I agree. If the club had signed a decent striker in the summer I think we would be 7-8 points better off and he would still be here. Replacing Broja and Shane Long with a French kid basically fucked the whole team. Ralph was far from perfect but that is the reason we will go down. IMO.

So that’s what they meant by ‘The Southampton board are keen to strengthen in a number of positions, including in central defence“
-
Yes. It’s a no-brainer for me given the lack of pace in our side.
-
That’s how I see it, you don’t need three centre backs if you have two defensive centre midfielders, you end up too passive.
-
Obviously don’t know how kosher this vid is but there have been many reports of lack of shells from the Russian front lines. Also of them having to use tanks as artillery because they can get hold of tank shells easier.

I agree, war is always an ugly business. But I still believe we aimed to keep civilian casualties to a minimum. If we wanted to actually target civilians in Iraq we would have killed a lot more, we had complete air superiority and could have carpet bombed the whole place at will.
-
The difference with him though is he has played and managed at the top level, in six weeks he could easily work out who his best team was. Nath probably spent six weeks watching our lot train thinking they are all brilliant.
-
Tony Blair should have been prosecuted for the Iraq war but the idea that civilians were targeted is bollocks. Many were killed and suffered immensely but if our forces had targeted civilians intentionally it would have looked very different, we could have turned the whole of Baghdad to rubble.
-
Trying to be too clever. They are just a Rupert Lowe with a bit more cash.
-
The board need to be brave and admit they got it wrong. There is nothing in Jones’ cv to suggest he could manage at this level, how long do you gamble the club’s future?
-
Imagine how shit we will be when the new manager bounce wears off!
-
Looked much more of a team under Ralph.
-
There is absolutely nothing in his CV to suggest he can manage at this level, how long to we gamble the future of our club on him?
-
Cut our loses and sack the cunt now.
-
This manager is so out if his depth it’s scary.
-
He needs to be dropped. Will probably be a great keeper one day but is clearly not good enough yet.
-
Agree. He is the one player we have who could give us the creativity we need.

No one would ever sign a player in stats alone but in theory they could highlight a player who would otherwise go under the radar. For example if there is a good striker playing in a shit team, he may not be a top scorer but stats could show he puts away most chances he gets. He wouldn’t be signed based on his stats, he would be signed based on what the scout saw. If the stats show something up which gives our scouts the edge meaning we get there first it has to be a useful tool.
-
Surely if that is true and the stats backup what we are seeing then it shows the role stats can play. There is no substitute for watching a team or a player but our scouts can’t watch every player in every game in the world.

To be fair if they followed the example of tennis they would have to call the Premier League the Men’s Premier League. You Daily Mail lot would love that!

I'm clinging to the hope that Nath purposely didn't put out a his preferred line-up against Lincoln to keep Brighton guessing. A former colleague of mine knew Eddie Howe well and he said Eddie hates going against teams that have just changed manager because they don't know how to prepare properly.

How? Putin has always been very pro Brexit: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/dec/20/vladimir-putin-theresa-may-brexit-fulfil-will-of-the-people

We all want him to do well but that shouldn't stop you having an honest opinion. Personally I think he will be a spectacular failure. Managing a Prem side is a tough job for any manager and he's got the cards stacked against him from the off. I'm not particularly against hiring managers from the Championship in principle but just think having an experienced manager or manager with a big name/reputation would suit us at this time with the young squad we've got. Basically if you're young player and Koeman/Strachan/Hoddle tell you you're great then you will walk out at Old Trafford with a bit more confidence than if it comes from someone who's never even played there. Hopefully I will be proven wrong though.

There was a fitness expert on the radio before the start of the tournament saying we should see much better football because it is mid-season, looks like he was right. It’s just a shame the atmosphere at most of the games was shocking, can’t compare it to Italia 90.
