Whilst I agree with your points on the health and welfare of players, you talk as if we can only focus on one point or the other. We simply cannot move on every time a decision is made irrespective of the morality of the decision. If we all had the attitude of stop moaning, nothing will change, the world would be a much different place. I don't have the answers as to what to do but it is absolutely vital that every avenue is explored to turn FIFA upside down over this and expose them and that poison dwarf and force it to reform or shut down. It may mean a certain amount of pain in the short term (omission from tournaments etc) but the long term picture would only improve. If anyone thinks FIFA will not court further controversy further down the road if they get away with this debacle; they are sadly mistaken.

Despite our recent slump. I have not fully given up hope of finishing 4th. Arsenal look to have 3rd in the bag so that leaves us up against Utd, Liverpool and Spurs as competition. United have a terrible run of games coming up and Liverpool surely have to have a slump based purely on the intensity they play the game added to the amount of games they will end up playing. We have as much chance as Spurs. This will likely look more unbelievable after this weekends results, should Liverpool beat Swansea and Chelsea turn us over but there is still quite a way to go. It will depend whether we can improve our performance though but all is not lost just yet. Granted we are just as likely to finish 7th than 4th but nothing has been decided yet.

What the feck is this chump on? '3-1 Blues. Rodriguez is a big miss, they have nothing to play for and Lallana won't want to hurt any of his future teammates.' This would only be possible if we wanted to join that whole farcical inter divisional loan system that Everton have undoubtedly benefitted from. Are they for real? Part of the reason Everton get right on my tits. Deluded fookwits. Hope we do a proper job on them and I am positive we will.

why league season isn't ordinary - Man U's rivals?
chestersaint replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
For what it is worth, I don't believe United will be caught by us but I don't see why we cannot target finishing above Everton. It was said at the beginning of the season that our midfield was at least as good as United's and I reckon that is true. They do more than match us in the offensive third and probably in defense given their squad depth superiority in that third. Everton however, are not as good as us, offensively or in midfield but are more competitive in defense. If we can get our first 11 all fit (just Lovren to come) then we could overhaul the current 6 point (possibly 9 with their game in hand) gap. I do believe we are better than Everton although we may just run out of games in which to catch them. If they had had the run of injuries to their squad that we suffered, we would be out of sight from them.We have yet to play Everton at home, so who knows. Ultimately, I think United will finish in 6th, above Everton with us hopefully pipping Everton to 7th. I would love it, love it if we finished above Everton. Hate them with a passion. Any team, or individual for that matter who self appoint themselves a name i.e, 'The people's club', are self important nobbers. COYS! -
I was in the same position as you 18 months ago. I wondered how difficult it could be to do them myself. I ordered the smallest window in the house (downstairs loo) for about £40 with glass, pulled the old wooden one out and fit the new one. Couple of screws either side, expanding foam and a bit ot trim and sealant and done. If you watch the Everest boys etc, they do exactly that. This gave me the confidence to do the rest and they are all brillaintly finished and make a hell of a difference. I am now left with just the patio doors which are quoted at £1700 fitted or £1100 if I do them myself. Big job tho so not decided as yet. I am no DIY expert but as long as you have a clue, i'd advise giving it a go yourself, certainly for the straight forward ones and then maybe get an expert for the trickier stuff. Then again, if money isn't an issue, leave it to the boys that know.

I know this thread is about random acts of kindness and I suppose the following is but also with a Christmas twist. An old army collegue of mine contacted an ex forces facebook page asking if anyone had a games console to sell for his kid. I know through his page that he has had some issues lately and things have been rough so I have sent him my Wii plus all the bits and bobs for nothing. I also paid for the post. My missus questioned me (she is a colder more cynical type whereas I am an old romantic) and I told her that despite all the decorations, music etc; I actually feel more Christmassy than ever. Isn't that what Christmas should be about? I reckon life is full of kind acts, but they never get the focus that the opposite acts seem to do.

I must have missed that. Still, would only require Spuds to buy it out. A deal could be struck to take over and still take the US to the Wold Cup, post season. Still a strong contender IMO.
-
I fancy a bit of Jurgen Klinsmann at 25/1 given the World Cup draw looks pretty bleak for the US, he may as well go on a high of helping them reach Brazil as it is not going to get any better. I am sure I seen a recent Football Focus interview where he said he would like to manage in England one day. Will he get a better opportunity than this? The fans love him, he has experience, good age, forward thinking and with Freund as his number two......

Keep them coming Bearsy. I too forward these on to mates. My Ispswich supporting mate particularly enjoyed your Norwich one.

I was there in 2003 in the scouse end with my new girlfriend (scouser). I am marrying her in 3 weeks. Could it be an omen? Will be there this Saturday with my scouse supporting mates, hoping to rip the p1ss out of them like I did in 2003 to the missus!! Lambert, last ten 0-1.

