Plus, if you view this year as one of transition - where our best strikers and CB have been out for a large majority of the season - plus we've embedded and given a lot of our youth invaluable Prem experience - look at how Redmond, JWP, Stevens, Sims & McQueen have progressed, then you can't fail but look forward to next season!
-
Ha ha! Don't know about a former great - more Titus Bramble if you ask me!
-
I'm in a similar position and my other though was - would I be able to buy a kids seat on their own? They won't let you do it at St Marys.
-
Knee jerk reaction thread. Before this game we were in a better position than we were last season, despite having played more games with a new managerial team and a stronger league.
-
We must have one of the best, most settled defences in the league now with VVD, Forster, Bertrand and the two Euro champions!

I do think it's pretty hard to criticise Les when we've been on an unprecedented run of football league improvement since himself and the Liebers came together. If Ron wants to follow the path of greed it's not Les's fault. Ultimately he/we want commitment to the club not commitment to cash. Ron can f**k off if his current millions aren't enough...how much more does he/his agent need? Greed doesn't make a good manager. Passion, commitment and, ambition does- Les knows this!

To be fair JWP played the majority of the game in the best two performances this season (tonight and at Chelsea). He gets a lot of stick but he's obviously doing something right!?
-
Cheers Billy! Really missed the match reports - was vaguely worried that you'd given up!
-
Cheers Red & White! Really helpful and informative! Reckon we'll start off at the Terrace Bar - mainly because it's close to the station! Thanks again!

Sorry Saintasaurus, no idea about train stuff!? Getting the train up from Salisbury/London. Any good pubs anyone can suggest? Where are most Saints supporters going to end up, if anyone knows?

Everton 1 Saints 0 - Post Match Meltdown
the boy from saints replied to nta786's topic in The Saints
Exactly. who would have come and signed for us in the summer? No-one as even us Saints supporters thought we would struggle. Next season will be different (fingers crossed) and we may attract some more prolific strikers. -
Totally agree! It was a bit nostalgic - going back to our amazing Championship season! Did anyone hear the Wanyama song ('The Lion Sleeps Tonight')? Thought it was inspired!

Saints 1 Palace 0 - Post Match Nerve Reconstruction

I don't think the crowd shouting 'SHOOOOT!' every time we were near the box helped to be fair! A lot of the shots would have benefitted a tidy through pass into the box instead! Plus what has happened to Clyne? Some tidy passing, but he appears a bit disinterested since his England call up - no marauding drives down the wing or crosses into the box... -
I still can't believe that there was no booking or even a foul for the Hesketh injury! Shocking. The treatment of Chelsea on Saturday also makes me feel there's definately a unapologetic big team bias (see us at Arsenal as well recently for further proof).
-
Yeah. Just seen that. I find myself naturally wanting Bournemouth to do well, but then the attitude of some of the supporters to us, instantly makes me want them to fail!

This is true...but having a lifetime of worship from a great footballing city where he would still be scoring (no doubt he would have scored at least a couple of goals already for Saints this season) and having a stadium sing your name - then compare that to playing for your boyhood club - no goals, limited game time and low confidence from your manager...There's barely playing for your boyhood club and there's scoring goals and stadiums singing your name. I know where I'd rather end my career!

What annoys me is that Rickie could have stayed her and been a Saints legend. Instead, he's ended a great career on a total downer. I find that really fustrating! What a waste!

Lallana - Had To Leave - But Still Loves Us
the boy from saints replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
Seriously, we can't compete with your Chelsea,'s, City's, United's; even Arsenals on a monetary basis. There is zero competition if you include us in that group. -
Bony only scored twice in his first nine games for Swansea and four in the first 15. After that he was regularly banging them in. Hopefully Pelle will get a goal against Milwall and confidence will soar - although have not been particularly impressed so far but he is good with his chest!

Rickie Lambert... He plays for Liverpool don't you know?
the boy from saints replied to Noodles34's topic in The Saints
I suppose we'll have to get used to this artificial atmosphere tampering by the media as a result of true supporters being priced out the game resulting in a noticeable loss of atmosphere. The lack of competition in terms of winning the league is also probably impacting on support from clubs outside the top 5. They'll probably have to end up resorting to 'canned cheering' over the next ten years to attempt to boost the Premier League brand as lifelong supporter's attendances start to dwindle and their spaces are filled with tourists, corporate, and the 'prawn sandwich' brigade. Liverpool are one of the 'big' revenue clubs for the Premier League and 'little' clubs like Saints (that don't have much of an impact on the saleability of the league) can't be seen to have better support than the top 5. It ruins the facade. -
I know that at half time I will want a couple of bottles of lager/cider. If it means I can leave once play stops (rather than on 42 mins to avoid the queues) then it's a good idea. But will it work in reality? Worth a go. In other news the Contactless card payment queues are welcome. Nice to not have to think about withdrawing cash before a game.

Nearly 18K! Not bad going.

Hope I can dig out my 'Saints Go Wilde' t-shirt! Not had much of a chance to wear it recently!
