Spurr is twice the player Harding is btw. I don't agree with some of his other opinions especially the laughable attempt at claiming there strike force is better than ours (Tudgay v Lambert will be a good battle next season though) but he's right about Spurr. Keepers are probably the same. Can't really judge Sedgewick and is Miller the guy who played for Ipswich? Centre Mid? If so he's pretty decent tbf. I'd rather have Morgan mind but Miller will be class in this league if its the one i'm thinking of. Should be a good battle between us, Wednesday, Brighton and Huddersfield next season.

Also, can I just say, the very idea that the match was a tribute to Ted Bates himself I always found quite baffling anyway. The last match against Ajax, nobody even mentioned him until the 1 minute presentation at the end to the Ajax team who just gave the trophy back and everyone trudged off after being given the run around for 90 minutes. It was a mere round of applause from the fans but ultimately the game was about Pardew, Markus etc. The lack of communication is shocking and I can't believe people are still defending it (Although, I reckon we'll hear a few things in mass in the next few days/week). But I can understand why this Ted Bates thing can be seen as pretty pointless. Getting the run around for 90 minutes for a small presentation and a round of applause at the end is not really worth it and hardly a "tribute".

Not having a go or anything but do you also understand that some people might not want the game? As you said yourself, some people do, but some people don't. I don't particularly care myself, i'd love it if we played a big team but it's not up to me. It's up to Pardew/Cortese whoever. Maybe two of the people that don't want the game are Pardew and Cortese? For whatever reason, just the same as you wanting the game , they don't want the game for whatever reason. As you said, not one particular reason is wrong. Just a difference in opinions and ultimately when its all said and done, it's Cortese and Pardew's opinions that count.

This is definitely Cortese's idea is it? We've ruled out the possibility that Pardew has requested not to play a top team in pre season and get tonked on what basis then...

I just want to ask a genuine question to Alpine here. What do you actually think we are doing regarding these signings? Do you think that absolutely nothing is going on behind the scenes at all? You complain about how nothing has been announced etc but its worded in such a way that you genuinely believe that you are the only person to realise that nothing has been announced so far and that you genuinely believe you are the only person to realise that we need to streghten in certain areas. It's almost as if you think its Football Manager and you are able to get things sorted pretty quickly but you believe Cortese/Pardew/Whoever is genuinely not doing anything at all...?

You suggested Pires might be interested in joining us...That pretty much confirmed my thoughts about you. And as for you thinking Mills might be too weak to play at LB. According to one of your previous posts, you think Mills is class. So too weak or class? Also if we go 451. Then lovely. But Ryan Dickson is first and foremost a left back. As is Dan Harding. Maybe...Just maybe...We are signing players because they are better than our current ones? That is kinda what your supposed to do. I understand the love for Harding. He's good. But if people just applied some logic maybe they would understand that maybe Pardew rates Dickson as better? I've watched Dickson play a few times more than most on this board, and he's good. Bloody good. He's a better attacking option than Harding and just as solid defensively. I'd rather have him on Harding but it doesn't take me to have seen him play that maybe just maybe Pardew thinks Dickson is the better option at left back than Dan Harding. Harding is not some sort of left back god that he is made out to be on here. He had a pretty good solid season but we are in a financial position now were we can buy better players at this level if we think they are. We don't have to start putting left backs at right back to do a job because we can go out and get a right back. If we think someone is better than Harding we should sign him if we can. If we think someone is better than Lambert, we should go out and sign him if we can. **** being loyal any more, **** making do with a left back playing right back. We are aiming to get somewhere, and we need to be ruthless in our approach to get there. That is what top teams do. They are ruthless and efficient in there pursuit for there target. If Harding is surplus to requirements here then sod him. I dont think he is btw. I think he will play his fair share next season and will still be an important player, but the signing of Dickson shows our ambition because he is here to play and compete for that first team spot. He won't be here to be some back up left back, just because he played for Brentford (Who btw, people are massively under rating on this forum). We are in a position as a club where we can bring players who are better than our current crop of players. We don't have to make do with signings like Pulis etc who will do a job for us.

Well done. So he played RB a couple of times when we had nobody else. Despite him being better than any right back that we had all season I wonder why AP didn't play him there the whole season? Could have stuck Mills at left back and Harding RB for the whole season. Oh wait...Probably because he's a left back...? Can people get the idea of Harding playing anywhere but left back next season for us out of there head please? Hardly silly wanting your child to be trained by some of the best coaches in the world rather than coaches at Saints tbf. Also they idea that kids are not bought through at Chelsea is just wrong. There may not be kids in there first team now, but they have some fantastic youth coming through, many of which have shined out on loan at other clubs, including our own. The future is bright for Chelsea and there youth. Even if they don't make it at Chelsea, they have some really talented youngsters coming through.
