Absolutely this. And in a position which is one of the less expensive ones where big impacts can be made. It's no coincidence that our best periods have been when we have a good keeper, and decent CBs ahead of him. Seems so basic. Cannot quite believe we are so seemingly negligent in this area, and having McCarthy on the books still says everything you need to know about how poor either our coaches are in this position or those making the hires are at actually using their eyes.

Completely blind to decent keepers, Saints are. Depressing. Will mean we will be mid-table.
-
Why is this club so effing blind in the crucial goalkeeping position. Get a good one and it can make a massive difference. One area where we need proven experience. Madness
-
Agreed but not sure Tino's fee will cover both. Update - this new goalkeeper link proves that this club has been goalkeeper blind for the best part of a decade now. It's not difficult. Sign a decent one. FFS
-
Looks like Tino is off to Newcastle, then. Hope we reinvest quickly in Piroe or maybe someone who can keep goal

Trouble is both West Ham and Liverpool know that both JWP and Lavia want their moves, so their bargaining chip is that we risk having sulky players on a big salary. I hope this blows up in both of their faces, the absolute tools. If I was Brighton I'd cash in on Caicedo with Chelsea and pay 50mill of that on Lavia. Or maybe Chelsea will just come in for Lavia, partially to stop Liverpool having him. Clearly Klopp has done his usual tapping up behind the scenes, which is abhorrent. Twat. JWP will go for 35m i reckon.

Brinkmanship bollocks. They’re bluffing
-
Ooh, 'we're going to look at other targets'. Off you go then you bunch of cheapskate twats with your inflated opinion of the Kop and the magic of European nights and sentimental bollocks and YNWA tosh anthems and not liking the Sun and all that balls. He's worth £50m of anyone's money, and hopefully will be. Come on Chelsea.
-
Some transfer punter on Sky last night reckoned Chelsea will come in for him once Liverpool make their better offer (for some reason). He's going to be massive, and 50m is an absolute steal. The twats.
-
This. And he was clearly tapped up, just like they did with Van Dijke. Or is that okay because it is them? Despise Klopp.
-
Would that be known as 'Turkish Deshite'?
-
Piroe is going to stay. He is expected to stay, although he might yet leave. Ok he might go if the price is right. Exclusive! What a load of old balls. I reckon he'll come to us for 15 mill.

Terrible, terrible defending. So loose at the back again. Will keep happening unless we sign decent experience and leadership at the back, with no nonsense physical presence. E dozier looks very frust re inglese lightweight. Apart from that we’ve looked okay. But have gifted them the game thus far, by lax marking. Dear me.
-
A truly terrible user interface. Am getting decent stream tho
-
Jack Stephens should have been sent off for that. Wild retaliation kick out. Shows how little composure he has. A worry. We are looking okay today though. JWP with Smallbone pivoting makes a lot of difference to defending and going forward.
-
I really, really hope we sign some experience. At CB, GK and striker. This resell value stuff just won’t work. Didn’t we learn that last season?
-
Hope that’s all it is. One year left. Was one of our best players v Bournemouth. Big year for him. Hopefully for us. Ps West Ham are almost as insulting as Liverpool.
-
Brace yourself. The signals aren't good. Think he'll be pictured pointing to their club Crest still. *gets coat

Watched the game on the official stream last night. Have to say that on that showing I doubt we will be going up next season. Although there was plenty of good stuff in terms of going forward and way more pace than we had last season, when we lost the ball (which was very often) the oppo could slice us apart at will. And that's from a Bournemouth team that looked like they were in second gear and will likely be in trouble next season in the Prem. Our goalkeeping situation is disastrous. McCarthy is awful at most things, but great at punting the ball long and out of play. He seems to have taken the instruction 'hold on to it to invite the press' to heart, and responds with hoofing it badly. His agility is appalling. He doesn't come out enough, or go down quickly enough. And Bazanu is too error prone, despite being better at distribution. So we desperately need a good, experienced keeper. Even an older one. In front of the keeper, the marking last night was terrible. People losing their man, giving free headers. Hence two soft goals. The protection in front of our CBs was poor too, with too much easy giveaways. Until, that is, Smallbone came on. He was excellent, I thought, and linked up play and tackled really well. If I was a Liverpool scout and watched him v Lavia's performance last night, I would be confused! But Smallbone can't do it alone. I think we need another good defensive midfielder to play alongside him, which worked well when we had Oriel playing close to JWP at times, for example. If JWP is off, perhaps we do need to get Downes in. Going forward we looked good at times, and at times the possession football worked well. But as soon as we lost the ball, panic set in and it was easy pickings for Bournemouth. Any Championship managers watching will know how to easily unpick Saints' new 'tactics'. Personally, although I like Russell Martin (and have met him a few times), I'm not hopeful that it will be quite the easy ride some will expect this season. We will concede a LOT of goals. Sure, we will score a good few too, but that does not equal a steep rise up the league or auto promotion, in my view. I know it's only one game but the tactics are clear, as is our inability currently to switch to tightening up once possession is lost. And for that reason I think we will have a season of adjusting, and finishing just in the top half. If we stay patient with RM it may be that we can build on this, but it will take time. And some very astute purchases including a keeper, CDM and striker once Lavia and JWP and maybe Tino have reaped in the cash in the coming weeks.
-
McCarthy in goal. Why bother? we are fucking shit. Zero defending. Giving the ball away. Pathetic.
-
This. I think JWP will end up going to West Ham for £30m and Lavia to Liverpool for £40m. Which will be a very good outcome if we can plough that into a decent keeper and striker to replace Che who will go for about £10m
-
I think we should buy Bassey. He could live in Shirley.
-
that third kit has now been officially launched. still think it looks like someone's sneezed on it. home kit awful. away kit i now kind of like. oh for the days of good adidas.
-
I wouldn’t worry about that piece. Classic bit of fan writing. Not an ounce of journalism in it. Like something from the Ugly Inside. All puff and opinion linked together with Googled happenstance. Tosh.

Che to Bournemouth or anywhere else for that matter is good news. Get money in. Terrible striker out. Spend it on one who can actually score. Still have nightmares about those sitters.
