Too pissed off to say much but their back 3 were basically too good for us, especially in the air. If we’re bringing Long on for a goal, it’s desperate. Perhaps Ralph thought he’d win something in the air. Redmond wasn’t bad, but had no real threat. Adams seems to have lost the ability to shoot. I’d probably still play them both next week as Broja can’t play and Redmond is a better defensive factor than Djenepo, but after that there have to be changes. Really missed Ings. We had three or four chances when we won the ball on the press to create shooting chances, but no-one took anything on with conviction. Also need Armstrong S back. He can shoot, pick a pass and has a brain. Today it was all too slow. Jiminez was brilliant for his goal but certainly made fools of Bednarek and Salisu. Did they dive in when they should have shepherded him away?

Agreed to an extent, but that team was good last week, so there was a case for no changes. But I still think it was the game to start Broja instead of Adams, and Djenepo instead of Redmond (or Livramento pushed forward, KWP RB and Perrauld LB)
-
I don't think Jack would have been done by Jiminez like Bednarek was.
-
Maybe KWP to RB, Perrauld on and push Livramento forward for either Redmond or Elyounoussi. And Broja fo.r Adams

Forster is the better penalty stopper, but for me McCarthy is the better keeper overall.

No

All he's done tonight is prove he's not yet up to it.

Sensible.
-
Not at all. To be any good, he's got to learn that the first job is solid defending, not showboating.

For the time being, yes

Wake up call.

Minamino scores for the Scousers.

It'll be a tough game. Got a feeling we'll field quite a strong team. Forster KWP Bednarek Lyanco Perrauld JWP Diallo Djenepo Tella Broja Armstrong or Adams
-
I think that is utter bollocks. Completely ignores the initial push on Armstrong which knocked him over and was the only reason Walker got in front of him. Just one angle made it look doubtful. All the others showed how clear cut it was. Why did they only choose to show that view over and over? Obvious. They were looking for a predetermined outcome.
-
Very much agree with this. Ref should have waved away all the players.
-
Shows how much we miss Stuart Armstrong. He runs directly and can shoot, but also is intelligent and good at seeing a pass. Even Walcott has better vision than Redmond.

This sounds feasible. The red card decision was probably wrong, as the rules say it's only red for denial of goal scoring opportunity if there is no attempt to play the ball in the penalty area (although, bizarrely, outside the box it's red anyway it it's denial of goal scoring opportunity). So the question was did he make any attempt to get the ball, and I'd accept that he did. But still a clear foul and the pen should never have been reviewed. Why didn't VAR make that clear to Moss?

He's a Chelsea player.

This. 👍. It's only the second time in 40 home games City have been stopped from scoring. That's a result.
-
A satisfying view from the Blue Moon forum: What worries me is that they didn’t hold us to a 0-0. They were the better fucking side.

You need to take a serious look at the VAR ref's actions. (It was Atkinson) Took ages to find one angle that could suggest an error then shows Moss only that. Later, also takes ages trying to find a reason not to disallow City's offside goal. This is the clearest example I've seen (but there have been plenty) of the VAR ref desperately trying to get a required outcome. There must be worries that it's corrupt. If that incident happens at the other end there is no way VAR would have even looked for a reason to overrule.
-
I could agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong and utterly deluded.
-
Dropped. Think Bednarek is seen as more solid in desperate situations. And there will be a few of those.
-
Pricing isn't the main factor. Many fans are still unwilling to return to large crowd situations.

My first live game for 18 months and I'm happy. We looked good in defence: they had virtually no chances. Just the finish missing for a win, and Broja was unlucky. And McCarthy had a good game.
