  1. Thank you for your good wishes. Yes I am having it done at Southampton General. 55 years of watching Saints has taken its toll on my heart! Hopefully I will be back in my seat in Block 30 for the first match of next season!
  2. Don't mean to trump you but I am actually having open heart surgery at the end of the month! I could hardly watch the last 20 minutes!
  3. So 5 Saints managers who see him in training and on the pitch every day plus several England Youth, Under21 and full England all pick him - they are all wrong and you are right?
  4. Although I would agree with most of that (I would exempt Austin from criticism and I think that Gabbadini has been mis-managed) I think that it ought to be put into perspective. Most other teams have spent big money on disastrous signings including some of the managers that are regarded as 'legends'.
  5. Which fixture do you think is most attractive for the FA for their showcase match - Man U v Chelsea or Manu v Saints?
  6. Enjoyed the match but apart from Jake Hesketh not many are ready for the first team yet. Having said that I thought Callum Slattery, Ben Rowthorn, Michel Obafemi and Jake Vokins showed promise. The two centre backs Alfie Jones and Aaron O'Driscoll did well but apparently are out of contract at the end of the season.
  7. Well said.
  8. When he played last season alongside Maya I thought, after a tricky start that he looked like developing into a very good player. His weaknesses in his heading and positional sense was obvious but with a dominating CB alongside him I thought he would develop. Sadly though this has not been the case. He tackles well, is good on the ball and can make decent passes but his weaknesses are still there. Maybe be would make a decent defensive midfielder although his reading of the game and positional sense again may let him down in that position. I so much want him to do well but I feel that he has reached his limit and his limit is not good enough.
  9. Wasn't he the ref in the home game that gave us that dodgy last minute penalty?
  10. I cannot ever recall a manager criticise his players for lack of spirit before. What the F do you think your job is C..T For God's sake GO and GO NOW. Surely someone is available to get us over the line this season and we can sort it out next season.
  11. Same here.
  12. O agree about Beatts. Yet another player that was never the same after he left Saints.
  13. I agree simply because everyone knew that we had a bad team in the Double Dutch era We have good players now which the manager cannot them to play in a coherent, organised way to the best of their ability.
  14. What is the point of suggesting our lineups? The Clown will play his own chaotic negative way, destroying the confidence of good players and plunging us closer and closer to the abyss that is the Championship. I have not felt so apathetic since the days of Branfoot.
  15. Really don't care anymore. Les and The Clown know best.
  16. I quite like it (especially the Led Zep part of the music montage) !
  17. KOEMAN SACKED
  18. Thoroughly enjoyed the match. I hope that they play more U-23 matches at St Mary's where it gives us the chance to see the youngsters coming through. I thought Hojberg was excellent as was Yan Valery at right full back. Nice to see Jake Hesketh back and I thought that Callum Slattery did very well in the second half. Good to see some pace and movement upfront.
  19. I saw Slattery play for the Under 23's against Reading and was not impressed at all. He seemed on the periphery of the game and did not work hard enough IMO. Only one game I know, but he did not seem anything like the level that require. Jake Hesketh would be a better option but he seems to be perpetually injured.
  20. I have many Saints programmes from 1960's through to 2000's. I remember that they used to have programme fairs from time to time - does anyone know whether this still happens as I am looking to sell them ( I need the room!!)
  21. I bought my first house, a 3 bedroomed semi with a fair bit of land in Bishops Sutton (near Alresford) for £4100 in 1970. I should have stayed there!!
  22. I remember my first games in 1964 (second division) paying 1 shilling (5p) as a child (although I was 16 then) in the Milton End. I seem to remember that when I bought my first season ticket in about 1973 that it cost about £60.
  23. Enjoyable match and impressive performance with the front three looking very good against admittedly a poor Reading defence. Thought Armani Little played well in midfield as did Bakery at full back. Hoj and Matt Target played well without being spectacular. Disappointed with Callum Slattery - I thought that he did not get involved enough. As I have only recently moved back into the area this is the first Reserves (as we used to call them) fixture I have seen live for the best part of 40 years! I think Danny Wallace played in the last Reserve fixture I saw!!
