3 wins and 2 draws will see us promoted, 86 points will be enough, we will do that easily!!
-
from a personal point of view, being over 50, been supporting saints forever, my favourite time as a saints fan was the McMenemy years, the rise from the second division, the fa cup, promotion then on to signing the European footballer of the year & runners up in 84, after that a general decline, with a few high spots in the strachan era, relegation to league one hurt a lot at the time, but turned out to be the turning point for saints, the last 3 years have been fantastic, we are on the rise, if we get promoted, i feel the prem will suit us, i can see a top half finish. Basically being a football fan is a roller-coaster experience, if we dont get promotion this time round, i wont lose any sleep, i like this league and im confident we will get promoted next year, this is a good time to be a saints fan, enjoy the moment

Turkish, before you embarrass yourself further, i can assure you that no player at Southampton Football Club has a clause that guarantees them a starting place
-
why did you make that up?
-
all i will add to this is that ive been watching saints since the mid sixty's and it is a saints fans nature to slag off at least one player in the side, no matter how we have done, ive known a lot of saints players personally over the years and most of them comment on it, at the moment its guly, most of our fans are so lacking in knowledge about football, they really dont appreciate the quallitys he brings to our side, im with nige, id play him every time he is available, a full lesson in the rules may help some fans, around me they constantly blame the ref, when 95% of the time the ref has made the right decisions, i really really hope the critism of guly is not for racial reasons, although i did hear a few racist comments at the ground yesterday, come on lads, support nige and what he is trying to achieve here, moaning at someone has never ever motivated them
-
i was there, in those days, away games were quite an adventure all far to civil now
-
53, live in bitterne, 1st game v spurs 1967, 1st away v oxford fa cup in about 1968 now season ticket holder in the northam, basically cause i prefer to stand to watch football, now the odd bit, in the 60s i lived in bishops waltham, there used to be a coach every saturday to either saints or pompey, who ever was at home, basically the same people on the coach, many people had season tickets at both grounds & had both red and white and blue and white scarfs, so i grew up watching saints and pompey, moved to bitterne in 1970 and just went to saints games, from mid 70s to late 80s i went to virtually every saints game home & away, i also have 4 season tickets in the kingsland, which i give out to customers, i used to have 4 tickets at fratton, which i also gave out to customers, but when they got relagated from the prem, they hardly were used, maybe cause of my roots i have never got into the hate pompey bit, i run a company which covers most of hampshire, i mix with many pompey fans through work and socially, really cant get a hate for them. sorry if that offends
-
So in a nutshell all we need to do is sign messi and all our problems sorted, come on nige sort it out, it's so obvious
-
i imagine someone else must of thought of this, apology's if posted elsewhere, but if this game doesn't go ahead which seems more than likely, I'm assuming ticket holders will get refunded, will there be a refund to season ticket holders as well?
-
the order i'd put them in 1) keegan by far the best player we have ever had 2) Paine 800+ games 3) Le Tiss 4) Alan Ball 5) Lambert

Birmingham 87 West Ham 86 Middlesbrough 83 Cardiff 83 Saints 82 Reading 77 must do it again & try harder FWIW i got Pompey pipping us to that exclusive 17th place -
Think I probably agree with every post On this thread, apart from the one poster who called me grandad lol, the only problem I have is why we sing so many songs about them when we are not playing them, yes I was at the 4.1 game down there and yes it hurt, but singing Pompey songs when we are playing derby really does not take the hurt away,
-
If it is only 1 in 5 songs, which Im sure was more Saturday, it's far more than ANY other club sings about their rivals when they are not even playing them
-
I noticed Saturday, that now at least every other song was about Pompey, why is this, I've been a saints regular since 1968, never did we sing much about Pompey, it's only been the last five years, earlier in the season our fans cheered when they had lost to west ham! I'd of far rathered Pompey had won, my love for saints far out ways my dislike for them, I really only think about them if we are playing them
-
never thought of a song before but this is my effort to the man city balotelli tune oooohhh were southampton. we're amazing, we're red and white the best team in hants, cause the rest are fu**ing pants when we get promotion your sure to see us dance oooohhh were southampton. we're fantastic, were red and white probably needs working on
-
i think the reason that no more concerts have been at st marys is cause where we are not in the premier league, more games are played and i think i can remember hearing that the license to hold events at st marys is limited to so many per year

Realistic Expectations for the rst of the season...

We have 2 tough games coming up, we need to regain form quick, I think 10th place are now only about 7 points behind us, unless we turn this poor run round, we will soon be out of the play off positions, but I still believe we can get A top 2 place, keep the faith COYR -
I was there, with his first touch he nearly scored, a terrific shot which went a bit wide, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought, wow we have got someone a bit special!! After that the game just seemed to pass him by, What you have to remember is he wasnt totally useless he went on to play at a fairly decent. non league level, so it wasn't blatantly obvious at the time that he was that bad
-
That was more than a rumour, he actually did want to go there, it was only his wife at the time that stopped the done deal going through- source- Tiss himself !!!
-
We found the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, but only £15 each to stay, just went and had a superb night, had breakfast in the selly sausage this morning ( what a superb name for a cafe in sellyfield ) roads were dead clear today, so as per normal another great away trip only ruined by 90 mins of football
-
seen Rhodes quite a few times, he really does look the part, the potential he showed even 2 years ago, he stands out in the same way as young versions of Keegan, Shearer & Lineker did, it really shocks me why he is still at Huddersfield (although he does love Huddersfield), even at 10 million it would still be a great signing, he will be an international player within the next 2 years
-
Kelvin even in his Sunderland days has always pushed the ball forward rather than wide, which is a basic weakness even at local football level, but he won't change now, he is a great shot stopper, has been very loyal and is the best we have at the moment, I'm sure a goalkeeper is an area nige is looking to improve, I think Lee Camp from forest would be a good shout
-
It always Surprises me with almost ALL football clubs why most of the deals are done in the last couple of days of the transfer window, surely they should be lining up potential targets in december, or do they all just forget it happens?
-
Hate to state the obvious but Could it be we are a league higher than last year and AL has found his level and is not the wonder player we all thought he was