Where have all the derbies gone, now that we are in the Prem.?
chestersaint replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
Whist it may be a bit left field; one of the most eagerly awaited derbies around, is back this year. Certainly the biggest derby in non league football without a shadow of a doubt.... Chester v Wrexham. Believe me my friends, these derbies are nuts. If both of these teams were more sizeable then this would be a derby known around the world. The proximity aspect between the city and the town (14 miles) is added the national issue (England v Wales) and also to one of culture and history. Chester has always been the nicer, more affluent whilst Wrexham, the more industrial and down trodden. In recent years, after Chester were punished for financial irregularities by the FA and after 125 years, they died as a club only to be resurrected as a fan owned club starting from the bottom. At this point Wrexham fans called Chester a pub side in a pub league. Three successive promotions and they are back on a level playing field. So a bit of extra spice although not required. I believe the first one is televised too so a good one for the neutral. -
So you have a different view to me and as a result, I am blind and never watch Saints. If I need to go to spec savers i'll be sure to look at the latest in contemporary rose tinted glasses for you Charlie. Ok so Warnock is at Leeds and Hibbert isn't every toffee's favourite but the point I am trying to make is those players are (in Warnock's case - were) average premiership left backs, not flashy but steady. Fox is not. The fact that someone has quoted an individual time when he came on as sub against West Brom and played well, proves my point. I am not saying he is shocking, I am saying he is a liability. He plays the game like an enthusiastic teenager with all the gumption but no experience. His decision making and positional play are that of a youngster with potential not at all like a 'average premiership player' of 27 should be. Whilst I love the fact that we are courting top players from around the world; I think going into another season with a great youngster backed up by a liability is a major concern. Apologies in advance if talking sense is 'donkey crap'.
-
With all due respect to many of the previous posters on here but Fox needs to be got rid of as soon as possible. He is not an average Premier player at all. An average prem player would be the likes of Stephen Warnock (Villa), Tony Hibbert (Everton) or Billy Jones (West Brom), all of which are steady, competent and reliable. Fox has none of these attributes and if any on here seriously think our team is not weakened massively when he is involved; you are deluded IMHO. The best single word to sum up Danny Fox is LIABILITY. He has his merits, he's keen and he can deliver a great cross and perhaps he could make a decent left winger but at his age, I am sure he is aware of his best position and that is left back. Unfortunately his best is not premiership standard and let's face it, we were aware he looked dodgy sometimes in the Championship. When he is on the pitch, all my faith in the team evaporates and the other players must feel it too. In terms of replacements, there must be some NPC players that would come and relish the challenge against Shaw for an increase in wages, it shouldn't be that hard to find someone better than Fox.

Who would you like to replace Schneiderlin?
chestersaint replied to wessex saint's topic in The Saints
Could Morgan qualify for England should he wish to, based on years living here and not representing France at senior level? He has been here for 5 years..... -
That is ace, laughing my big fat head off.

Signed also. Keep the faith Cov.
-
Agree 100%. Bloody good game that despite the FA doing their best to £uck it up.
-
If we had any other left back today, we would be slating him due to the fact that every Swansea move in the first half, came from his side. We are actually judging him against previous or standard Danny Fox performances. Compared to a usual Danny Fox performance, he looked good. Compared to any other half decent left back he was ok in the second half and woeful in the first. The bloke is THE worst left back I have ever seen in the premiership and for me is the first name I hope is not on the team sheet for every game. He has liability written all over him. He didn't make any monumental mistakes today so ergo, had a 'good' game. What sort of yardstick are people on here using to judge him?
-
Is this the same chod as the Reading game? He is actually funny cos you know exactly what he is going to say.

Refer to post #20 - 'Under perform massively and pick up cheque safe in the knowledge that because you picked the players from the top teams, you are free from reproach and the problem is with the current crop of poor players' Only Roy is getting his excuses before the inevitable failure. The bloke bemoans that he can only pick from about a third of all EPL players and then adds a self imposed restriction on only considering those inside the top 6-7 teams and thus reduces his options by a further 60-70%. He is a complete f00ktard. Would it kill a manager to try thinking outside the box at least in a friendly. Surely the sign of a good manager is to spot talent early. Not wait for Ferguson et al to do it for you. Tell the press what you are teying to achieve and they will buy into it as will the general public.

Being England manager is a piece of **** nowadays. Simply look at the top 6 teams in the premier league (this can be done over a nice brew watching MOTD on a Sunday morning). Have a pen and paper to hand and systematically go through each position, noting which players are English. For example, left back; Man Utd - Evra, City - Cliche, Cheslea - COLE, Arsenal - Monreal, Spurs - Assou-Ekotto, Everton - BAINES. Ok so that is Cole and Baines. Continue through the rest of your squad and by the time Lineker starts waffling, job done. Under perform massively and pick up cheque safe in the knowledge that because you picked the players from the top teams, you are free from reproach and the problem is with the current crop of poor players. Eventually you will be removed from office after several tournament failures with a tasty severance sum only to be replaced with a new robot who's first priority in the new job is to check what time he needs to be up on a Sunday morning for a thorough bit of scouting courtesy of BBC1. It really is as simple as that and it is heart breaking that I among others are so apathetic regarding the whole thing.

I stand by my earlier post during the game. The man should be struck of, no excuse - 'As City made that final attack 35 seconds + after the injury time was up in the first half, I just watched the referee continue with the game until the ball ran to one of our defenders. At this point the ref lifted the whistle to blow until the ball went back to a City player, the whistle was immediately lowered until the ball was lost again to a saints player, where upon the ref blew up. Either time is up or it is not. It should not depend who is in possession of the ball. Now most of what the ref has done in the first half is subjective and a matter of opinion - that passage of play is not. If anyone gets a chance to review the game then look out for it. Something should be done because that without a shadow of a doubt is cheating.'
-
We should all do it, add more credence. Surely action has to be taken if the ref is seen to be favouring one side against another?
