I have seen him once in a friendly away at Bournemouth and his technique and build up play were superb, in fact from the little I have seen of him he looked potentially better than Lambert in this area. He had one very decent chance in the first half that he should have buried and he didn't take it. It was a good save from the keeper but in all honesty Pelle should have done better. I think he needs a good start to the season and hopefully a goal or two in his first 2-3 games will set him on his way. If he starts struggling and searching for that first goal then it could be a very long season for both Pelle and our fans.

Guardian Premier League 2014-15 preview No14: Southampton
Ewell replied to Toon Saint's topic in The Saints
Well done Jacob Steinberg that really is a decent and accurate summary that has been researched fairly well. -
Yep thats's my fear exactly. I think this will be a rude awakening for the board, Koeman and his management team but in the long run we could be all the better for it. I will definitely be donning my tin hat and taking cover in the air raid shelter next Sunday.

According to Sky Sports News Rod Liddle says the future England football team will be made up of players from Arsenal, Liverpool and Southampton and then goes onto describe all 3 teams as also rans! Is this fair comment? He is responding to Rodwell's comments advising young English players not to sign for Man City as they will not get an opportunity. Liddle's argument seems to centre around young English players like Rodwell not being good enough to hold down a first team place at a big club. FWIW I think he has a point and the sooner young English players adopt the attitude of striving to achieve rather than that of I have made it already then their careers will more likely be better for it. Based on the fact that those who play for certain teams usually follow each other. Not official confirmation but looks like a fairly strong hint that it could be on. In any case anyone thinking we could land this lad really are a bit mental, he was always going to a bigger club than us.

It's not like everyone on this forum to shout a load of ****** and jump to a conclusion now is it? Well done Alps.

The key point is distribution. The Dutch use the keeper as a sweeper and require him to be very comfortable with the ball at his feet. This is one of the poorest parts of Boruc's game. If Boruc had decent distribution then they wouldn't be looking to upgrade him.
-
That matches my opinion of him exactly, he just needs to add goals to his game and last night was a good start. I am really hoping JWP has a big season. He is so comfortable in possession and he plays like a seasoned veteran at 19. His debut at Man City was one of the best debuts I have ever seen from a Saints player, let alone a 17 year old.

No what's weird is how a happy clapper doesn't get that saying NO now is far too late, the boards position is weak by the stance they have already taken with other player sales. Morgan will get his way, its just a game of bluff now.
-
He will be gone within a week, we all know that. Ralph said to a direct question with regards Morgan and JRod on Talksport, if they do not want to be here then we will re-evaluate. This has obviously been set-up by the board. Pull the plug on the deal on the table with Spurs and tell the player he cannot leave. Player goes mental on social media, throws his toys out of the pram. We then can retain our credibility with the media and fans by saying look, he wanted to go and made that plainly obvious in a public domain, what could we do blah blah blah
-
Schneiderlin's tweet is all part of the strategy and the pre-cursor to getting his move! Remember what Ralph said on Talksport, if a player wants to move we will reevaluate, well there you go then! Bye Bye Morgan

No no no, we keep being told that we only sell to top 4 champions league clubs....Oh http://www.itv.com/sport/football/article/2014-07-28/spurs-close-on-southampton-duo-rodriguez-schneiderlin/

Gary Lineker and the world of Twitter are all over Koeman's post about training today. It is probably a completely innocent update from Koeman with no hidden meaning at all but it seems the social media world are revelling and enjoying the chaos at St Mary's.
-
At this time he has already lost 4 players of which 3 he has admitted that he knew he would lose. He has no reason to lie to us so we have to take this as fact. Chambers out the door soon and doubts remain over Schneiderlin, Rodriguez, Osvaldo, Fonte and Cork. That is potentially 10 players who all made a decent contribution last season. I am pretty sure he didn't sign up for that.

Will this be the best transfer window for Saints ever?
Ewell replied to Mallagroth's topic in The Saints
Not really posted on any of these threads but my brief take is below. Sorry but in my opinion it is far from teetering but it is easily already the worst transfer window ANY top flight club has ever had to endure. I have not seen another club in the Premier League have to go through the amount of instability and upheaval we have. I can handle losing players, they come and go. What I am finding difficult is being told for the past few years that our identity revolves around our academy and developing players for our first team. Growing them together, building and fostering a way of playing and team spirit and a strong bond with a core of players who want to play for each other as well as the shirt they are wearing. This is what I love and want to see, I don't want to see a return to a squad made up of the latest johnny foreigner mercenaries. Yes we need to supplement with a few imports of international quality but they should be the right ones and of good quality and fit the clubs ethos. All I am seeing at the moment is the policy we have worked so hard to foster over the past 5 years being dismantled and thrown away. Yes we may get in a few foreign stars along the way but the death of the dream is nigh and that's hard to take. It will take all of Koeman's managerial skill to get us over this and I wish him luck with that, for me it will never be the same again though. -
Those justifying our derisory bid are probably the same ones that moaned about Liverpool's derisory offers for Lamebert, Lallana and Lovren, as well as United's for Shaw. Some people cannot remove their red and white spectacles; they only ever see these situations for the benefit of our club.
-
Great post and spot on!
-
To be fair I think most of us worked that one out when Lambert was sold for less than 4 million, let alone when Shaw and then Lallana went. Lovren, Morgan and then Rodriguez once fit to follow. Maybe then some of our dumb supporters will wake up to what is happening.
-
There is an official app you just have to for it.
-
The guy is being giving the standard 3 weeks off after a tournament which all players are given in such cases and people see fit to have a pop at the player for this. Were we all having a dig at Yoshida, Lovren, Schneiderlin and would we have done the same to Shaw, Lallana and Lambert if they were still at the club and England had gone further? A big resounding NO! Give Gaston a break, he is having time off that he is entitled to. He may not have played much in the tournament but he still did all the travelling, media work, team analysis and meetings as well as training daily. Some of you are acting like dinlows and making complete mugs of yourself. I assume Schneirlin is next on your list as his time on the pitch at the world cup was not to dissimilar to Gaston's?
-
He has a point and it is fair comment IMHO. The evidence is there that we have sold 3 of our best players from last season. Yes we have replaced a couple but we do not know how they will perform yet, they could be worse than those sold but will hopefully improve us. Tadic and Pelle whilst very good players are not exactly household names to the British media and other clubs fans so you can see why they will think we wont be as good as last season. The jury is out.
-
I think with Pochettino it's more to do with the instant success demanded by Daniel Levy and the Spurs board. Lets be honest if Pochettino emulates his last season hen that won't be good enough for Spurs who no doubt will fire him. Lallana is possibly due to the way he left but also Liverpool have lots of money and are improving their squad and even Rogers has stated Lallana has been bought as a squad player to compete and he won't necessarily be a starter. The Shaw stuff is obviously spiteful. He will go on and be a regular for Man U and England for the next 10 years. Anyone can see that and anyone with any sense will realise at best we could have kept him until end of this season but once England came calling his head was obviously turned.
-
Which is part of the problem, in a World Cup year pre season is a bit ****ed up for all the players that go. At least he came home fairly early I suppose. The Duch, German, Argentinian and Brazilians still won't be back at their clubs for at least another couple of weeks.
-
I bet that's all your parents heard from you as a kid. Do you have to post that one word to every post you don't agree with? How about just letting it go. Why Why Why. A massive spoilt brat comes to mind!
-
Which is why the replacement should be signed, sealed and delivered BEFORE those being replaced are allowed to leave. The Lallana deal should not have been completed until the Ink was dry on the Tadic contract. There is never a guarantee you will replace with better than what you already have.
