I think we also have too many players including the captain who have their eyes on where they will be playing next season, rather than fighting for this. Only takes a tiny percentage of one's application - avoiding that nasty challenge, not quite busting your gut - to get exploited and be on the end of a bad loss. Also, if we have a manager who is cautious rather than going for it (Selles fits that, I'd say) it offers the opportunity for other teams with more balls to go for it from the off and gain the upper hand. Perhaps when we are further adrift this attitude will prevail, to our benefit; ie when we have to go for it. Because we need to be safe before Brighton, in my view, otherwise we're down, and they will be delighted to be the ones to confer Championship status on us.

This has the ring of truth to it. If we do beat the Hammers I think Moyes will be toast, and then Rafa will come in. Just a hunch. But yes I think Bournemouth will win - just hope Leicester win too as Palace more likely to go down than them (or maybe we should hope for a draw). Think Everton will beat Spurs, who are in all sorts of trouble off the field. I think the Hammers will win 2-1

Precious little chance of this coming off this season, given length of time needed for judgement/appeal etc. So although it sounds possible, doubt if it has any more legs than Man City getting a slap on the wrists. If it was us, we'd have doubtless been thrown to the bottom of league one...

We claim another scalp, not by beating a team but by them not winning. And the manager basically sacking himself. Way to go saints.
-
You want to get relegated, and think we will win lots of games in the Championship. Righto.
-
Mitrovic - seem to recall when a Saints player manhandled a ref we had a ten point reduction (even if this was in the Cup). Let’s see. Would be handy to have another relegation candidate… (I know this won’t happen)

I said at the time that we needed to go get him when Ralph was in his turgid period at the back end of last season. We have lower expectations than Everton, meaning it was even more laughable and unrealistic to have awarded a lucrative contract (and ultimately our survival chances) to that pillock from Luton. I still have to pinch myself at the stupidity of the board and Rasmus in particular, with his ego-driven belief in numbers and not common sense. We will pay for it by having many years in the Championship or even below. Which is very sad. Going to try and see Saints in the premier while i can as much as i can in the run up to being sent down by Brighton, probably. The only thing giving me a little optimism is our goal difference is currently not the worst, meaning being level on the last day may still be ok

Just imagine if we’d got Sean Dyche when we should (despite those on here whining about his ‘playing style’). Gets results. And we’d be well clear. Bloody algorithms
-
Decent point. But it must be over a year since I saw a Saints manager pick a starting eleven and i thought yes, that's our best possible team out there. Always so many weirdnesses and seeming behind the scenes reasons for selection. Also, no belief. Selles seems to have inherited that very conservative latter years Ralph tendancy of doing nothing for ages and hoping for the best and then finally going for it when it's too late, Neat summary of our season, to be honest

Interesting to see the zip and energy Forest have as well as attacking threat, compared to us. Oh and voluble home support. I guess football is cyclical and we’re just in another downward cycle
-
Anyone who thinks Selles is any good should actually just look at his team selections. And those he was clearly behind in the mystifying ones by Hassenhuttl. Another find of pure shite. Well done Saints. Would we have preferred a loss last game and a draw tonight ? Dunno. Do know there is fuck all fight in this team, and an absolute streak of nothingness that runs right through the club like letters in a stick of rock.

Much as I hate Newcastle, them beating Wolves is a decent outcome for Saints
-
Point sadly not good enough. If we’d gone down to 10 men they’d have gone for it and won. We haven’t got goals
-
and now Everton go one up. Could be the weekend we are doomed
-
Liverpool will be back to finish the job on the last day. Had a feeling Salah was missing that. Van Dyjke looked appalling
-
Ffs Liverpool. Why choose today to be so shit? Drugs worn off from Man U game?
-
Yup. A 'minimise the goal difference suffering' kind of game in prospect. Please no Bednarek.
-
We're going to get smashed. Might get ugly.
-
Just cannot see how that is a penalty in the Chelsea game. Defender is a yard away. Chilwell hits it at him. He turns his head. It hits his hand. Absolute joke.
-
‘Must play when fit’. i fucking hate this club at the moment
-
Bednarek. For fuck sake. I give up
-
If Maddison plays they win. I'm convinced a lot of our malaise is caused by too many players more concerned about their next moves and not getting injured than pulling their fingers out and trying to keep us up. Hope we beat Leicester but we are so massively shit, with players in charge, not the manager, so fully expect another half hearted attempt at football and predictable, lifeless loss.
-
Games like this offer the opportunity to show that, whatever the opposition, Adam Armstrong always looks ABSOLUTE TRASH
-
Truly terrible attempt by Mara. Think I could have scored that.
-
Think this is actually very important for us to set the tone. If we come out lethargic and with odd team selections, even Grimsby might be problematic if they harry and press and we're not up for it or are at all billy big boots about this tie. It may come back to bite us. Instead, I hope Selles has them fired up to go for the kill from the off, or risk the lethargic half empty home support to get to them. Perish the thought that they are right up for it and take the lead. This needs to be a convincing 3-0 win with a concentration on no-nonsense defending (CC please), loads of chances, and most of them taken. All to set us up for the more important Leicester game.
