Thanks BTF - So why do different schools have different TT days in the same LEA? Surely that indicates that heads have some say in the matter, also a lot schools will change their TT days during the term, not all of them but the odd one here and there. I do believe you by the way, I am just trying to understand the complexities.
-
Teachers are entitled to a holiday too and they pay extra for that due to rip off travel companies. It's pretty hard to manage as a lot of families book an holiday, maybe a year in advance, if the head then decides to try and put a teacher training day to fit in line with the holidays, then people will have booked to be away. Teachers are on restricted leave, it'd be like a company that only allows staff to book leave at a certain time, then the boss decides to tell you that you can't have all of that week after all, as he wants you in for training a day earlier. I'm sure most would say 'well that's when I am supposed to book leave'. If you are a term-time employee then why should you come into work when it's not term-time? I agree, in principle though, TT days could surely be managed so that they don't mean kids having to have another day off school, what the solution is, I don't know but I guess it depends on the attitude of the head/governors. As in all walks of life, some don't like change.

And so be it. At least I tried to stand up for something I believed to be right, instead of surrendering on my knees and giving in. Maybe that's just self-righteousness on my part but if we are scared of being threatened there where would it end for the good guys? We might as well just roll over and give in. Weak minded people like you, hide behind the 'I'd rather be a coward and alive' but it doesn't mask the coward that you are. I have only stood up to a guy that was breaking into my shed at 4am, I went down and I was shaking with fear, rage and my body trembled. I was scared, I admit that but I don't regret it. On this occasion, he jumped the fence and ran, maybe it was my lucky night. I'd do it again though, scared ****less, as I was, I would rather by myself than you. I can look into the mirror and know that I contributed to trying to make society a better place. Whilst you would have hidden under your duvet, or got your wife to take a look, you hide behind the 'Only a 'fool would challenge an intruder, or I'm doing it so my kids still have a father' but inside you know you just didn't have the backbone to stand up for your families right to live without fear of people like this. For a burglar, you would be easy prey for another go again, he knows the path of least resistance is his easiest option, so might come back again as he knows what to expect, only next time, you might not be there, your wife and kids might be left to deal with him. How would you feel if they came to harm, knowing that you never made a stand for them in the first place? Hey, but at least you haven't come to any harm, that's the main thing I guess.

That's you trying to justify to yourself your failure to want to confront an issue, it boils down to having no backbone. I can imagine you being true to your word though, politely sitting there dialling 999 as he robs you of what you have worked hard for, taking away a little bit of your confidence and self-esteem at the same time. I bet you would make him a cup of tea and tell him " take whatever you want, because no possession in the world is worth taking a life for".......after all, you have insurance don't you. so that makes it ok! I despise this defeatist attitude, god forbid people with your attitude having a say in how our country is governed. I bet you would have burglar support groups, for those who get a good pasting after attempting to burgle some hard working family of the little bit of luxury the have. Why not have them having a platform to air their views after all? They are entitled to burgle someone house and only expect the owner to use reasonable force! They can discuss how outraged they are that honest home owners are using unreasonable force on them, when they break into a property. As the nominated chairperson, you could nod you head and say "Well they do have a point, the law is quite clear that you can only use reasonable force. I personally think that no possession in the world is worth taking a life for, after all, that's what insurance is for - agreed?" (Burglars heads all nod together in agreement) There was a time when an old fashioned old fella like me thought that 'principle' mattered. It would seem that my way of thinking is from a bygone era. Sad!

LOL.....a bloody lot, are you for real? Do you think the bedrooms are out of bounds for a burglar? What are they there for? Where do you keep your valuables? Is it downstairs? In the kitchen? Maybe in a box with 'Valuables' written on the box? I think a lot of people keep the valuable and personal stuff at close hand. I never leave cash, jewellery, car keys etc downstairs,a burglar will know that most people would do the same and would not hesitate in entering a bedroom with occupants, if he hasn't had a good haul already. He'll have no fear of you.
-
It's pretty pointless keeping your weapon of choice locked away downstairs now is it? I never expect to be burgled, I still keep my weapon of choice at hand, as you never know. So if you don't pre-meditate being burgled and then you are, but you have no weapon to defend yourself with, as you see this as wrong, what are you going to use to defend yourself if they enter your bedroom for the family jewellry? Will you be throwing rolled up socks and pants at the burgular? That'll teach them won't it.

Yes, that's right.

