Saints vs No'ton - FULL TIME (2-0, Lambert '29, Lallana '68)
Granadino replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
One observation from last night, anyone else notice that when defending corners we had all 11 men back in the box with no outlet left upfield. Surely Lallana, for example, given his height, or someone else could have stayed up the pitch for a break, especially against fairly poor opposition? -
Forgot Holloway was Blackpool manager now. Makes sense as I remember Holloway banging on about how brilliant Mule was on SSN when he came on as sub in a midweek game last season.

no thank you!

Oh yes - Warsteiner would be amazing!

Apologies if this has already been posted, but a Swiss colleague sent me this link: http://www.blick.ch/sport/fussball/international/ein-schnaeppchen-123211 Mostly all things we've heard before, but a couple of quotes which were new to me. Roughly translated: Liebherr does not want to reveal the purchase price, however, speaks of a "modest financial commitment." As to the question, why Liebherr did not decide to get involved with a Swiss club instead: "I'm not a football expert, but this project seemed very appealing." And further: "It was a unique opportunity. I had to decide quickly. "

Does anyone have a list of who is actually still in contract at the club?

"Last night I dreamt I went to Stevenage again"

Without doubt the most embarrassingly poor chant suggestion I have ever heard, and I have been reading the Saints boards for around 10 years!

Fry fiddles (not in the corrupt sense) while Rome burns
Granadino replied to OldNick's topic in The Saints
What an absolutely ridiculous response. What is interesting is that on this thread there are a couple of people complaining that they are being insulted or abused, whereas I think you'll notice that they have mainly initiated the abuse by jumping on anyone who disagrees with their opinion with a load of childish abuse (see above). Now, stop deviating the course of this thread with a load of rubbish just to up your already exorbitant post count. -

You're easily made to look a fool - a fan of attention seeking by any chance? -

Could not have summed it up better than this - brilliantly put! -
I saw Doddsy in Dunbridge on Friday - does this mean he may be returning as manager

Obviously this is good news, but why does Matty and business just make me think "Celebration Plaza"

Mark Robins for me. Has done wonders with Rotherham from a situation of financial peril and points deductions in League Two. Have heard interviews with the guy, sounds very driven and committed - would welcome him here.
-
Yes but specifically stated on SSN he was there to watch Swansea. Did indeed sound very sincere about Saints, but think it was just a general neutral's reaction - was surprised though, given things I have heard from him in the past - including comments on Fighting Talk a while back re: his thoughts of Harry Redknapp being a genius for taking us down then keeping Pompey up.

I think it sounds like Gasmi is on his way. Found the following on this Innernet forum http://www.racingstub.com/page.php?page=forumThread&msg=603587, which I have translated. Ils veulent me recruter. » Gasmi in discussions with Southampton As mentioned in yesterday’s edition, Romain Gasmi is on the brink of joining Southampton (2nd division in England) on loan with an option to buy (ED: believed to be about 1 million Euros). The Strasbourg midfielder, contracted until 2010 successfully passed a medical this Tuesday, even though he has been suffering from a fractured 5th metatarsal of the left foot for the last 15 days, and will be out of action for a further 6 weeks. “I’ve talked to the Chairman and the Manager and they both want to sign me, but I don’t want to get carried away and say I’m already a Southampton player, I’d prefer to wait until the 2 clubs have agreed everything. I’m not making any demands, I just want to go out on loan and have the chance to play. I’m staying at Southampton until Thursday afternoon. Then, I will return to Strasbourg. I won’t sign anything before the weekend because I came to England without my agent. I was surprised by the interest from Southampton given that I’m injured, but I’m really delighted.” Also interesting on there that the fans seem to think he has a lot of potential and are slightly unhappy that he's leaving, but it seems he may be a bit of a "hothead" and that he may have fallen out with the coach.

I think one of the ITKs mentioned it on a different thread...

A good point well made it does indeed say like to do business, that's why you shouldn't rush. Here's a pic of the man in question.

The google translate was pretty good to be fair, but here is my own translation in case of any doubts (first paragraph only, second para is just about some Ivorian that they want to sign). Gasmi tracked by Southampton Southampton (second tier of England) want to do business in Strasbourg. Having already recruited Morgan Schneirderlin at the start of summer, a second Strasbourg player is being lined up the English club: Romain Gasmi. The attacking midfielder, 21 years old, who is currently sidelined with a foot injury is “going there to look at the set-up” confirmed Jean-Luc Herzog, “Southampton contacted us and he could be loaned there with an option to buy”, a scenario made possible because Gasmi does not figure in Jean-Marc Furlan’s plans.

I hope Mr Pulis doesn't count as one of these signings, as he isn't a striker or a centre-back I believe, and some would probably say he's not much of a midfielder either...

Not trying to be overly down about a player I've seen little of, but given our financial position and that we are meant to be giving our academy players a go this season, I find it hard to believe we are using up precious funds on bringing in a player to play in a position which we are fairly well off in (considering how we are struggling for defenders) - especially one with a record like this by the age of 24. He has little more experience than one of our academy players, let's face it. Years Club App (Gls)* 2003-2004 Portsmouth 0 (0) 2004- Stoke City 2 (0) 2004-2005 Torquay United (loan) 3 (0) 2006 Plymouth Argyle (loan) 5 (0) 2006-2007 Grimsby Town (loan) 9 (0) 2008 Bristol Rovers (loan) 1 (0)
