Would love to sign him, but with a host of championship clubs after him I'm sure he will go elsewhere.

Do the trainers have to be black?? Only I am worried as I only own white trainers and do not want to freeze.
-
I bought 2 tickets in the West Quay store on Sat morning for tonights game, not sure on the match day policy though. On another note I was not asked to prove my customer number and did not pay by card, therefore the club will have no proof that I am on the database (which I am) even though the assistant in the West Quay store had a huge sign in front of her saying "Brighton tickets only on sale to database!"

Remember Bridge's debut against Liverpool when he came on for John Beresford. I remember thinking instantly that he looked decent.
-
Definitely Fuller for me, his attitude and lack of effort were disgusting.

I know a lot of people who knock Hammond, but like you say I feel that his work goes unnoticed if the team aren't winning. Little things like winning headers and tackles and running box to box get ignored, whereas Morgan can play a brilliant pass and get praised, then do nothing for 30 minutes.

Surely if it is the under 21 squad he will be young..... Oh no I forgot, anyone of any age can play for our 'under 21' squad!

not good enough for us when here but did it at a higher level XI
rolosfc replied to Turkish's topic in The Saints
I don't know how Oakley or Ormerod can be in this. Both played regularly for us in the Prem and although they didn't set the world alight they were decent performers. Neither has exactly been a superb Prem player since. I would also argue that Kev Davies shouldn't be in there. I know he is now an 'international' but he was definitely good enough when he was here. -
Hopefully it may help him regain his confidence and form. I would not want to get rid of him on a permenant basis unless we have another decent wide player coming in. At the moment we have two decent wide players, one of whom is 17 and not the finished article yet. But, if he wants out then fair enough, need to sign in Jan then to replace him.

Looking back at the highlights I believe it may be Morgan, seemed to be his man that won the header and he appeared to turn his back a bit and not jump. To be honest though all of the goals were terrible defending, some work needed on the training ground this week.

I wasn't saying we should sell Lambert or Morgan, I am just shocked at how many people don't rate Hammond. I don't think we should sell any of our first choice 14/15 players. Chaplow has been a breath of fresh air since he has come in and since then I believe that the best partnership has been Chaplow and Hammond. I was just stating that Morgan has not performed yet this season, but thats just my opinion.
-
Hammond is our captian and is an almost ever present, I don't understand why so many fans think he will be dropped or sold soon. I would be more inclined to agree with SFC1971, Morgan has looked half the player he was last season, he does not seem that up for it and may be looking for a move.

They may be above us in the league still and think they are big time now... but they will always be our feeder club!!

Beattie free kick against Arsenal in the 3-2 win at home. Surprised he's not been mentioned more yet, scored some screamers for us, Boro away as well, can't remember the score.

I did not go to the game yesterday so I obviously cannot comment too much on the effectiveness of the formation. However, last season some of the best games we played were using the 4-5-1 formation and as I have said before, this is a very worthwile formation with the right players in the right positions. Playing with three centre midfielders, none of who have a great deal of attacking creativity and a lone striker who is unfit is not going to work. If we were going to go with this formation IMO we would have been better off playing Puncheon or Lallana behind RL and sacrificing one of the three centre-midfielders. As I said though I did not go to the game so maybe it didn't work, but as Turkish said you cannot give away 3 sloppy goals and expect to win. Hopefully the team will come out all guns blazing against Peterborough.

Having travelled to Australialast year and spent a month in Brisbane I read this thread with some interest.Very impressed with the following over there and the dedication to Markus, good work guys. I wish I'd been over there when you lot met up, it would have been great to meet some Aussie Saints fans. I do have an interesting story though from a Brisbane Roar game that I went to against Sydney whilst over in OZ. When walking out of the ground I saw a variety of English football shirts, mainly Man Utd, Liverpool etc. In the distance I then saw an old Friends Provident Saints shirt with 7 Le Tissier on the back. I went up to the guy, expecting him to be a Brit or an ex-pat, but it turned out that he had never been to England in his life or had any connections with Southampton. We went for a beer to discuss Saints and it turned out that when he was a kid the team he played for wore red and white stripes and he loved watching the English Premiership, so he became an adopted Saints fan! I thought you Brisbane Saints would appreciate this story and maybe you guys know him or have met him in a Saints shirt whilst at a Roar game. If I can dig out the photo of us I'll post it up here. COYR! Up the Roar!

SAINTS CELEBRATE 125 YEARS at the Mayflower Feb 13th 2011
rolosfc replied to mel1961red's topic in The Saints
Looks like it will be a good night, just before my birthday as well so I may treat myself. 2011 though! Could they not have fitted it in this year?? -
Our Claus only scoring 2 goals for the club, both against Dave Jones.
-
The 'PROGRAAAAAME' seller from the Dell.
-
Go back to stripes. I love the new kit, but if we kept it long term it would take away from it being a 125 year anniversary kit.
-
Lallana. Surman doesn't have much of a change of pace or anywhere near as much skill and trickery as Lallana. I would like them both though.
-
Pardew's theory was that we put out the strongest team in all competitions and try to get as far as possible. This certainly worked last season with a nice FA Cup run and the JPT win. This season however our priority is certainly only the league. Adkins recognises this and doesn't need a cup run to lift spirits, as we did last season. However, regardless of who starts we should not have a problem turning Shrewsbury over. Even though they are performing well in L2, so are we in L1 and we would be comfortable in the Championship with this team.
-
£15 is too expensive for the 1st round of the FA cup. It only costs a few more quid to go to a league game. If tickets were a tenner or less I would have been more tempted. I have paid £7.50 for the tickets to Oldham and Dag with my mates season ticket and I think deals like this should be done far more often, the attendance and atmosphere at both games was a lot better than expected.
-
Very good news, the only area of the team that we didn't have quality cover for and we now have 3 decent players competing for 2 positions. Hope we sign him on a permanant basis in Jan.

On a positive note... I thought the atmosphere in the Kingsland stand (Northam corner especially) was brilliant last night. Probably mainly due to fans like myself who would normally sit in the Northam sitting there. Just wish it would spread around the whole stadium.
