Getting to the Game - What's the weather really like...??
Granadino replied to Micky's topic in The Saints
Yes, has been closed a couple of weeks, nothing to do with the weather -
Very impressed with the direction this thread had gone in since this morning. Also, Gardos seems like a solid signing. Here's hoping.

Article here: http://www.fanatik.ro/gardos-10-275123 Suggests £6M fee, Steaua to give an answer today. It sounds like they are ok with the fee but not so keen on releasing him immediately with a CL qualifier coming up. Though it does seem a problem on agreeing a sell-on clause - Saints offering 2% - SB want 10-15%.
-
German article here from this morning suggests he may instead be going on loan to Hamburg instead http://www.mopo.de/hsv/wollscheid-will-kommen-noch-ein-dfb-ass-fuer-den-hsv-,5067038,28055254.html

Celtic fan re: Forster. Signing tomorrow perhaps? (Obvs he may be lying) http://kerrydalestreet.co.uk/single/?p=13087231&t=9127241

Seeing the side Burnley put out last night certainly gave me at least a bit of perspective. Wow. It would take a miracle for that lot to stay up.

Not sure if these have been reported elsewhere here but "O Jogo" - a leading Portuguese football source (I believe) have reported this: http://www.ojogo.pt/Futebol/1a_liga/Sporting/interior.aspx?content_id=4066111 (roughly, Saints bosses (Reed I presume) were in Lisbon yesterday to present €12M offer, which was rejected both due to the amount and the way in which the fee would be paid). RE: Belhanda, I found this. http://www.afrik.com/dynamo-kiev-belhanda-fait-patienter-le-besiktas No idea how trustworthy, but it says that Besiktas have a deal agreed with the player, but he is stalling as he would prefer to go to England, where Saints and Fulham (weirdly) are allegedly interested.

Modern Languages degree and 10 years in the translation industry put to good use!

This has been misunderstood. They are talking about a player called Isco who is having a medical. He has then posted 2 pics - one is Fonte one is a baseball player called Segura. In Portuguese "Fonte Segura" means from a Safe (ie good) Source.
-
Heard them mention this on my way home from work. The guy talking about said it was a very interesting and "honest" interview and seemed to suggest there would be talk about if Morgan, J-Rod and Fonte would be leaving....

I don't know if this is new news but Tuttosport says that Taider is arriving today, Schelotto tomorrow: http://www.tuttosport.com/calcio/calciomercato/2014/08/04-302604/Inter,+Mazzarri+accoglie+Osvaldo+e+attende+Medel

Players we nearly signed but you're glad we didn't

Went for my daily run round the stadium earlier - only action was a man cleaning the windows/glass facade at the main entrance, and the LED lighting man was in - he's been there virtually every the last few weeks. Now that's ITK.

Good player, and a solid addition. Most Chelsea fans seem to rate him highly enough, and has 2 more England caps than any other of our current squad...

Only thing I can think of is The Lodge, which has indeed been sold since Rupes time, but not sure if/why this would have a big effect on talent development.

Hoping doesn't happen purely as I think Jenkinson is terrible. It may be just me, but, does anyone else think most of our replacements will come internally? I can see us signing 2 or 3, but other than that, the way I see it, the Board have employed a manager with recent success in working on a tight budget bringing through mostly young players, and given the success of the recent sales, the Board will surely not be adverse to getting these guys in the shop window. This quote from Reed was interesting in that regard, I thought: "Our position remains unchanged in that we are determined to keep our best young players at the club, as is evidenced by the decision to award Harrison Reed a new long-term contract last week, adding to the list of committed young professionals like James Ward Prowse, Sam Gallagher, Jack Stephens, Jordan Turnbull, Matt Targett, Sam McQueen and others who have seen plenty of first-team activity recently."

Says that according to UK press (not seen it anywhere myself) that Chadli could be used as a make-weight in the MS + JR deal. Says apparently Poch isn't keen on Chadli, though also says there is no evidence that we are interested in him either, so I think a case of 2 + 2 = 5...

Colin, I have about 35 of these if you fancy a swap. - if so PM me with your contacts - don't think I can send PMs. Anyone else fancy doing swaps, do likewise - I have about 125!
-
Sure that will be Villa.

Matt Piper was definitely a gazumping (and as it turned out a very lucky escape!)

Interesting that the official saints tweet re: JWP's call up was location stamped from the middle of the New Forest. Could there be schmoozing afoot? Will this Columbo-lite detective work help extend this thread even further, I hope so!
