  1. Apologies if this has been posted; I had a quick look but I don't come to the site that often these days for all the wallowing in misery that goes on - and I don't mean this thread! http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/jan/04/southampton-sportinterviews
  2. Well... my colleagues in the local women's footie team don't think much of my technique for somebody so (ahem... experienced), but they didn't have compulsory hockey at school..:-) I've certainly never had any complaints in the showers although our physio (yes.. it's a lot more serious here) has commented on my strong thighs!!
  3. Oh, and I've just seen a few of the other posts. Cheers Dunc et al. I'm not in the Dolomites but the Italian Alps. Discussing somebody's quick forum post about whether they wrote 'a' or 'the' is taking the whole thing far too seriously. I'm in far too good a mood after a couple of days great snow, sun, superb off-piste and a Saints win to do the same. I can heartily recommend a positive outlook on life.;-) I'm off to wash my ski-socks.
  4. LOL, touchy! I wasn't, but I will claim more of a sense of humour! Besides, I was referring to the fact that earlier in the day I'd been up at over 11,000 feet. Sorry if you are such a tempting target to wind up, but when I wrote it I wasn't what I was thinking. Still, giggle.
  5. Sober? That was a sacrifice! Thanks for the report. Frankly aren't ugly, undeserved (?) 1-0 wins exactly what we've been missing? As I'm the true alpine Saint I've only seen a few games this season - at the beginning and Christmas. There are signs of improvement and some promising football but not quite the physical drive we need, and patently a great deal of inexperience. DMcG does seem to be getting better: strength and touch in his last game was better, IMO, but it's concerning to hear that he ran around so much after he scored as opposed to before. Is it a confidence thing, lazyness, or that he paces himself, or just wanted to protect the win he'd made?
  6. Nah, it's because I went skiing at 3000m and didn't hang around the PC. I don't normally go on Saturdays but sun and superb snow had me up there. No crowds and coming back down to a Saints win was the icing on the cake. Sue - the real alpine Saint. :-)
|Stampa| |Invia ad un Amico| In programmazione su SKY SKY Sport 1 Canale 201 domenica 4/01 h. 17:00 All I have to do now is find someone or a bar with Sky that is showing it!
  8. Yep, trying to stay upright in the stands at Wembley and realising I couldn't hug everybody. Couldn't SEE the ball go in the back of the net but I didn't have to! Must say I'm less optimistic about tomorrow than I was then!
  9. Sod, was going off for an early apperitivo..... 'spose I'll have to twitch by the computer instead!
  10. Radio Sheff were pretty complimentary about some of our passing. I still feel nervous though.
  11. "they are carving Wednesday open at the moment"...
  12. sounds like a good goal..
  13. Got Radio sheff via match console here in Italy
  14. As a friend pointed out to me the other day, that was exactly the criticism of Channon when he was first on the scene! He'll certainly get better with experience and developing physique, the question is how much.
  15. I still haven't decided whether to stay on in the UK after Christmas. Not sure if it will be available here in Italy. If so I might persuade the local snooker bar to show it on the basis that I'll drink lots of birra! I've just checked the fixtures for my womens' team and no clash there as it's the holiday break. Hmmm, decisions, decisions.
  16. Sod! I was planning to go back to Italy for New Year having seen a couple of games (Forest & Reading), but now shall I extend my stay.....? Having seen us beat MU when we were in the second div and not given a chance it would be nice to see a repeat! (Cough, choke, tongue in cheek.)
  17. He's hardly going to ruin any confidence they might have by saying otherwise, is he? I've been largely impressed with what JP has said, and he certainly gives me more confidence than Burley did. Even his comments about finances/players have a little edge in that they suggest he is using them to fight his own case for particular players/spending. No, in spite of the criticisms that he doesn't know the English game (i.e. he's not some ex centre-back with loads of experience and a coaching badge) I'm pretty happy with him. I'd certainly rather have a different chairman!
  18. Yep, and I visit the UK for Christmas. Last year two (appalling) home defeats. It was a little better during my September visit, so let's hope the next visit is better (it certainly couldn't be worse IMHO).
  19. dear 1965 - I was quoting Radio London, not a Southampton station. These: " " are quotation marks.
  20. apart from those Davis' saves about which the Radio London commentators waxed lyrical, they did say Saints "looked more than a match for Charlton" - so not too bad.
  21. Was it an art collage?
  22. Yeah, I remember Southampton Saint's women's football team juniors doing a demo before a game a few years ago. A lot better than the team I played for and VERY much better than me mate's work's team!
  23. Cheapest way to get an annual report and a seat at the AGM....
