SaintsWeb Player Sponsorship - prize winners announced!
suewhistle replied to stevegrant's topic in The Saints
There's too much unaccounted for cash sloshing around in Dubai, or maybe number of posts, so I reckon it's a fix. ;-) Still, if you can't find the wall space I can always do with new shirts for footie training: at my time of life I can get very sweaty! Thanks to Steve grant, BTW. -
FYI - he played the full 90 for the reserves against Plymouth.
-
More important I note that Kayne McLaggon played 69 minutes - good to see him coming back from injury. Plus the "impressive Antonio".. interesting.
-
You romantic fool you.;-) Plus I'll actually get some work done this afternoon instead of popping in to check the board!

Tilson (their manager) -Saints contention for play offs
suewhistle replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Thank goodness flights from Geneva, Turin and Milan aren't tooo expensive!:-) I'm sure the school I work at would let me take a day off when they realised how important it was! -
Just got in from footie training and yay, I'm called up for Sunday (3.5 hour coach ride though - that's the problem with womens' footie here) and even harder to believe, Saints have scored 3 goals! When I read the OS I saw the 3 and thought 'sod' before looking more closely!

Whether any league club would have been interested in a player recovering from injury is moot. But with Eastleigh he can still train full time at Staplewood when they aren't having their own sessions and use all of Saints facilities, he doesn't have to face a disruptive move and live out of a suitcase, and his new team mates will certainly keep him up to the mark. Plus he gets first team experience in a physical league. Good move, in my opinion.

Saints 2-2 (5-3 on pens) Torquay - Match Reaction
suewhistle replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
Arizona on the match thread... "Doubt we'll get much traffic checking in on this one, so just the one thread. Personally I'd give a few players the night off, given how we've got 3 games in 7 days." Then 12 pages! I was out at footie training, so were the depressives out in force? Looks like saints gave them good cause to moan tonight! I think shurlock has given a plausible explanation, so do people agree? I always used to think Gillet was a busy player but he isn't attack minded. Perhaps just unfit? -
Now that, at least, made me laugh. I didn't go back to read the original thread, but the signing of juniorP seems deeply suspicious and I accept all conspiracy theories in this particular case.
-
Another signing needed to really turn us around?

True, I always enjoyed Navyred's contributions: never quite read enough here to understand why he quit the forum, even if I got the general idea.. Mind you, he never did explain why we always recruited dwarves! -
Now there's an incentive!!

Can anyone see Cortese putting up with this much longer ?
suewhistle replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Good summary Dubai, and I've pointed out in another thread that I didn't come on here after Tuesday as although the result was depressing I didn't want to hear the all-too- predictable moans couched in over-the-top rhetorical language. If some posters were barristers they'd continually be pulled up for asking leading questions! Specific criticisms are fine but there are far too many blanket ones made. I'm optimistic from some of the things I hear: the way AP coaches, what he's asking of the players in terms of the "nuts and bolts", the coaching team, Lambert's increased fitness, the players recruited, the fact that he is obviously trying to get others out on loan (eg Taffazoli). The fact that no-one will take Pulis is hardly his fault!! -
C'mon guys, more comment on the football, not the comments. Having said that I didn't come on here after Tuesday's result as I could just imagine all the wallowing in misery. I noticed somewhere that they've been working on Lambert's fitness which is going to give him even more of an edge. I'm looking forward to seeing him on my Christmas visit and hope to see my first win in 3 years!

Morgan S is patently a better player than Wooton, and from seeing him at Huddersfield and SMS on my last trip home not a bad tackler, but he's by no means a defensive midfielder. Today's formation certainly seems to be suiting the opponents. Robustness and a bit of pace seems all that is needed to counteract some teams in this division.

You uncouth lot...I'm drinking Marston's Pedigree. Mind you, I think my relaxed feeling has more to do with 4-1 up than the beer....
-
Would another be too much to ask for? Goal I meant
-
Hah, it was me opening a bottle of Pedigree that did it... I couldn't wait for FT.
-
PS Arizona, when are you going to post episode 2 of your avatar?
-
or some Prosecco, or my sparkling stuff... nah, bottle always in the ready ammunition locker... it's not quite Champagne but it's good Championship level.. What's "work" by the way?
-
I'm being good here in sunny Italy as it's a bit early for me yet. Night go down to the cellar to get some Pedigree, or even some Adnams if we score more and actually win...
-
That should boost beer sales at the interval, let alone what DubaiPhil must be getting through.:-)
-
Timed at 43 minutes... I like it this way round, when _we_ score....
