  1. Is this the gueyest thread ever? I don't know any heterosexual males who use the phrase "to die for".
  2. Surely you're not referring to the virtual replica of the goal we did score, where Barnes crossed for Lineker to head in, only to be denied by the one of the greatest defensive headers of all time when Olarticoechea(I think) headed the ball BACKWARDS whilst diving full-flight towards his own goal?! I can't remember any other misses, although I was only 12 at the time and was still smarting from Maradonna's first "goal"............
  3. Was very pleased to see Guly do well today; I said to my mate in the first couple of minutes if he keeps his workrate at the same level he'd do well to last an hour, and it was no surprise he went off with cramp. Literally everything good we did going forward went through him; he seems; our first goal owes a lot to him, and also great cross from Butterfield. Also impressed with the Fonte/Seabourne partnership, and the fact that Davis must have rolled the ball out to one of our defenders 80% of the times he had it. I also only remember one "hoof" from us in the entire game, and that was from Fonte with minutes to go. Tranmere were hopelessly outclassed and didn't threaten once in the entire game; fair play for the 200-odd fans who came down, as coming from Merseyside you have to be a true fan to support Tranmere over Liverpool/Everton!! Puncheon seems to be getting back to what we saw when he first joined, and I can see him taking off once he gets a goal. Also good effort from Chaplow; we didn't miss Morgan at all. Very pleasing performance, and the "Ole"s were fully deserved.
  4. I'd go bench to start and bring him on if it's not happening; alas I can see that being the case as Tranmere will no doubt park the bus.....
  5. Just after Pardew signed I listened to an interview he did with Solent; he was talking about the players out of contract and clearly meant to refer to BWP, but instead said Bart-Williams. He was just getting his double-barrelled surnames mixed up!
  6. Or did he?
  7. Well I did hear Adkins refer to Lallana as 'Alan' in his post-match interview on Saturday, so maybe everyone's at it. Although I hope this was just a case of him getting his Ls mixed up. And still nowhere near as funny as Pardew referring to BWP as Chris Bart-Williams in an interview on Solent just after he signed...
  8. Elton Welsby?
  9. Just seen the goal for the first time; such a blatant foul on Fonte it's unreal.
  10. Puncheon's performances since the first half dozen games after he joined have answered my nagging question of why he couldn't get into a cr@p Championship side last season which were comfortably relegated.
  11. Is this just a random statement or is it aimed at the OP? I think it's perfectly reasonable what Noodles is saying.
  12. I don't see what the attraction of Billy Davies is. He got Derby promoted via the play-offs playing ugly football, who were then promptly relegated with a record lowest points total. He then failed to get Forest promoted last season and I don't see them setting the league alight this season either. And he's an ungracious winner, referring to his complete lack of any words in commisseration to Saints when Derby beat us on pens in the play-off semi-final. One promotion with a team that hoofs it 4 years or so ago doesn't make me at all hopeful that he becomes our manager, which won't happen anyway.
  13. My first reaction was shock, but having had 10 minutes to digest the news it doesn't come as a complete surprise. I just jhope we go with an English manager who's had success at this level, and not some big foreign name who has no idea of how the third tier of English football works.
  14. Was he that bad then? Merrington said he liked the look of him, I assume in a footballing sense.
  15. Wwwwwhhhhoooooossssshhhhhhhh.
  16. More to the point, since we didn't win this "must win" game, where does that leave us?
  17. I think they should have both been charged; why should it be any different for the woman, assuming what your mate tells you is true? I can't agree with hitting a woman generally though, as unless he was literally backed into a corner he would have had a few other options available.
  18. Yep, that is the actual stickman; I never knew it was so camp until I thought I wanted it!!
  19. I was all set to get the stickman tattoo a couple of years ago, until I realised how camp it actually looks.
  20. I was planning to buy the away shirt, but then realised it's a very slightly glorified version of the equivilent black/red training shirt which costs £24, so I bought that instead.
  21. I'm sure his mother loves him..
  22. My son (ahem!) is collecting the Panini World Cup stickers, and the ugliest by far is Hameur Bouazza of Algeria; I almost didn't stick it in, as it were, he's that ugly.
  23. +1, intentional stamp IMO (albeit under provocation) = Deserved red card.
  24. I'm sorry but I can't agree with that; we were all over them for the first 20 minutes of the second half; it was virtually attack against defence, and if we'd have got the (deserved) second I think we'd have put them to the sword. However, being English it was never going to be that simple of course.