England U21's without a player like Lallana
Barney Trubble replied to Crab Lungs's topic in General Sports
Fear....we just don't have the players who seem to want to take a risk. It;s knocked out of the kids now, they are being coached to play it safe. Hence, what we witnessed this week, it was terrible. I realise that taking risks, carries more potential problems but I tend to believe that if you go for it, most times, you reap what you sow. They go backwards and sideways with the ball, it's like they are scared of losing possession, so work on the basis that 'If we don't lose the ball, we can't lose' - that's a terrible way to condition the players. I say let them express themselves, go for it, make a mistake and learn from that mistake. All the best players are risk-takers. -
What would be a reasonable selling price for the above on ebay? The Matt Le Tiss matchday programme v Newcastle, Matt le Tiss testimonial magazine and programme[the one in a black cover]....sold singly or together? The framed photo was bought from the official shop a number of years ago. It's a plastic frame, perspex to the front, with pics of assorted players, Le Tiss, Ted Bates, FA cup side etc. Drop me an email if you want a pic of the framed photo, i'll do my best to take a good shot but I keep getting glare.... It was £50 originally.

Spot on. All sorted, thanks.

Thanks very much, ok, next question I need to change my default method of payment for buying from my credit card to being taken straight out of my bank account. How do I do this? ta
-
I sold an item last Saturday, it was collection only. I have sent three emails to the buyer, sending him my address and mobile number. He has not responded to any of these yet. What do I do? I will send him another reminder now but I'm not sure whether I need to follow any procedure to relist or raise a dispute as he hasn't paid either. He has 100% feedback over 11 sales.

Ayman al-Zawahiri appointed as al-Qaeda leader
Barney Trubble replied to Prince Jazzbo's topic in The Lounge
I would have turned him down at the initial interview stage. If he can't be bothered to have a shave, or tidy his fluff up, to attend an interview, then that tells me a lot about his attitude. I bet his flip-flops weren't polished either, I hate unpolished shoes/flip-flops. -
There can be no excuse for rape, but as men and women, humans are a pretty sick and disturbed species. I remember being told once that "sickness is in us all" and that was by a senior psychologist/psychiatrist at a place I used to work. She said that we all have an 'other side', we sometimes only think the sick thoughts and the vast majority of us understand that the thoughts are sick or wrong and we never act upon them, or can control them. However, if these thoughts are not managed by us internally, then they can manifest and could be acted upon, if the right circumstances were to conspire on an individual. Escapism is normal for most of us, we have perverted thoughts from time to time, based on a number of factors. Fortunately, the vast majority realise that it's escapism and not normal behaviour. A lot of women have fantasies about being raped, that is not me trying to be shocking, it's a quite common fantasy in women, but they would not want that in reality, it goes back to the escapism again. We all have to accept responsibility for our conduct, men have no right to rape a women/man, but if a women wishes to dress in a manner likely to bring her unwanted attention, then there has to be some acceptance that the way she dresses made her a target. That's not right, but it's a simple measure of risk, and asking yourself if you are dressed to a social norm, if you wore a short skirt, black stockings [Cuban heels are my favourite with the ladies ;D], suspenders and a nice pair of heels to get a bottle of milk from the off license, then you are going to stand out and target yourself to a predator, but nobody would bat an eyelid at a lingerie show, that would be par course. It doesn't make it right and we all should be free to wear what we want, or don't want to. However, the streets are littered with potential sickos who think that this gives them license to force themselves upon others, as in their sick mind, YOU asked for it!

What colour was his handkerchief? A lot of men who are dressed,as you describe, tend to be up for it. I think they call it 'play-rape'. Basically, he pretends he doesn't want it, but get's his bowels busted by a fellow sexual deviant and then they have a pint. Male in tight Jeans+fit body+alleyway= Build up to the main course, it's foreplay in a sexual deviants mind.

I tend to run 5-10k every few days, it doesn't have to be a killer, just keep it simple and gradual. A good cardio class will be great for sharpening up and a bit of weights. Diet, Relaxation and Exercise are the three, free therapies, for a good mind and body. Don't push yourself too hard, remember that if you get the mind on your side, the body will be in shape in months. If you push yourself too hard; too soon, your mind will associate exercise as a negative, it needs to be fun!!! Join a club with like-minded people, I can't emphasize enough how important it could be to have support,or others around you with the same mindset. Set realistic targets to start off with and don't be afraid to reward yourself with the odd night bit of chocolate, bad food or a few beers. That won't harm you too much, in moderation, use it as a motivating factor, say once a week, then every few weeks, every month until you no longer have the crave. Once you re-calibrate your mind and condition it to not want take-aways etc, then it becomes easier. If that fails, try heroin, you will be thin as **** in weeks and have no body fat at all. I recognise that me be a bit radical, with negative side-effects, but it never fails. My neighbour lost loads of weight in months, but his teeth fell out and he gets a bit aggressive at times. He's toned though all over.

Thanks Stevo, amazing, all done in under a minute! -
I am trying to print an Adobe [PDF] document, however, the author has placed restrictions so that it can't be printed or copy and pasted. Is there a way around this problem, if so, could you please advise?
