Connolly's against Middlesbrough IS the beautiful game. It would be glory for the team as opposed to a piece of class from an individual player. There is some wonderful finishing and passing in there though. Also hearing "Southampton 1 Manchester United 0" and "Pompey 0 Saints 1" felt good.

Being in the position we are we shouldn't be fearing any teams in this league. It is them that should be fearing us. Of course, as fans we're always looking a few more steps ahead but it's quite clear that Adkins has the players only looking at one game at a time and rightly so. There's 23 other teams in the same boat as us and the league shows we're the best of them, so less worrying.

That'll mean he's due another shocker against the skates. In all seriousness I'm sure he'll have a great game and get stuck in. Lallana is a joy to watch some weeks. Special players in our squad. You don't get many like him but Lambert is also indispensable to us at the moment.

We've played so well at home that at times it's left me gobsmacked that we've actually been watching 'our Saints'. We've outclassed a countless amount of teams and their players. 2011 should be a very proud year for this club. Well done Saints. All great things come to an end and we're still unbeaten at home. Barnsley aren't an easy team to break down. Will watch them shortly against Ipswich and see what they're made of. Next weekend is shaping up to be a massive one for Southampton Football Club. I'm sure it'll be a rollercoaster of Championship football.

At the time before the replay and the camera's focus on Martin, I did think it was Rickie Lambert.

Chaplow was absolutely everywhere tonight. He wasn't perfect but worked his socks odd with tackles and passing throughout his time on the pitch so I wouldn't blame anyone for giving it to him. I personally however have to give it to Hooiveld. Switched on to everything for the full 90. Passed it out well and was confident with everything that came his way. He's come on leaps and bounds. Great winner too. Lovely.
