  1. Sorry to spoil the entertanment with a serious comment, but I like the way he challenges the established way of doing things and sets out to break the mould. I believe the future will see many imitations.

  3. I'm led to believe that enjoying youths at my age can get you into serious trouble.
  4. Becoming an adult again when I've just got used to being a delinquent senior.
  5. Not that anyone would dream of doing it, but it appears possible to amend your date of birth on the database.
  6. I work part-time and also have a work pension so can afford it more than some. But I live 200 miles from St Mary's and a season ticket isn't really cost effective, but I regard the premium i pay for games (I can only get to about 12 home games a year) as support for the club and a guarantee of a ticket for big games. The senior discount was a big factor in me deciding to have a ST, but it's now going to hurt. And it's galling that I get 30% off the rail trip with a Senior Railcard, free bus but then have to pay full to get into the ground. I doubt it will happen, but would appreciate an amnesty on existing 60-65 year olds remaining seniors!
  7. There are others that are 65 - Brighton and Sheffield Weds for example, but the majority are 60. I am always scrupulously honest when buying away tickets and check, but doubt that everyone does. I'm interested to see how the online renewal is going to pick up that I've become younger and have to pay the full adult. They must have thought of that but there will be a lot of checking needed. And rather than springing this on us, it would have been nice if existing senior ST holders over 60 could renew at senior prices, with 65 being the age for new.
  8. But not old enough, apparently.
  9. Actually, thinking about it, I'm not totally sure. Was forgetting it was before I had a ST. But for 10-11 if we'd been in the playoffs, wasn't included.
  10. Changing the age for seniors from 60 to 65 is the killer for me. Means the cost goes up from £285 to £465 - 63% increase. And as I can only get to about half the home games, that's nearly £40 a game, plus £60 - £80 travel. Going to need some thought. I'f effectively be paying loads just to guarantee P**pey tickets, cup tickets and playoffs oif we get there. What I'm dissappointed about is there is no Membership to recognise the loyal supporter who can't get to all games.

  12. Not sure about West Ham or Burnley. Think Blackpool and Middlesboro will be strong. Otherwise, pretty well agree with this.
  13. Having just seen the blatent manipulation of a young female singer on the show tonight - force her to sing an unsuitable song, run her down mercilessly - this all seems just far too credible. Can't remember the title but Ben Elton wrote a superb satirical novel on the whole subject of talent shows and fixing the results. And the more I see, the more it rings true. Sick.
  14. Look no further than Kali Mirchi on Shirley High Street. Superb.
  15. I think I sit next to him ..... (the guy who slags off Ricky. And Harding. And Guly. And Kelvin. And ........)
  16. My admiration for Nigel has grown all season. In his first game (MK Dons) the team was basically the same as now, but they were dispirited, disorganised and looked hopeless. He has instilled a winning mentality, real team spirit, the ability to grind out results when we play badly and to impress with great football when it's going well. His use of the squad over the April fixture congestion was brilliant. I would say that we have 17/18 players who would call themselves 1st team regulars and being able to slot in replacements without any loss of quality has been vital. Add to that his management of the psychology of the game and we've got a fantastic asset who has been absolutely key in getting us promotion. Thank you Nigel, and well done Nicola for getting the right man.
  17. Don't want to see Wolves go down, but they are a very convenient away day for me.
  18. Losing 5-1 at home to Leicester in 1967 when Peter Shilton scored his only goal - direct from a clearance helped by a strong wing and an unexpected bounce on a soggy pitch!
  19. For what it's worth, if you take all remaining games to have equal probabilities of all outcomes (WDL), we have a 74.4856% (approx) chance of getting 2nd. If we beat Brentford, that goes up to 91.358%. If we draw with Brentford, it's 69.1358% and if we lose to Brentford, 61.728%. But of course, Huddersfield's result Saturday can change our chances to anything from 13.58% to 100%. But that's just a bit of fun, because all outcomes aren't equally likely. Are they? Of course, I could allocate a probability of each result for each match and come up with a more statistically sound prediction, but i do have a day job.
  20. I think we will be going up once we have more points than Huddersfield can possibly get. Chickens. Hatched. Don't count. etc.
  21. Maybe, but this is a season where we've made playoffs at least! WTF was he like the season we went down?
  22. I'm a big fan. The one thing that's annoyed me most this season is the whingeing g!t in the seat next to me who slags Dan off at every possible opportunity. Mind you, he slags off the whole team most of the time. Lambert's lazy, Guly's useless, Barnard's too small, Jaidi's too old and can't pass, Kelvin's a liability, Fonte's Portugese, Lallana fails to hoof the ball....... I really don't know why he bothers.
  23. I refuse to consider any form of celebration until the moment that it is mathematically certain that we are promoted. And totally agree with Icey and Ken Tone. Let the players and management celebrate on the pitch where they belong while we appreciate and enjoy it (if it happens) from the stands where we belong.
