But I can't see them not getting 5 points. I'll be there for the Southend game, but it'll be all over before then. Just important to make it a celebration of a great recovery season. How many posted back in August that avoiding relegation would be success? All the what ifs are frustrating, agreed, and so many results - Wycombe, Tranmere, Brighton etc could have made a difference, but don't be depressed. This season is good news. It's just important that next is perfect - nothing less than promotion.

Why Pardew and not the team?

The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread

Another shot at Danns? Particularly if Palace go down. -
If I could actually get one, I would. I can see them becoming a cult thing.

if anyone's got the time to check, I've got a feeling that our record with Wotton in the team is surpisingly good. Perhaps the rest of the team work harder to compensate when he's in.

Ended up in somewhere called, IIRC, Thirsty Eddie's, basically cos everywhere else was full by the time we got there. Not bad, good humoured singing, quick to get beer. After game went back to Euston (from which trains to my obscure part of the world run, and also run to Carlisle ). A guy recommended a place called the Bree Louise for a good pint, and he wasn't wrong. If you like your real ale, it's great - 16 to choose from. Also do a beer takeaway for the train. Pretty quiet, beings as it was mainly Carlisle, but very friendly. Nothing but congratulations from their fans.

Agreed with all of the above. Could we transplant his left foot onto his right leg?

Forecast is getting better. Now improved to light rain, and looks like if may stay further south. Good news.

Whatever we sing, will need to make it loud to keep the Carlisle fans awake. I see their supporters leave at 4.00 am (and that's 3.00 am after they've put the clocks forward, if they remember. Carlisle really must be somewhere north of Scotland

Would give a whole new meaning to going into the Virgin St Mary on a Tuesday night.

Would like to see Shrewsbury go up. 1. Would give me an away game within 10 miles. 2. They're not very good 3. Decent ground/pitch 4. The sheer amusement of hearing "Come on you shrews" (How about When the shrews go marching in?)

:) :) :) :) The smugfulness is stupendous. -
Very unsmug thread for those STILL waiting for tickets

As starter of this thread, I have to apologise for leaving it, but I also delighted at last to be able to desert to the world of smugness. Finally dropped on my doorstep by a totally knackered pigeon (who was wearing a very smart red and white flying suit - impressed with that bit). Good luck to all those still waiting. -
Didn't go at all for the last two seasons then?

This really is appalling. It's over a month since I ordered my tickets, received confirmation and had money taken, and 4 days from the game, still no tickets. Mods - any chance of changing the thread title to Very ANGRY thread for those STILL waiting for tickets? Because I am. -

*$%*% !!! Now I read this, still having no bl00dy tickets and having driven a round trip of 400 miles to St Mary's for the game last night. Please tell me it's wrong and I couldn't have picked them up. -

They said don't worry. We're refuelling the pigeon. Call again Wednesday and it helps to make cooing noises. -
Can't believe they're not here. Just how long does it take a carrier pigeon to fly to Shropshire?

So who's received their wembley tickets in the post yet?
Shroppie replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in The Saints
Was sooo looking forward to joining the smug thread, but no tickets still and total absence of smugness. Now thinking about starting the "Is it time to panic about not having received tickets yet" thread. -
Have just spent a week in Tenerife (tough but someone's got to do it) where I met and discussed life, the universe and football (it was AI so free booze all week) with a Charlton fan. He reckons they have a consistently awful record over the last few games of every season (like we always seem to get a bad start) and gives them zero chance of automatic and is seriously worried about play-offs. Given their run-in, they could well be in trouble. We will be meeting before to game on Apr 10th to resume our serious attempt to reduce the world's alcohol lake

Better and better.

Just wondered how much we have made from the JPT so far and what we would get if we win. Can't be bad, as we've had decent crowds and one full house, two TV fees (?). What cut do we get from the Wembley sales? And more TV fees for the Final, I assume. Add prize money, if there is any, and I would have thought that it would at least have paid a transfer fee or two. And then do we get a lifetime supply of Johnstone's Red and White paint?
