Puel's reign was a strange one. Yes, eighth and a Cup Final, but for the only time in many, many years, I couldn't be asked to stay for the "Traditional" lap of honour at the final home game of the season, and from what I remember, I wasn't the only by a long chalk.

Yes.....whenever he came on, he just stuck close to the touchline.......closer than a flea on Sellotape....could never understand it...
-
A better performance.......enough to give Juric more time? Probably not........
-
A case NOT cracked by Holmes and Watson?
-
He Rambo'd It!!

TBF if a digital clock was stuck then it would be once a day but analogue would be twice a day. Not even MLG can argue with that......can he?
-
This is true....however, whoever decided on Armstrong was taking a gamble (or trying to be "clever") which didn't work.......was that Ralph? Obviously AA is brilliant in the Championship, but is unable to cut it in the Prem. What we needed, although probably couldn't afford, was a Prem quality striker to replace the one we had lost.
-
Totally agree. Whilst Ralph looked beaten down at the end of his tenure, and probably had to go, I still believe that if he had been given the right support (especially if he had been given the striker that we needed after Ings left), the last two years would have been different. Ralph is a good manager and was a good fit for us.

Whilst we are a "basket-case" at the moment, next season with the right set up and a decent "war-chest" we could be quite an attractive prospect.

This is how these things work......selective memory. I don't quite get the Steve Cooper thing. A man who was sacked twice in a matter of months wouldn't normally be a fans favourite for the job here.....quite the opposite.......but....what do I know?

I don't dislike either of them. I feel sorry for them. There is no way that AR would have signed if he had any idea that things would be as bad as they are and he will be gone at the end of the season. He has only appeared 19 times for us. I quite like Fernandes but he hasn't been a vital part of the team since he has been here. He was originally a bit-part player, like many others signed in recent years and only fairly recently become something of a fixture in the team. I think both will be gone in the Summer. What I said is that I have no affinity or connection to players in this squad in the same way as I did with e.g. MLT, JWP, Claus, Killer etc or even Danny Ings when he was here.....all of whom felt like they were giving their all for the club.

It's probably going to be a TSW "thing".........like calling Gao "Goa".
-
As I said elswhere on TSW, for the first time in 65 years, there are NO players in the squad that I have any affinity with. Even through the bleakest times in the past there have always been a player or two that excited me.......or that I didn't want to leave us, but it wouldn't worry me if every single player in the current squad left......in fact I hope they do!

Where is another goal coming from?
-
TBF we didn't drop into L1 because we were crap on the pitch.......mainly of the field reasons.

I am starting a campaign to change the clubs official name from "Southampto F.C." to "Southampton Nil". Has a nice ring about it!
-
Difficult one but, firstly, if KL had no real interest owning the club, she had every right to do it. To be fair, she didn't just walk away.......she did maintain an interest. Secondly, if I remember correctly, it was after Gao had taken control that the Chinese Government stopped him from taking any of his money out of the country.

To me it is not a straight forward question. A "Perfect Storm" of balls-ups have contributed to this calamitous season. 1) Russell Martin deserved a chance to manage us in the Prem but SR left it too long to get rid of him when it was obvious to anybody with a brain that it wasn't, and wouldn't work. He should have been given 10 games, then gone. Was it RM's fault that he didn't have the right players to play his system? No idea, but he was too stubborn to change what wasn't working. 2) The recruitment was a complete and utter disaster. I can't think of one player that we signed over the summer that I felt excited about. They were all a bit "meh" and have got even more "meh" as the season has gone on. Couple this with players from the previous disaster window when we tried to off-load and couldn't get rid. As I said elsewhere, there isn't one player that I have any affiinity with....for the first time in many, many years. Who is to blame for the recruitment? We all have our opinions but none of us actually know. 3) I actually feel sorry for Juric and the flack that he is getting. He came in on a hiding to nothing. I realise that he is not making any friends with his team selection/tactics, but TBF, Klopp, Slot or Pep would struggle to get anything from this pathetic squad. Add to this the unprofessional behaviour/attitude of some of the squad, throwing their toys out of the cot and sulking because their mate had gone, and the task is made even more impossible. I don't think that he will be here next season.......not sure that he would want to be! He seems a beaten man already! 4) SPORTS REPUBLIC! Despite the continual "Sports Republic Out!" bleating of many fans, I don't think that they will be going anywhere anytime soon. I believe that Dragan genuinely wants to be successful with his venture and won't want to be viewed as a failure, but he has listened to too many "clever" people who are far too confident in their overblown belief in their own abilities. I hope and pray that he has "seen the light" and cast these morons aside. This coming Summer will be massive for him. It is his last chance to get things right. He MUST be decisive and get the right people in for what needs to be a complete reset at SMS, and to be even more credible it needs to happen quickly or the fanbase will disappear.
-
A few years back, people on here were pushing/suggesting for him to buy us as he had a home in the New Forest.
-
The biggest mystery to me is why they persisted with RM like they did. He should have had 10 games to see if he could cut it, but you almost get the impression that if the Spurs game had been a bit closer....i.e. a narrow defeat, then he would still be here.
-
It is interesting to hear so many of our vintage saying the same thing. Hardly "good time" supporters....
-
The problem is that apart from anything else, for the first time in 65 years, I have little or no affinity with anyone in our squad. I wouldn't be disappointed if the whole bloody lot left.....
-
Winning now.
-
For them to go, somebody needs to want to buy us, and who in their right mind has pockets deep enough to buy us AND spend what will be needed to make this disaster of a squad competitive. I think that we are stuck with SR in at least the medium term. We just have to hope that Dragan has seen the light and balls big enough and pockets (still) deep enough to sort this shit-show out.
