bus and him got to the hotel as the rest of the team were finishing dinner.

Bit of a shame really as he had a very brief moment of fame in a Saints shirt. At least when he is old and grey he can tell his grandchildren that he played football in the premiership.

Blimey Charlie, all these paper saviours of the mighty Saints are beginning to blur into one steaming Pile................!!

Big bugger like that would have been in his element in our current league

If this means that we can attract the best young talent within the 1 and 2 hour travel limits, producing players like Adam and Alex to populate the teams of the future instead of paying Mickey Mouse money then this is money very well spent.

Was he the one who looked like a Scarecrow, and had the blind misguided decision to play in Gold boots at Old Trafford in our relegation season.

Strange I have never had any issues flying out of Southampton I always find it so much less hassle than flying out of Gatport Airwick of Heathrow. The only mither has been when I have forgotten to decant all my wash bag goodies into a clear bag. But 95% of the time they have just let it slide. You never know they could have had someone from on high observing with them when you went through. Still a bit of civility never goes amiss. Guangzhou airport China do not let you take even 1 lighter in you hand baggage. I had forgotten to pack it in my suitcase so buried it in my cavernous briefcase. My bag went through the machine at great pace and the girl said seconds after it disapeared please remove the lighter from your bag (it was only just leaving the machine) and smiled she was so pleasant about it. Super efficient very polite.

We seem to have acquired a collection of Players called Dan, which must make training interesting, as despite the official site player profiles showing variations of the name. Dan Harding, Danny Butterfield, Daniel Seaborne, and Dany N'Guessan are going to get their names abbreviated to Dan, Danny, or Danno by the nature of footballs traditional naming. Be interesting to see how many other teams have, or had, a proliferation of players of the same name in the first team.

Yoou beauty!

N'Guessan hasn't played for a while perhaps he is being eased in and saved for Saturday.

Being a goalie is not easy, he can only play in one position. When you think the volume of shining lights we have had playing in the Academy teams but not quite made the step as they got older, then folks like Benali who started out as a striker but found himself bedded in at left back, Bridge the same winger to left back, Bale left back to winger. Guly plays where NA tells him to. Unfortunately Goalkeeping must be the hardest position to wait for there are only 92 number 1's in the league whereas we probably have 4 or more options for left back etc at present. Whilst I might have been harsh in closing my previous post, if you are number 3 goalie at a team you have really got to be pushing the number 2 hard. Bart obviously is very well placed to have been chosen to play between the sticks in a game like Saturdays where in most teams when the top team in the land comes to town all the key positions are filled by the regulars.

That Scott Bevan seems to have eventually made it back into full time footie after moving on from us ages back. Nearly died at Tamworth when he got a kicked by an opposing player which shattered his Kidney. Now on his 12th club Torquay where he seems to be doing alright. Like someone else said goalies don't seem to come into their own till they hit 30 and Scott is 31 now. When Tottenham unloaded Tommy and we gave him a 5 year contract, they must have been wetting themselves with laughter at our naivety.

Some folks on here really live in fairy land. Moan groan and whine on, yes we have a fantastic stadium and everything about the club appears all glossy and smart. But in reality we are a league ONE team, sooner of later the penny is going to drop that we will not be signing Torres, Maluda, Messi, Fabregas, Xabi or anyone of that ilk for quite a while. As for all the slagging of our latest signing, again some folks are like sheep just going with the herd, or so they believe. Guly looked a pile of poo when he first turned up, now everyone sings his name. Puncheon looked the mutts nuts at MK when played against them, we bought him and a few displays apart the guy could not hit a cows backside with a Banjo overall. Chaplow could not get a look in at Preston when Ferguson Jnr rocked up there, gets a loan spell with us then signed because he been an excellent performer for us. Claus had never scored for us until Sturrock had a few words with him. MLT greatest player ever in a Saints shirt, yet when Hoddle turned up all of a sudden he was no longer worthy of a starting place in the team. For the slow ones: anyone see the theme here? Every manager has his way of doing things and certain players fit in with this style and others do not, so while some signings may be reported as goodbye to bad rubbish from the relevant fans forums. That very same player can be instantly transformed by the system the manager who has bought him plays.................... So let's give young Forte a fair crack of the whip, before we all pass judgement on him (oh and that is more than just one game)!

Transfer deadline day thread!
John Boy Saint replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Looks like Holloway is building another team to test the patience of the FA with another weakened side. Today's business has seen him pick up an alleged non conformer, a perennial crock, and tubster.
