Joe Shields leaving? What the hell is happening???
aintforever replied to stevy777_x's topic in The Saints
Is Joe Shields the person who thought it was a good idea to blow 70mill on kids instead of buying a proven striker? -
But that article didn’t claim it stopped transmission, that’s the point you have missed. It said it COULD reduce transmission based on how previous viruses have behaved. It was crystal clear that they never claimed it had been tested or proven to stop transmission. Politicians and the media have made all sorts of claims but from what I read from the science it was clear all along that the vaccines purpose was to stop serious illness and might help slow the spread.
-
That is saying exactly what I said, they never claimed to have tested for transmission or said it has been proven to reduce transmission. Just said it COULD do based on how other viruses behave. “As a scientist and from extrapolation of what we have seen so far from other viruses, I would expect a high efficacy in preventing disease translates into at least some efficacy in preventing infection. “I’m very confident that transmission between people will be reduced by such a highly effective vaccine – maybe not 90% but maybe 50%. But we should not forget that even that would result in a dramatic reduction of the pandemic spread.” Şahin said the scientists would have a better understanding of the vaccine candidate’s impact in slowing transmission “in a few months” following further analysis of the antibody response in trial participants. BioNTech has said previously that some crucial questions regarding the jab’s efficacy will only be answerable in the coming weeks and months. Establishing for certain whether it can also stop asymptomatic infections could take up to a year."

It looks like it wasn't tested because there was not time and that wasn't it's primary aim, it was rushed out to stop serious illness. That doesn't mean it doesn't reduce transmission, that was something they would find out over time. It's nothing to piss your pants over.

He's obviously a talent but has made some mistakes which you would expect for someone of his age. McCarthy would have got crucified if he had flapped at it and caused the goal like Bazunu did against Villa. The club have chosen a very risky policy, we just need to accept that mistakes will cost us points and just staying up will be success this season.
-
Except it has the perfect opportunity to join in a big fight yet chooses not to.
-
If that’s the case why did they wait until today to hit them whilst their military have been having their asses handed to them for more than a month? Lviv hadn’t been touched since the spring until today. It was obviously just Putin desperately trying to have something that resembles a victory to show on TV.
-
… as is staying up quite comfortably.
-
Not a terrible result, as expected really.
-
Probably fucked off with the club buying a load of kids.
-
I’m not thinking that, just think Ukraine should expect a response.
-
There is plenty in Russia wanting him to use nukes from what I have seen. I don’t think he will but I didn’t think he would invade Ukraine so who knows. This video gives a scary insight into how fucked up some ordinary Russian are. Obviously it’s hard to say how representative it is:
-
I would guess it would have to be from below to cause that damage but I suppose a truck full of explosives could cause a big explosion. Not looking forward to the inevitable response, Putin is going to be under pressure to use tactical nukes for sure now.

We are Southampton. Our good seasons are when we reach the heights of mediocrity, most of the time we are just shit.
-
Under Ralph Ings got into the England squad, now he struggles to get in the starting line up for Villa. Yeah he obviously hated him.
-
I didn’t even realise things like the Excalibur existed, you can see why it has been one way traffic since the Ukrainians have been using NATO weapons. These shells can hit a target the size of a car from 65km away.
-
Stupid tweet but didn’t Musk help Ukraine with his Starlink thing?
-
I don’t necesarrily disagree, my point was merely that the lack of goalscorer might be a reason why Ralph has been cut some slack by the board. That and the fact that we are blooding a load of youngsters in the toughest league in the world. We basically replaced Broja and Long with a kid who couldn’t even hold down a starting place in a shite French team.
-
Our midfield can't score for shite either so it's more of an issue for us IMO.
-
Exactly, Trossard has got 5 already this season, Mac Allister 4 and Gross 3 so Brighton have goalscorers so their lack of strikers is not the same issue for them.
-
I think he was favourite when Bournemouth, Chelsea, Brighton and Wolves all changed manager so the bookies rarely seem to get it right.
-
Obviously not but in my opinion the striking options of Adam Armstrong, Ché Adams and Sékou Mara is probably the worst in the league, it's bound to effect the team's performance and mean the manager is going to struggle to find the right formation. I think Ralph's days are probably numbered but I have no confidence in any new manager suddenly making that lot good enough to keep us up.
-
It may be that they recognise that their failure to bring a striker in means we will struggle regardless of what Brighton do?
