How about Steve Moran... fantastic goal scorer until the Skates beat him up at a night club. Think he got 99 goals just under 200 league and cup matches. Rates alongside Channon, Matt Le Tiss, Big Ron and Phil Boyer

Sorry should have been Askham, Guy Askam

Some interesting comments….. some interesting views…..some total b!”£sh^t. If you do not want to read my thoughts concerning comments on player sales, wasting money, mismanagement then go to the last paragraph. I first watched Saints when Chivers returned to the Dell in the late 60’s. I have seen Saints relegated twice, promoted once, win and lose the FA Cup, lose the League Cup and lose the Zenith Data Cup; seen them finish 2nd in the old Div 1 and watched some wonderfully entertaining football and seen wonderful players begin their careers at SFC. What I cannot understand is why Lowe is being slated for every single problem, every single financial struggle, every single player sell. To put the record straight we have always been a selling club way, way before Lowe came in: Webb, Chivers, Davies, Channon, Williams, Shearer Rod Wallace to name but a few before Lowe ever knew he would be involved with football. The real cancer in the club was Askim. That man was a leech; appointed the worst manager we have ever had, Branfoot; oversaw the sale of the club to SLH and made loads of dosh from the club over the years when he was chairman and on the board. Thankfully I believe that Askim has not been reappointed. Lowe’s big problem was the appointment/retention of managers. However, there is no evidence from any of the managers, during or after their tenure at the club that Lowe picked the team or influenced team selection. There is no doubt that Lowe decided on how much money could be spent, how much could be paid in wages, etc. But surely that is what a Chairman/Board of Directors are there for; to manage the club in a financially sound manner to ensure the long term survival. For the record had the loud mouth minority not echoed there views so vehemently concerning the reappointment of Hoddle, there is no doubt in my mind that we would not have been relegated. Lowe was prepared to appoint GH but was out voted by the board. Concerning Redcrapp, again Lowe did not want the man but was out voted. Other posts highlighted that it was not just Lowe at fault for the relegation season; players and Redcrapp were equally to blame IMHO. Wasting money and money grabbing, over the last two seasons we have wasted more money than ever and in Hoon, Delieu and co there were more leaches feeding off SFC than ever before. No boycott was called then??? Those leeches were brought in by Wilde and then subsequently earned a fortune at our expense. Not spending money: well over the years this has been discussed and Lowe has been unfairly judged on this issue IMHO. SFC has spent money. The year in question always harks back 2003. WGS spent 7.5m that summer on players. 5 years ago that was significant amount for a club of our size. Concerning the boycott, well nothing, nothing will stop me supporting my local club. To blame one chairman and then boycott for that reason alone is childish at best. For reasons of finance, travelling; then that is the persons’ choice; not to go because a person has changed the way that want to conduct their life; is their choice but not to go simply because Lowe is back………well that is a little silly. We have the best team for many years playing with desire, passion and for the shirt. We are playing the most entertaining football I have seen from a Saints team since the heady days of Le Tiss, Rod Wallace and Shearer. So what is the boycott all about??? Everyone is entitled to their opinion but some seem to be blinkered, even influenced by half truths and petty comments and unable to discern that it is not just one Chairman to be blamed but many, many more.

Sadly my father passed away at the end of last year. He was a life long Saints supporter, season ticket holder and share holder in the club. We contacted the club sometime ago to request burying his ashes in the pitch. This was completed last Thursday and I must compliment and thank the club for their thoughtful and respectful approach and attitude. They even sent all the workman/groundsman for a tea break so that the ground and the pitch area were completely empty, only our family, vicar and the senior security guard, Glen (excellent bloke!) on the pitch. Whilst we were not allowed to bury my fathers ashes in the playing area, we were allowed to bury them on the edge, just outside of the touchline opposite to where my father sat and indeed, to where my Mother still has a seat. There was no time limit imposed, we were given as much time as we wanted and use of the players lounge before and after for tea/coffee. So a huge "thank you" to SFC.

Lowe never wanted Redcrapp he was out voted by the other members of the board!! No chance of that pratt Redcrapp ever becoming Saints manager again!!

The formation on saturday was spot on... Brum did not know how to play us in the first half and all said and done we should have had more goals. Ok Brum should have scored 1 but a 3-1 scoreline at half time would have reflected the play/chances created. The formation did not cost us on Saturday, mistakes by the two centre halves for the first and the holding midfielders not covering well enough and the full back for the second. The football is fantastic and bearing in mind we have played two teams that will be in the top 6 we have done extremely well. 4-2-1-2-1 formation is far more flexible than a rigid 4-4-2, gives more outlets when in possession but needs discipline when defending, ie midfield needs to get back to cover, space needs to be closed down quickly; something we did not do as well in the second half, although had the SJ header gone in in the 47th minute who knows what could have happen. JP desevres credit for producing a team that can play that way so quickly. There is no doubt that Saints will win many games playing this way. Get behind the team, the manager and have faith and come to watch........... we need the money!!!

Cant believe the negativity from what appears to be the majority of the posts..... What has happened needed to happen, a clear out of the journey men, the has beens and those that simply are there for the money. We now have passion, pride and belief running through the team, players that want to play for Saints so why cant the supporters have the same belief?? Saints 2 1 Brum COYR!!!

I hve not posted actively for 18 months or so until last week but have read the various posts for the simple reason of being a little hacked off with Saints and numerous comments posted. However, I feel far more confident than for a long time so here goes: Alpine Saint is not slagging off the young lad, he is simply stating the obvious. An 18 year old will not have the expereince yet to cope with the pressure of this important role. He has undoubted talent and needs to gain experience. playing in France is one thing, playing in the most competitive, quick moving, fitness demanding league is another. He will need a few games to adapt. The other comment about subing players - players do need to come off even if they are playing well......... a player who is physically drained will need to come off; a player physical knackered is at greater risk of injury especially an 18 year old.

ssn is crap, a jock giving his amazing insight into football, a complete wa$%^r who obviously does not like saints. Come on you reds

Got the home shirt yesterday for me and my son. They look good and I have no prob with them. Have always brought the new shirt when the come out, seems only right to be wearing the same shirt, makes the day feel right, drinking beer, watching footie and wearing the shirt. No probs with the quality, better than the previous!

Win the first game, a foregone conclusion...... It will happen!! Then get use to it happening regualrly over the season... A few pints will be downed in celebration!!!
-
Excellent point Prof!! Agree totally...... this why I have not be posting for the last 18 or so months too much negativity. We have no choice Lowe is here and will be until someone has the cash to buy him out. If you love Saints get behind them now!!

2-0 Saints

Get behind the team, no matter what you may think of Lowe and Wilde it is the team that matters. Pesonally I have not been as excited about teh start of teh season for years. Indeed I have not posted on here for 18 months; simply reading what was said and watching Saints. at last we have had a clear out and got rid of teh dead wood and those players who simply did not care for eth club. With the blend of a few experienced players and youth I am sure we will see passion for the club form the players who care. get behind the team no matter who is in charge. Come on you reds!!!!

No doubts auto promotion!! Believe. WHat Jan has doen should have completed three seasons ago. CLear out the dead wood and bring on teh youngsters. Come on you reds!!
