  1. Quite glad were away from the days of signing someone because they are a "name" myself. Ticket sales will be boosted by good results. Regardless of the success of Osgood or whoever, signing a "name" doesn't equal success.
  2. Just had a quick skip through and I'd have 21 of them. At least. Halford and Smith wouldn't get in our team. I've not liked Robbie Keane for ages so on a personal level I'd say no to him, ability wise he'd obviously walk straight into our team though. Maccarone and Butt are debateable. If Maccarone could adapt he'd be alright and if Butt was younger he'd obviously be class. Diouf ability wise wouldn't get in our team but I find him so hilarious I'd happily pay to watch him troll the Championship. The rest would be no brainers.
  3. In fairness I do see the point. I also see it more as I'm still yet to be convinced that Adkins rates Morgan as much as we all do and I wouldn't be surprised if Morgan goes at some point in the near future. He also loves Hammond and I can't see him going out of his way to drop him. So if he does sign Cork I see him partnering Hammond but anyway my point still kinda stands. Morgan is one of our better players (In a lot of peoples opinions) so I can't really see the big dissapointment if we sign someone like him. If Gobern goes we'll need someone to replace him, Cork is a step up in quality from Gobern and is young enough to be a big part of this club. Morgan has a year left on his contract I believe? Don't see him staying too much longer because he'll want to further his career probably back in France and if that is the case then getting Cork now not only helps us out this season but allows us to replace Morgan for the future too. There is no guarantee that they will play together in central midfield and Cork is a step up from Gobern who looks set to leave us. In fact...I wouldn't be surprised if we did sign Cork if we went on a signed another attacking central midfielder (Maybe one who can play out wide also tbf).
  4. Not wanting a player because he's similar to one of our better players.
  5. But surely he's too similar to Lambert therefore we shouldn't be signing him? Oh i'm so confused.
  6. Wally Downes the coach has a son also called Wally Downes. He is a journalist.
  7. In fairness Rose is an out and out winger whereas Lallana would have been competing with Cleverly and Lansbury.
  8. Ah yes. That good old English league mentality that a player who runs around a lot is worth the same or more than a talented technical footballer. Kinda depressing don't you think that a player who has made his name in the game in the lower leagues of English football because he works hard and scores a decent amount of goals (Barring 1 or 2 exceptional seasons) is suited more to our league than a 19r old footballer who is technically gifted and has potential. Short term management theory sponsored by Harry Redknapp. Personally I think the English game would benefit incredibly from taking time to try and suit these technical players into our game. Not just internationally but it terms of technical play our league would improve hugely and we wouldn't have to watch some seriously horrendous players play every week because of "there commitment to the cause" or hear comments such as "he's real asset in the air" or "his strength makes him a threat".
  9. When you say "didn't really do alot" do you deliberately forget Forte's double against MK Dons, Chaplow being a regular and N'Guessan placing the ball on Lambert's head against Exeter or are you just being stupid?
  10. No idea how legit it is but just been sent this. http://tinypic.com/r/ndtnaq/7
  11. Weren't they in Magaluf or somewhere the week before their final game "training"? It doesn't get more comfortable than that.
  12. Anybody got a link to that BHA thread all about him?
  13. Isn't it like the 3rd day of the transfer window? Don't talk utter rot.
  14. Well as Reading won't be sacking their manager any time soon...it doesn't.
  15. This. Pearson is unbelievably over rated on here. The Dutch duo obviously was a worse option so you can't defend Lowe on that but getting rid of Pearson was not the massive disgrace being made out. Some of the football he played (Obviously with a poor squad but still not too bad) was horrific and from all accounts of Hull and Leicester fans wasn't mind blowing. He should have done better with Hull last year and did pretty much just above par with Leicester.
  16. Annoyed my FA Cup, Champions League and Play Off finals accy came to an end...then realised I had a few quid on 3-0 to Peterborough and CMS any time scorer to cover it. Happy days.
  17. Carrick kept the ball better than any other Man United midfielder last night. Only Vidic had a better pass completion rate than Carrick. He's there best technical midfielder, other than Scholes of course but he obviously has other problems. Just out of interest do you rate Busquets? They play practically the same role (Obviously in different formations) in that they do the simple things and are in the team to intercept (The new modern tackling by the way, seeing as tackling is fast becoming stamped out) and to pass simply to full backs and attacking midfielders. Clearly there is a huge gulf in class between Carrick and Busquets, but that is a problem with English mentality, coaching and culture. Fletcher is an engine, he doesn't keep the ball as well as Carrick and they play different roles. They would have played together last night had Fletcher been fit. Carrick looking out of his depth last night was not his fault. It just shows the absolute difference in class between Spanish coaching and English coaching, but he's that player that is easy to criticise when things don't go well. Like Morgan at Saints. Like people will slate Busquets if Barcelona play poor.
  18. Are you serious? Probably one of the most ridiculous tactical posts I've ever seen. Carrick is the best of a bad bunch in a United midfield and has been awesome in Europe especially. Giggs too has been pretty good. Park is vital in a game like that and is probably one of the most under rated players. You seem to be implying they should have played more attackers which is actually not the way to combat Barcelona because you can have all the attackers in the world on the pitch but if you don't have the ball your stuffed (Look at the 2nd half of the United V Barcelona final in 2009 and watch Tevez, Ronaldo, Rooney stand around up top while Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets pass the ball at walking speed further up the field). Fletcher is the only one that could possibly play, but he's not been fit. Any slating of Park is laughable and to claim Carrick shouldn't be anywhere near the starting line up is also pretty stupid. Who would you recommend in midfield? Carrick is probably apart from Wilshere the closest thing England have to a technical midfielder and there is a reason why he plays in all European games for United because he keeps the ball better than anyone else in United's midfield. Which is the most important thing you need in European and International football.
  19. If you think United are arrogant you really know nothing about Barcelona do you? That said, I really hope they wipe the floor with United. Have them in an accy. Nope. It was moved to make it more accessible for families. Hence why it is on a Saturday (Although the ridiculous prices probably put off just about every family interested).
  20. Are people seriously going to cheer the appointment of a European scout? It really isn't that big news. It's good that we are finally getting some sort of scouting system abroad sorted, as we haven't had one for a while but it isn't groundbreaking.
  21. Fulham clearly desperate to not be in Europe, 5 bookings in each of there last 2, plus an immediate sending off from a sub today.
  22. Does there need to be anything official about this?
  23. Ummmm, how did you come to the conclusion that team would come 9th in the Championship? Apart from Gardner, Norris, and Brown from the bench, not one of those have impressed in the Championship or higher for years. You've literally picked a side that would struggle in League One. Flahavan is a pretty average League One keeper at best. Stephen Wright was a laughing stock at Brentford. Harley the same at Notts County. Fortune released and hardly played for Charlton hence being released. Gardner is decent enough for a Championship side. Aliadiere is pretty decent to be fair, but sticking him left wing would only nullify any ability he does have. His problem though is wage demands. Therry Racon is seriously over rated. He failed to capitalise on his hype when Charlton were half decent, so once again an average League One player. Lee Carsley is about 50 now, and has been released by Coventry. Again he'd do a job in League One but only for about half a season. Norris is pretty decent and is the best player you've picked. Your front two is a laughing stock. Both had there days years ago. One still tries his best I believe got relegated with PNE last year? and the other has found a new love for food. The team is horrific, if we sign any of them I'd be scared (Apart from maybe Norris and Gardner) as our ambition means we should be looking for better.
  24. Pretty sure he won't be in it. Look at the talent in the midfield. Shame really as I think he's better than Lansbury but the last midfield spot will probably go to him.
