Anyone else think we could be on the verge of something special?
Ewell replied to washsaint's topic in The Saints
If you think I don't dream then you are mistaken. I just refuse to get carried away at what is essentially a good run of form. I am delighted with our start as much as anyone but the real test comes when we start to play the top teams. At the moment we have beaten teams that look like they will be down the bottom. The only top side from last season we have played against despite playing well and deserving a point we still lost. The real tests are yet to come but long may our good form continue. COYR. -

Well said. Anyone getting carried away is either a complete din or a glutton for punishment. -
One of the things that was certainly evident last night is that we definitely need some more songs.

I would guess from Koeman's comment after the tests were completed by the medical team that they have an idea that the damage is not too bad. The only true way to tell though is to wait for the swelling to go down and have a scan. I's guess he would not be risked against Arsenal though. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/11486683.Koeman_praises_Wanyama_s_influence/?ref=mac

Which can be switched right back at you. I am personally happy for an experienced top performer with premier league experience from the past two years who is now our captain to continue in his rightful place. Do new signings not have to earn their place any more?
-
All this says to me is how important Jose Fonte is to our defence and how key it was we kept him this summer. Oh and to think some people were saying the two new signings should be our centre back pairing for the Newcastle game, dinlows!

Same old Gaston, warming the bench.

A good performance and great victory and I am genuinely but pleasantly surprised how quickly the new players have settled and integrated with the team. They also appear to be revelling in Koeman's methods which is great to see. However, this is two victory's on the bounce against what I feel are two of the weaker teams in the division, let's see how we are after 10, 20 or even 38 games before people start claiming the moral high ground.

Without wanting to be overly critical of good intentions I agree that this is a fair point.

Agreed and apologies to all, I should not have risen to a pathetic attempt at baiting.

Yeah ok mate if you say so. no doubt you are a tool that did one, well done!

Because all people seem to care about these days is doing a look at me, look at me ice bucket challenge video in the name of what is a horirble condition that affects very few people (if they even donate at all). Dontaed to Franny cause already, he deserves more so please help if you can afford to.

Nice to see a thread with some credit given to Maya. He was outstanding yesterday and was also a contender for MOM. Yoshi deserves his place in the team so it is his shirt to lose at the moment.

Yep, fully agree with this. Yesterday was great, we picked up from the 2nd half at Millwall and completely bossed the whole match against West Ham who looked a poor side to me. There is no doubt RK knows what he is doing and his team is showing signs of potential. I can see us doing well in the cups and improving as the season goes on. If we match last years 8th place then we have had a good season but I fear as it's a new team results will be a bit up and down. Despite the great victories last season on the road I can't recall one I enjoyed more than yesterday.

Never stopped trying, great attitude and the sensible on here know that can carry you along way. Once the service is more precise and quicker goals will flow. Well done lad!

Spot on. Make no mistake we are in a relegation battle this season. We also need to ask ourselves where are the 37 goals Lambert, Lallana and JRod scored between them going to come from? Given time Tadic, Pelle and Long could click but that is going to take time and personally I don't think we will see the best of them as a team this season.

Post of the year, well said that man!

Ever Fell Out With a Saints fan with a different opinion in real life?
Ewell replied to St.JonB's topic in The Saints
Calling yourself a **** I see. -
Possibly stronger with regards squad depth but we definitely have a weaker team. It can take a player at least a season to bed in (See JRod) and if some of our 7 new boys take that long then we are in a bit of trouble, particularly with the attacking players! As many of them as possible need to hit the ground running. Next there is the new manager and pattern of play, we were so good last season as Poch had time to coach and work on our pattern of play in the 6 months we had the season before. We shouldn't expect too much of Koeman and his staff too soon, it takes time, patience and a lot of hard work to become as good as a team as we were last year. I honestly believe if we had another top class striker we could have made Europe.
