    Che Adams

As long as Toro are buying him as a support striker for the work and disruptionhe does he'll do fine, but they'll be disappointed if they think they are buying a finisher. It'll only be the fans who expect more goals, I suspect.

    Che Adams

I'm going to be in Torino in the next 10 days, I'll tell any Toro fans I meet to be prepared to be disappointed and that Adams is us getting our own back for signing Lyanco from them..
  3. Isn't that a Turkish/Japanese drink with a bit of a kick?
  4. I agree with you (and often don't!). You do need a decent defence as a foundation but we were just a little too safe and risk averse, both in tactics and player selection and with our in game management and use of substitutes. With the amount of long kicking Pickford did it was like lower level Championship or below. It has its uses but not against a team like Spain with the players we have.
  5. Let's hope Ross Stewart turns up to surprise us all.. Edit: had to go to the OS as I couldn't remember his name!
  6. Brill, I can give them a bit of abuse in romanaccio. 😉
  7. Interesting analysis in this article: https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/jul/15/turning-point-england-kyle-walker-throw-in-euro-2024-final-spain The throw was certainly met with a despairing groan in my pub.
  8. Didn't stop Scotland appointing George Burley..
  9. Not disagreeing with you at all, but perhaps hard working players could result in more movement off the ball and more concerted pressing, neither of which we saw. When a team is playing well and confidently at any level there will be that movement, and we didn't see it in this tournament. Why he persisted with Kane after half time I don't know. If you'd had a vote in the pub where I watched the game it would have been unanimous!
  10. There were many grumblings in my pub about Kane. I don't particularly like it when there's a pile on but in this case I have to say that what was he there for and what did he contribute? No real movement and slow when he did, no pressing, he didn't win any balls, he didn't get off the ground.. So why wasn't he substituted at half time as the pressure Watkins put on made a difference? Rice I thought also had a poor game: slow in possession, poor passing, although in his case he wasn't helped by an unambitious and static team around him. It's the result I predicted but I wish we'd been a bit more ambitious: the only consolation was having a couple of pints less than I thought I would and saving a tenner!
  11. Why should the market for youth players be different to adults? If a lesser player comes along afterwards asking for the same money they can either accept what we think they are worth or move on. Having different pay for different abilities is common in most jobs.
  12. "Reset" = "reduce", fair enough if we want to make our academy less attractive, but how the heck do Lyon afford him (if that's where he ends up), when French clubs don't have the television money of the Premier League, nor the crowds, by and large?
  13. Yes, it would be a bitter pill to swallow if we now don't get him.. "Oh a spoonfull of Suga helps the medicine go down, the medicine go down..." Sorry, it's before my second cuppa of the morning..
  14. Alpine wasn't a troll, just hard work.. 🙂
  15. Are Lyon one of the French clubs with a millionaire owner, because many of them will be in the &&&& due to the failure of their television deal? Generally French clubs aren't that well off so as Saint86 says.. Maybe some dodgy deal, so it'll be interesting to see where he goes subsequently..
  16. That's the thought that occurred to me.. According to the OS the keepers are Rendell, Haaland and Stenson. There was another one I saw at Havant & W last year: Beth someone? Unlike all those years ago women's football is getting specialist goalkeeper coaches and it's certainly made a difference over the last few years.
  17. "Give it to Ron" surely?
  18. Welington Damascena? The likeliest one to convert into a signing I reckon.. 😉
  19. Oz, from memory, which can be a bit random. (Edit: Don Osman)
  20. As any expansion would be over the Kingsland perhaps the extra catering within the new fence is connected and they are seeing how it might work? But I presume the external wall would also be further out than now so the internal concourses would be extended, but maybe not sufficiently? Who knows? At least there is some small sign of investment going on.
  21. If you thought the flurry of transfers in June was a bit odd, so do the Premier League: https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/jul/04/premier-league-set-to-scrutinise-unofficial-deadline-day-transfers
  22. Definitely hairier though..
  23. First time I've looked at this thread (very briefly) and my, the ones I had down as right wingers are really showing their spots. It's been amazing how low profile some of the government have been during the campaign, and then there is Johnson who, naturally, has been on holiday and Gove who is on one long trip. Saw this article today which gives a flavour of our last 14 years: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/article/2024/jul/03/list-terrible-policy-conservatives-britain-2010
  24. Surely it's a virtue when a player scores when playing indifferently? Story of Ted McDougall's career!
