  1. Could easily have scored six and the goal was the result of a silly mistake from Jaidi (easily the weakest link in the side and i'd be happy to see him dropped on Tuesday night). He is what he is....when he is turned he's b*ll*xed, but he reads the game so well his positioning is superb and very often takes out the danger before it develops. If we play him regularly (and why not?) we need to have cover when he is in a position where he could be turned. Not rocket science but needs practice.
  2. I think Rickie is playing a different game, whether that is because he is "off the pace" in terms of goal scoring, or his lack of goals is because he is being asked to change his style of play. Last night he controlled the ball - especially long balls from Kelvin, much more successfully and his lay-offs were more productive. I think his impact on the game was as influential as if he scored all 4 goals himself.
  3. Working on the "form" of the teams above us playing on Tuesday night we should move up to 6th and could go up to 4th, assuming we get the 3 points of course! Either scenario we would still be 2 points off 2nd place.
  4. well sorry you morbid lot - I think this a storming good idea, it's about time we had some decent chants, there's enough of us old duffers in the Northam to be able to cope with chorus's of more than 3 syllables and teach the youngsters how to do it. Alternatively we could bring back that real stormer "Pompey's going down............"
  5. What is your basis for comparison? Before you shaved your pubes? Before you started dating regularly and got engaged? Before you started living together? Your Fiancee now gives head more than before you shaved? Should we know this? Does your lady know that you are posting this information? PM me if you want an answer about liking to go down a hairy...
  6. Well I heard a rumour yesterday and the bloke was looking serious when he said it, so it must be true... one of the players went to NC and told him either AP goes or I do.... that's obviously answered the question as to why we still have Pulis.
  7. Where is this tripe about Oldknow returning come from? Marcus was the owner who left the running to NC, so with the sad demise of the owner how does that create a vacancy for another operating executive? The operating 'team' remains intact.
  8. For me the concern is that we do not appear to have contingency plans for RL's absence, with basically the same squad from last season we should have been practicing how to deliver a service to DC and LB to make the best of their qualities. In the 1st half we should have been 2-0 up irrespective of who the strikers were. It's not about changing the Manager, it's about varying the game plan as the game dictates.
  9. I didn't see anything in the game to be worried about. We played well in 1st half, and played bad in the 2nd half. A draw would of been a fair result as they made some good saves/blocks near the end. 1 game down, loads to go. Not the end of the world. Have to disagree in that we currently don't have a plan B to cover Ricky Lambert being injured or having an "off"day
  10. tbf he must be in AP's plans to make the journey, this is probably the decider - trip, training and starting line up... tick these boxes and we'll see more of him this coming season
  11. I only "made" one away game - Hartlepool, so many of us to travel all that way and then out sing the home fans (even whilst they had their lead) - was absolutely brilliant. Their pies were pretty good as well!!
  12. I think we are all overlooking one important point in all this...... if these players cannot get us up next season then they should be moved on for others that can. They will never have a better opportunity to be part of a successful team, the resources on and off the field are going to be in place....THE PLAYERS HAVE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.
  13. Landford, have you ever been on a narrow boat?, a) they don't weigh 25 tons and b)they are really easy to get rhythmically rocking.... I know, especially if you are on the roof!!!

  16. May I suggest that we were immensely better last night because we gave them no real chances to get into the game. In that Spurs game, had Keane been more on form we might have struggled to get the result that we did. Last night was domination across the whole team, it didn't rely on any opposing player having an off day.
  17. You must have been near me, some numpties along our row managed to pass by my nipper and trample me to the ground to get to to the Pimpey faithfull when we equalised. Totally disorientating at my time of life, bruised all down my leg. Would like to take it further, but that would lead to us being made to sit next time around - so I'll just suffer like a martyr for the glorious good of (us) all!
  18. Thinking about this today, it's not just the fans that have so much optimism (well most of us have) it is in the team as well. There is so much chance to go far with this club that I think the players will stay for next season at least. AL is young enough to bide his time for a season or two to enjoy the fruits of a club in resurgance.
  19. Apart from celebrating their goals the biggest reaction from them was when we started a chant of "W******d is a w****r" - they applauded and gave us thumbs up!
  20. So much negativity, something like 56000+ tickets to process in not very time. I ordered my tickets for pompey on day 1, haven't got them yet, e-mailed the ticket office over the weekend and got a positive and polite response this morning. It will be a pain having to queue on sat am for replacements if they dont turn up in the post. My booking had problems from the beginning, but the ticket office staff did exactly what they promised to do when they said they would. The system (IT or otherwise) might be suspect, but the staff in the office I think I think are top class!
  21. Go out existence? No way, as a supporter how did we feel last summer faced with the possibility of having no club? Go into admin yes! have a 36 point penalty -yes. Rebuild from the BSP yes (Maidstone, Wimbledon and Accrington have all done it)-this way the club is still there for the faithfull to follow. I'd love to see Mr Westwood @ Ebbsfleet ( please can we get back to the real name soon) banging his drum, or whatever he does.
  22. To acheive that another club has to make an offer, haven't noticed many queuing up for Saga at the last window and he's proved absolutely naff all since then.
  23. Whilst I whole-heartedly agree with SOG that losing a football match does not compare with dealing with terminal illness in the family ( I have experience of this at the moment) I don't think it is reasonable to expect people to grasp the difficulties and emotions that these conditions bring UNTIL they have first hand experience. In our daily lives we have many things that influence our feelings and moods - very important at the time because there are no other greater issues to influence them, but in "the greater scheme of things" really inconsequential. This doesn't stop my heart palpatations (despite the medication) soaring when we are hanging on desparately to a 1-0 lead, believing vehemently that Bill Shankly was right all along! Returning to the OP, yes my life has changed this season, having bought my first S/T I'm out for every home game (can't always make the cup games tho') so "her indoors" has to do the shopping on her own. Oh and don't forget the away trip to Hartlepool...magic!!
  24. Long term, Short term or mid term priorities are quite simply to focus on winning the next game. Liverpool have come unstuck by trying to focus more on Europe than the premiership and the old adage of 1 game at time still works. Pick the strongest team that you need (not necessarily the strongest that you have) for each game.
