I don't think we are technically that good. Certainly not good enough to pass quickly and accurately, or for our more skillful players to keep possession under pressure. In our own half, we pass side to side until we invite pressure and lose it. In attack, we pass side to side with no clue how to move it beyond the defence until we lose it or it goes back into our own half and the cycle starts over.

One of the most annoying things is you just know with utter certainty that we'd have fucked up that break if it had been us with a four on three. But Leics absolutely clinical with every pass.
-
Ah, so tney look like a technically much better side than us. Whenever we're trying to beat their press or move the ball through midfield, everyone looks like they're about to shit themselves in terror as they try to protect and offload the ball. In contrast their passing and movement are for the most part crisp and controlled. This is what Strachan meant when he talked about propaganda football.

I do find it odd that the team completely falls apart without Downes, and yet it seemed far from certain at the time that he wanted to join us. What was the plan if he'd turned us down?
-
We played much, much better football as recently as the games after the covid season break.

I doubt that Solak would be able to just arbitrarily fire Ankerson. He isn't an employee, he's the founder of a company Solak invested in. I'm sure DS has considerable power at board level, but it won't be as simple as snapping his fingers in displeasure.

Bloody hell, Adams finds the corner with his side foot. Miracles do happen!
-
Won the title with some cracking goals today, too.

You're genuinely confused as to why a terrible goalie gets more comments than an equally terrible fullback or midfielder?

Was actually a lovely chipped ball to him in the middle with acres of space. As it was floating towards him I allowed myself a tiny glimmer of hope that he'd bring it down, run into the gap and create something. But no, he just shinned it ten yards straight to an Ipswich player.

Well, we're currently 4th in what was meant to be a three horse race. And with a team that looks purpose built to bottle the playoffs the minute they're exposed to any sort of pressure.

As poor a finisher as I've seen in 40 years watching the club. Just reliably awful

Think you might be mixing up Mane's first game with Mane's first season.

Liverpool 3-0 Saints - Match Thread

This should make a few people feel old - that's Neil Danns' kid who just put 2 past us. Feels like only a year or two ago that people were saying we should sign his dad... -
Especially not a loan player.
-
Rothwell and Manning abject, and the rest not much better.
-
Got no answer to their press at the moment, and our only out ball is KWP running the length of the pitch. Should make changes now, this is fucking shit.
-
Mara was much better against WBA than Adam A. Front three of Brooks, Mara and Fraser and the only person who could complain would be Edozie, who has also looked sharp and played with real awareness in his last couple of cameos.
-
Cork and Morgan was a Rolls Royce midfield for this level. Absurd that we actually managed to upgrade the pairing by swapping in Wanyama when we went up.
-
Not a good sign that with a 10m+ price tag, Charles can't come in and run a Championship midfield.
-
Passing has been dreadful all over the pitch.
-
Just a small thing, but loved how calmly Edozie moved the ball clear of the block before hitting it. Would've been so easy to snatch at the chance. Quick thinking as well as quick feet.
-
Stu was useless today. Wouldn't call him an automatic pick.
-
No way Bazunu should be getting beaten there. But in keeping with the game. Adams and Stu not involved at all.

Dibling's run for the second reminded me of Tino - not particularly tricky, but very close control and surprising strength to hold off whoever is trying to keep up.
