I always thought that if you have been given permission to speak to your manager, you will get compo, even if he then subsequently resigns. If the 2 clubs cant agree, it goes to a tribunal. Pretty sure Adkins quitting is not a way of avoiding the compensation, and NC will know that, so it all seems a bit strange!

I think I would prefer it if he had got them out of league 1 just once!

agree with all but that bit. Not sure how many decent Championship/Premier managers have a good understanding of league 1, and we do not want to do this all over again each time we get promoted. I think that if you are a good manager you should be able to adapt quickly to the league you are currently in.

Loans are a good idea when you ensure there is an option to buy at the end of them. I think we made a huge mistake in not insisting on these when getting Papa and Antonio in. Could have saved us a fortune!

I am sure I remember reading at the time they were after the money and it was said that if the money would be parachute money if they were relegated, or tv money if they stayed up. either way, it was due to them in august and they wanted it early. Doesnt stop them being CHEATS though.

I agree with Saint_Clark though, I don't think anyone is questioning the need for CM cover. What people are saying is that it is difficult to get cover in of a suitable ability, when that player will know they are only going to be cover. If we want someone to actually fight for a starting place, we need to look at CCC quality players, and I think AP is finding it increasing difficult to sell the dream at the beginning of the season (maybe it will be easier in Jan, maybe it will be too late by then). What I think it does highlight is the lack of good quality academy players coming through. Cover for injury/suspension used to be an opportunity for a youngster to stake a claim for a place. We don't seem to have that at the moment (although I think with the new academy set up in a few years we will be ok) and so seem to relying on bringing the players in from outside, which as I said above, i am wondering if that is proving a little tricky. All IMO of course.

Thats not saying we dont need CM cover, thats saying we wont get anyone as good as Morgan as cover. Not the same thing. We need someone better than Wotton as cover, not better than Morgan. Otherwise they wouldn't be cover.

I agree, however AP has no problems playing left footed players on the right so Dickson, Mills, Holmes could cover there as well. Its not the disaster some seem to think. Yes we need to strengthen, but I am happy we can still put out a very strong side on saturday without any new players coming in. If the injuries persist, I probably wouldn't want to wait till January to get cover in though.

Mills, Dickson and Puncheon can all play wide left, not really a crisis IMO. Not great, I grant you. But I don't think we have got to crisis levels yet.

How many posts have you made congratulating things he HAS done? just out of interest. Like to see if you are being balanced in your view of NC as that is what p****s me off most. You seem to only concentrate on 2 or 3 things he could have done better, but if anyone points out he has done many, many more things well yet as soon as it is mentioned, people are lambasted for 'blindly excepting NC's policies'. Friggin typical of some people on this board.

Hopefully his poorer performances in the earlier games was down to the problems he had settling in - as per AP's interview on saturday. Have to say though I left St Marys a little happier knowing AL's replacement had such a good game. Fantastic delivery into the box, bet Ricky was licking his lips.
