Think Starmer was just trying to ignore Sunak and stick to his script, not wanting to be bossed into answering Sunak’s questions. He should have challenged it straight away because it didn’t look great at the time. Now it has been exposed as a blatant lie it looks awful for Sunak because he repeated it over and over staring straight at the camera.

It’s impossible to tell what effect protests have had, just stop oil hasn’t stopped oil but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t influenced government policy. Likewise we don’t know wether international opinion hasn’t stopped Israel committing more atrocities than it has. I don’t believe they achieve much but in a democracy public opinion matters and I expect people in power do take some notice.
-
You really are easily confused.
-
I don’t think so no. Maybe it changed how our government responded but probably didn’t have much effect.
-
You are getting all confused Baby Reindeer. The Protests against Russias invasion made sense when the people protesting thought public opinion might have some sort of effect on what Russia were doing. The situation now is obviously different.
-
I never said the protests led to the support, the support would have happened regardless.
-
No and no. Marching through London with a ‘stop the war Putin’ placard today would be completely pointless though.
-
I would suspect that is one of the main reasons they are marching, to try to get the government to put more pressure on Israel. I’ve never been on one of these marches so wouldn’t know.
-
Yes, reply to Challenger's point about what is happening NOW, not 2 years ago. There were loads of protests throughout Europe when Russia first invaded. Since then our government has shown complete support to Ukraine, sent millions in aid, trained their troops, sent tanks, Stormshadow missiles and all sorts of military kit, plus imposed massive sanctions. Going on a protest march is a pretty futile act anyway, when the above doesn’t stop Putin it’s pretty obvious marching though London won’t achieve anything.
-
I never said anything about two years ago, try reading.
-
That was 2 years ago when it all started, made sense then.
-
The main difference is that our government supports Israel and the UK has a history with its creation so there is a point in the protests. Not sure what the point in protesting against Russia in London would be.

It's important that Question Time has a broad range of views on it, even clowns like Farage should be able to have their say no matter how ridiculous/offensive their views. The audience generally reflects the electorate so if they get laughed at/shouted down it's probably just because they are talking shite.

…the reason being, my resident stalker has little imagination.

That's good to hear. You might want to change your password though, it appears that some troll has been logging into your account and posting inflammatory bollocks for the past few years.

Still living rent free in your head then.

What Hamas did was more barbaric but Israel have caused pain and death to way more innocent people than what Hamas did. Anyway it’s not a competition, one is a bunch of terrorists the other is supposed to be a modern western style democracy with one of the World’s most advanced armies. And, importantly, has had the support of our government.
-
Of course it has, but trying to palm off criticism of Israel as antisemitism is just pathetic trolling. Not really surprising for this cess pit of a forum.

And there he goes, our resident half-wit drags race/religion into it again.

Israel rely on arms from the U.S. so they have to appear to be trying to stick to international law. It’s a game they have always played long before last October’s atrocity. They do what they can get away with until international pressure gets too much.

Adam the Lama to return to Saints? Is this true?

This. It’s a bit of a strange one but if Brighton were offering him a new deal he must still be half decent and he is the sort of player who would suit the possession game. -
That’s pretty special, even for you. I know a few people who supported Corbyn, they are not mental in the slightest. Probably the nicest, most caring people I know.

Or just have a different opinion to you.
