  1. I think, if you're not driving, you could probably allow yourself a couple of beers too.
  2. I was thinking very similar. But when he comes in from the right he also seems isolated in our formation: that absence of an attacking focal point again. We need better support from midfield and nobody was doing it yesterday. It'll be interesting to see what our recently signed midfielders can do. The only bright spark was Dibling and his ability to keep the ball. I'd like to see him playing another ten yards up the pitch and receiving the ball rather than constantly having to come back for it. There was a Forest fan who went yesterday watching our game this afternoon and we both agree it was a shit game! Her gripe was about Hudson-Odoi, so all fans like a good moan whatever the result.
  3. My bingo card has started well..
  4. I suppose I'd better put a trigger warning on this post, but the town centre might be a bit busier than normal with Southampton Pride on. Saints shop have a nifty line in Pride souvenirs and I might splash out on a keyring. They have a Saints and Pride flag too, but as I'm not normally a flag waver won't break the habit, tempting though it is to wind up a few of our forum membership.
  5. Your name is Bob Copper and I claim my £5..;-)
  6. Did an EV drive into your rear? Not sure I know any EV fanatics but you and more particularly the guy in your videos definitely qualify as an anti-EV fanatic! This afternoon they paid me to top up the charge in my car (around a third) as there was surplus power in the grid. A couple of weeks ago drove on holiday to Italy in mine, a day there and an overnighter back, same as previously in an ICE and in a cheaper lower range model at that. As for the Kia, the driver was probably confused because the engine didn't make enough noise..
  7. WHOOSH! Mind you, it would be top trolling of Newcastle if he couldn't play for some other reason and we then claimed concussion..
  8. with all the other stiffs who can't make the Chelsea team..
  9. What has Old Trafford got to do with it? I shall continue to use various pubs with decent beer as the fizzy stuff at football grounds is often too cold, tasteless and makes me burp..
  10. There seems at least to be a little more planning (and less money!) than at Chelsea: https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/aug/20/raheem-sterling-salary-problem-chelsea-enzo-maresca-transfer-market
  11. According to the Evening Standard both Petrovic and Arrizabalaga are surplus to requirements and the latter doesn't even have a squad number. No doubt we can't afford their wages but it does show that there are some experienced and decent keepers out there..
  12. From the Guardian's 10 talking points: we did feature at the end of one, reasonably positively I'd say:
  13. I agree with you. He had options, whether a decent pass to his left to one of our players there or even just a shovel with his left foot out to the unmarked player on his right. That might have required a change of weight, instead he dithered and panicked as he does sometime. Either way not a weak, piss poor pass direct at the Newcastle player.
  14. There are two aspects to his mistake: one his decision making and he and the manager should accept that in those circumstances a boot is an acceptable alternative, the second is the actual pass after he made his decision was feek and weeble. Most keepers when they panic boot it long: McCarthy panics and gifts it to the opposition and I just hope today's incident hastens the arrival of a new keeper. I suspect the Yuki and KWP substitutions were a fitness issue and that on another occasion they might stay on. But on that showing I don't think we'll keep KWP..
  15. People on here made two predictions before the game. With one, regarding McCarthy inevitably making a mistake they were right. But all the dire predictions of being outclassed and losing 3 or 4 nil were utterly wrong. There was a lot of good to take from that and glaringly obvious where we are missing.
  16. They really aren't. Apart from in goal..
  17. I mean, there was contact for goodness sake.
  18. It was over reacting but ****ing stupid by Schar.
  19. I'll leave the comparison of stats arguments to the more nerdy amongst you, but viewing the videos it does seem that Archer has decent strength and the ability to ride challenges as well as the use of both feet and is a decent finisher, which are all cause for optimism. I appreciated edited videos can be deceptive, so we'll all be looking forward to seeing him actually play for us. It's woth noting that Lesley U also has that degree of physicality that seems necessary in the Premiership. Roll on the Forest game and whatever dodgy stream we can find for this afternoon!
  20. Sorry 🙂
  21. Cos it would be a bit silly to have their kid's shirts sponsoring a rival football club...
  22. You've started early this season Wade! If Archer can actually finish and use both feet then he must surely be an upgrade on Adams. I found it frustrating that a professional football player could be so one footed, even in tap-in situations.
  23. I wouldn't necessarily blame the scouts but the more senior people who sanctioned the move: in this case wasn't it Pellegrino wanting him and Les Reed approving? I recall when we sold Bale we got Tommy Fourpast as a make-weight. Our scout told Rupert Lowe that he was a useless goalkeeper, and when Lowe asked him how he knew the reply was "It's my job to know". Another waste of a salary amongst many others..
  24. No issues in the pub and very welcoming when I went there - The Bodega, some very nice pints and lovely fan lights - but could you do something about the away end and all the stairs?!
  25. As Trousers will no doubt tell you, it _is_ a different club that we are now rivals to! I sometimes have to remind people (I live near Portsmouth) that they only paid 0.5 pence in the pound on what they owed. I recall being on the terraces under the E or W stand at The Dell back in the mid 70s and overhearing comments about the games people had seen the previous week at FP.
