Just because some people are ignorant of the risks doesn’t mean they are not bothered if they cause a death. I don’t think your head works properly if that’s what you think.
-
Think being in lockdown has ****ed your head fella.
-
9 games in a month with regular testing would definitely cut down their partying, you’re going to be reluctant to organise that gang bang if you know a positive test could **** up your club’s season.
-
So you don’t want football to start in case they spread the virus yet instead of getting the players back to work and be regularly tested you would rather they had time off to go to parties and gang bang prostitutes.
-
But if the people involved are tested negative and isolate between matches the risk is surely not as high as thousands of fat middle aged people wandering around B&Q.

We had the same information as other governments that were shutting down. I’m no expert on viruses so was happy to take the government’s advice at the time but the New Zealand PM said it was obvious early on what needed to be done, the virus is so infectious and when the infection rate grows exponentially time is absolutely critical. Literally every day counts. When you see the effect lockdown had on the curve it is obvious it should have happened sooner. The government should be applauded for getting the required ICU beds sorted but their slow start and lack of planning has cost lives.

Re: symptoms, our government knew the same as all the others and I remember many other countries saying we were nuts at the time. The reason they gave at the time was that if we locked down too early we wouldn’t stick to it, advice given by behavioural scientists. It would be interesting to know who gave the advice and what they said exactly.

South Korea’s league gets underway today, from the bbc: “All 1,142 K-League players, coaches and club staff were tested for Covid-19 last week. All the tests were negative. Players will use personal water bottles during the match. Each bottle has a label with their name on it. All staff will wear masks on the bench. And all players will get temperature checks to enter the stadium. This will not happen today but some K League clubs will use the stadium sound speaker to cheer on players. Recorded sound effects will be played during the match. Players can hear fans cheering if they score.” Probably less risky than a bunch of fat middle aged people wandering around BnQ touching stuff IMO.

That’s my point, we could have slowed it more with quicker action, instead we have the highest amount of deaths in Europe.
-
Young people can get seriously effected but they can also die from flu. With the amount of testing they are doing, the relatively few people involved and the hysteria from the public, the likelihood of more than a few people being effected has to be close to zero. Which means the chances of someone dying has to be remote. There was some medical expert on radio 5 yesterday who has actually seen the plans, they said because of the amount of testing and precautions in place the footballers will probably be among the safest and fittest people in the country.
-
There are also ignoring the fact that if home advantage is so important playing at neutral venues makes their away games easier so it’s pretty much the same for everyone.
-
If anyone involved is stupid/selfish enough to come into contact with friends or relatives who are high risk then it is their fault if they die, not football's. If they are that reckless/dumb then their loved ones are probably at just as much risk anyway regardless of wether they go to work or not. The second point is obviously a concern but it shouldn't be impossible to get the message across that these are people who have been tested and in a controlled environment.

Germany have put us to shame over this. If you look at it logically and come up with practical solutions it should be easily achievable. The worst that will probably happen is a few 20 something blokes get a bit of a cough.
-
Yeah but it’s the same for everyone more or less, obviously the fixtures vary but no one has a real disadvantage. The only side who will probably really benefit are those who will play against teams with nothing to play for. Whilst they are usually the games you want anyway, in the current situation you can see those teams really taking it easy.
-
You appear to be under a lot of impressions that are wrong. Some people die when they get infected even when they get an ICU bed, if less people had got infected, less would have died. It’s not rocket science.
-
No but he’s the idiot who had us singing Happy Birthday when we should have been in lockdown. If you look at the effect lockdown has had on the graph, and work out where we would be now had it happened a week or two earlier and I expect his decision has cost many many lives.

Johnson, Corbyn, Trump, Biden - the World’s gone ****ing nuts.
-
Until there is a vaccine the whole industry is ****ed.
-
Obviously if the first case was in November it is possible that it spread to Europe in November. Not sure what your point is, we all know China wouldn’t have told the WHO the moment the first person was infected.
-
Agree. You get the impression West Ham and Brighton amusing the virus as a relegation get out of jail card. Will probably ruin it for everyone as I expect it won't go ahead unless all clubs agree.
-
Not really a surprise given what we know about how the Chinese government have acted. Anyway, even if the Chinese were totally transparent about the virus there would be a lag between when the virus started and when the first case went to hospital and it was identified.
-
What, some people got cold or flu like symptoms at winter time?
-
That’s a bullsh!t reason, there are many jobs of ordinary people that rely on professional sport.
-
How can you possibly work out the risks without even seeing the proposed plans in detail?
-
It’s you that is not in the real world. Premier league clubs are buying testing machines that give results in 2.5 hours. Given that the players will be in strict lockdown in between, tested regularly and be in an expertly controlled sterile environment, AND are low risk symptom wise - the risks should be easily below what will be required in over a months time IMO.
