  1. When we are supposedly too skint to keep hold of a decent manager it seems weird we can afford to blow money on wages for: Pulis, Gasmi, Forecast, Smith, Robertson, Peckhart. Plus what was the point in giving Perry a contract if were going to be playing a bunch of kids instead? All seems a bit hit and miss, we bring someone in on loan - he plays a couple of games then is dropped.
  2. Complete rubbish, we were obviously forced to play some kids, just like every other skint team has done in the past 100 years. There was absolutely no need for experimental set-ups or gambling on untried foreign managers. We've brought in 11 - 12 new players this season so there was enough scope to do things differently.
  3. Every other club in the country is in debt, not too many taking crazy gambles like Saints though.
  4. I would be happy with Micky Adams, persisting with this this Poortvleit experiment is pointless, it was doomed from the offset and will only get worse as the pitches get heavier and the games get more pressurized.
  5. Since last season we have signed 11 new players: Paul Wotton Lee Holmes Tommy Forecast Romain Gasmi Morgan Schneiderlin Jack Cork Tomas Pekhart Jordan Robertson Ryan smith Anthony Pulis Alex Pearce This new set up has had the resources to build their own team, there are teams with less resources than us in this league so there can be no excuses if we go down.
  6. Because we won so many games with Schneiderlin and Holmes in the side...
  7. But one manager's "good" player is another manager's donkey. Saints fans of all people surely know this, different manager rate different players that's why it's best if the manager chooses the players.
  8. As the banks are the clubs main debt then surely the only outcome from administration would be the banks owning SMS, Staplewood, the farm etc and renting back what we need to continue as a club. I cannot see any logical reason why the banks would want to shut SFC down, SMS's only value is as a football stadium, it's just as much in the banks interest for SFC to be playing at the highest level possible - surely?
  9. I'm not surprised opposition manager's love us.
  10. I'm sorry but if Redknapp had money to spend he would have spent it, that's what Redknapp does best, that's all he does - spend money. The problem was Lowe handles all transfers so could always come up with a reason for a deal falling through, I remember hearing Redknapps interviews that summer - he was always miserable and frustrated. The idea that Morrison was the only player Redknapp would have wanted is just laughable. Also the 2mill for Rasiak only appeared after we had offloaded Walcott, Neimi and Quashie.
  11. Keeping Redknapp and giving him and not pushing the boat out money wise was Lowe's first mistake. That along with the Woodward farce meant bouncing straight back was virtually impossible despite having probably the best squad in the Championship (Neimi, Walcott, Quashie, Higgingbotham, Oakley etc). Appointing Burley proved to be a mistake but since that not cutting our cloth after the play-off season was dumb.

  13. That's complete rubbish - would never happen. There will always be a football club in Southampton, St Mary's is completely worthless as anything other than a football stadium and there will always be at the very least 5-10,000 people who want to pay to watch football in Southampton. A football club is like property or any other investment - there will always be a buyer at the right price. Administration would not be good but at the very worst we would drop a league or two, have all our assets sold and have to rent the stadium. We portsmouth not in a similar situation to us a few years ago? They were sold for £1 to Mandric and now look where they are. All we need is Lowe, Wilde and Crouch to agree to sell for 33.3p each and we will be OK.

  15. Even without knowing the ins and outs, you would have to have your head up your ass not to be worried at the thought of Rupes giving a team talk. If he had just poped in to say a few words surely it wouldn't have even been mentioned by anyone?
  16. I would guess that IF Crouch has anyone interested in taking over then they will wait until it becomes screamingly obvious to Wilde and Lowe that their is no future in what they are planning and their shares are worth next to nothing. I expect that even now, staring League 1 and administration in the face, Lowe still has some bizarre reason to think his shares are worth something. No one - bar a billionare in need of a play thing, will want to buy the club at the price Lowe will want to sell at. I've said all along that relegation and admin is inevitable unless a white night comes along. Lowe and Wilde will never sell for a nominal fee until it is too late and noone will want to buy the club for anything more than a nominal amount.
  17. Looked good going forward but can't defend. Need to get rid of Portaloo now IMO. We have enough quality to stay up IMO, just need a manager with some experience and a couple of full backs.
  18. Poortvliet has not got a clue how to produce a team that can defend, I would sack him now whilst we have a chance to stay up.
  19. ...Surely now would be a good time to get it, club staring League 1/Admin in the face and all?
  20. You are forgetting the goal he stuffed in the net from 30 yards during the 5mins he has played this season. Only Beattie, Phillips and that bloke at Wolves out scored John last season - and that was in a struggling side.
  21. the last two games have showed us how important it is to have players like Stern John in the side, if Lowe loans him out he's a ****. IMO if we ship out John it will be the nail in our coffin and will be Lowe's greatest false economy since he saved a few quid by hiring Steve Wigley.
  22. I'm sorry but Pootvleit has no excuses for the bad perfomances, despite the player cuts he has been able to bring in virtually his own new team. We had the resources to bring in Paul Wotton, Lee Holmes, Tommy Forecast, Romain Gasmi, Morgan Schneiderlin, Jack Cork, Tomas Pekhart, Jordan Robertson, Ryan smith and Anthony Pulis. That's 10 new players, along with a few kids any decent manager could assemble a team capable of mid table.
  23. We're gonna get butchered 4-0.
  24. I don't think it will go anywhere near the last game, this current team will be down with 2-3 still to play IMO. Last year we proved beyond and doubt whatsoever how valuable experience is when it comes to the pressure of a relegation battle. This bunch of kids can't handle the pressure even when there is no pressure.
