https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0ewe4p9128o “Climate change has made the grasses and shrubs that are fuelling the Los Angeles fires more vulnerable to burning, scientists say. Rapid swings between dry and wet conditions in the region in recent years have created a massive amount of tinder-dry vegetation that is ready to ignite. Decades of drought in California were followed by extremely heavy rainfall for two years in 2022 and 2023, but that then flipped again to very dry conditions the in autumn and winter of 2024. Scientists say in a new study, external that climate change has boosted what they call these "whiplash" conditions globally by 31-66% since the middle of the 20th Century. The wildfires have spread across parts of the Los Angeles area, leading to at least five deaths, burning down hundreds of buildings, and prompting evacuation orders for more than 179,000 people. "This whiplash sequence in California has increased fire risk twofold," said lead author Daniel Swain from UCLA. "First, by greatly increasing the growth of flammable grass and brush in the months leading up to fire season, and then by drying it out to exceptionally high levels with the extreme dryness and warmth that followed." The researchers say that with every degree of warming the atmosphere is able to evaporate, absorb and release 7% more water. This "expanding atmospheric sponge" as the scientists term it, not only leads to flooding when things are wetter, but it pulls extra moisture out of the plants and soils when the drier conditions set in.”

We were streamed at my school so I wouldn't have got near fuck-wits like you.
-
Bless. Struggle with science at school did we?
-
I think they never implemented any of the 20 recommendations and also turned down a public inquiry.
-
But Trump did suggest drinking bleach, we all watched it. No journalism is free from bias but the BBC is as good as you will find. I remember an old uni mate of mine who worked there explaining all the checks they have to go through before publishing a story compared to the tabloids etc.
-
It’s not that they don’t care about child abuse, just that the motivation behind the tweets is just political dog whistling. Looks to me like finally implementing the findings of the inquiries that have taken place should be the priority now.
-
It’s not whataboutery, just using two examples to highlight certain people’s agendas. If people want an inquiry because the genuinely care about child abuse and sex crimes that’s fine, I don’t think that is the case here though.
-
I understand the differences with both cases but if it was mosques where kids were being abused and it was covered up to the highest level by the Muslim institutions you, the Daily Mail, Musk, Farage etc would be all over it.
-
Well if the same abuse had happened throughout the UK’s mosques and covered up to the highest level you would be all over it.
-
I agree it can't keep happening. I'm pretty sure that was part of the findings of the last inquiry.
-
I agree. But we all know that if the Church's child abuse and following cover-up had been carried out by Imams certain people would be making a much bigger deal of it.
-
I agree the cases are shocking, but so is what Christians are doing in the church which is also covered up by the institution and looks like it goes right to the very top. Why the calls for certain people for a inquiry into one (when there already has been one) yet silence on the other? We all know why don't we.
-
Weird how those obsessed with it don't seem to make such a big deal of the child abuse carried out by white Christians in the church and the cover-up that appears to go right to the very top. We all know why though don't we, it's not hard to read between the lines.

It’s all about the recruitment and we clearly need a DOF who knows the game. It’s obvious something is seriously wrong at the club the way they delayed the sacking of Martin. The problem is they are lurching from one mistake to another, I don’t think this new manager is the answer and I expect they will waste a load of money on his signings in January and we will end up having to pay him off halfway though next season with another clusterfuck of a squad. I would get a DOF in sharpish and let him recruit a manager to sort the squad out in the summer.
-
I disagree, as long as we get a decent manager in the summer we should have a great chance of promotion, if managed right. Big if though.
-
It us just one bad decision after another, god knows why Dragon hasn’t given them the bullet.
-
Amazingly Sport Republic made us the worst team in Prem history, sacked the manager and made us even worse.
-
Wouldn’t be against this sort of idea. The idea of a license is dated but if it is completely turned to a subscription based model it will just ruin what is good about it IMO. Probably end up losing much of the good radio and with ads stuffed everywhere.

You have to say Ralph did get the best out of him, like he did Ings. Both have done fuck all since leaving.

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES

Obviously anyone with half a brain knows there was a possibility the person responsible was a Muslim extremist, it just makes sense to wait until the facts are know before pointing the finger and slagging off a religion. -

“When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true. The crime rate in our country is at a level that nobody has ever seen before. Our hearts are with all of the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the New Orleans Police Department. The Trump Administration will fully support the City of New Orleans as they investigate and recover from this act of pure evil!” Trump would fit in round here. -

Looks like the bloke responsible is a U.S. citizen who has served in the army. -
Fuck me, you are easily amused.

Agree with this, his drive and money would be put to much better use trying to solve problems on this planet rather than shooting a rocket to Mars. Just a massive ego trip. Would obviously be a great achievement if it happens but don’t think there is much chance it will.
