Saints Greatest XI - The Best Managers Nominations
miserableoldgit replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
Tend to agree, but under Lawrie we appeared in 2 Wembley Cup Finals (one of which we obviously won), were VERY close to winning the First Division Championship and attracted players like KK, Peter Osgood, Peter Shilton, Charlie George, Alan Ball etc. A very difficult decision, but I think I will go with Big Mac. -
He used to call us "Chelsea-on-Sea"!

Don`t worry! It`s easy to get picked on by these WUM`s. It`s happened to me a couple of times before. Don`t spoil their enjoyment. It`s probably the highlight of their week.

To a degree, I don`t see how the club can do an "Early Bird" offer. If/when we are relegated, the price in League One will have to be considerably lower than at present. Until we know for certain where we will be next year how can they come up with realistic pricing?

I posed this question on another thread. Bearing in mind that Lowe supposedly wanted Wotte as Manager a few years ago, why did he appoint JP as Manager/Head Coach/Lapdog over him this season?

TBF, it does say that it is actually somebody else singing:- The mighty James Taylor covers DMX's "Party up". Gangsta. (Joe Cumia is the actual performer).

As someone who works in the house-building industry, and just about holding on to a job, I do see this as a positive glimmer. The health of our industry is a good indicator of how the economy in general is doing. I do appreciate what rising house prices mean to (particularly) first time buyers, but you can only buy a house, even a very cheap one, if you have an income.

Run across the pitch waving the new 2015 Saints calendar that I have just bought from the wooden kiosk (Ministore). -

Have been watching the repeats of the original "Transatlantic Sessions" on BBC4. Wonderful live version of this by JM himself plus other various "folksters". Well worth looking out for.

Southampton Speedway closed in 1963 just after they became National League champions. It still rankles me after all of these years that we lost something like this and have never been able to replace it. Thank goodness that Sky still feature Speedway quite heavily in its schedules. -
Brilliant album! Brings back a lot of memories!

Wotte pleased that transfer closed and best players still at SMS.

How big is Jacksons Farm? I work in house-building and the way things are at the moment it is going to be quite some time before it is liable to be a sought after piece of land. I believe that Bovis have an option on it that must run out soon. Can`t see any of The Jellyfishes companies (if they still exist after the recession) being able to do much with it. -

Me too - maybe Wasps - I assume you mean Union? I am almost finished with football. The PL is all about money and has almost become a closed shop. The Champions League is purely about the greed of the big-boys and hold no interest for me. They complain that they play to many games since The European Cup stopped being a knock-out cometition so want to reduce the number of teams in the PL so that they can keep the cash rolling in at the expense of the smaller clubs. I am (sadly) just a Saints fan of over 50 years so if it doesn`t involve Saints I have lost interest, and my interest in Saints is disappearing over the horizon with it`s ass on fire. -

I am probably being very naive, but I don`t understand why Lowe would want to buy the club after administration as so many people think. The general opinion is that he and The Jellyfish came back purely to protect their investments. I don`t how admin would cover this and why Lowe would want a League One club with no money and a very bleak future. I know people will say that he will buy the club for a quid because he is the Devil Incarnate and just to **** the supporters off, but it can`t be as simple as that - can it? -

Does The Saints Trust still exist? I was a member once. -
Perhaps Rupert will wheedle his way in there and leave us alone! The words "straws", "clutching" and "at" come to mind.

I echo these sentiments.
