  1. I went to the one in Southsea in either '91 or '92 with a couple of mates, when we were at college. At the time Steve Wright was the main man, and I think off the back of a number of sketches he used to do at the time an "Arnie - I'll be back"type single was released?! That and Bits and Pieces is about all I can remember!!
  2. My memory of the Higuita scorpion kick is that play was still active at the time; think someone shanked a cross?
  3. To me this thread sums up why a lot of fans of other clubs consider us arrogant. We've just got promoted from League 1 and we're talking about whether we can sign the best players from a team who were 90 minutes away from the Prem!!
  4. IMO, no biscuit could ever come close to jam creams. Apart from maybe lemon puffs.
  5. To give matters a bit of perspective, Osman said two of the jokes outlined by the OP in his warm-up at the Mayflower 125th event a few months back, but on that occasion he referred to Millbrook and not Thornhill. As someone else has said, he's just tailored the jokes to the relevent audience. And FWIW, I think he's quite funny and was excellent at the above-mentioned event.
  6. Alun Armstrong I think, and yes he did go to 'Boro. Never really lived up to his potential.
  7. Oh no, don't tell me Claus is another one of those "Facebook slags" who tries to get as many "friends" as possible?! Will you be my friend even though I've not seen you for twenty years, and even then I thought you were a tosser......?!
  8. We don't get a trophy for finishing second do we? Think we'll get given a banner saying "We Are Going Up", but that'll be it. Always struck me as a bit strange that you get a trophy for winning the play-offs but nothing for coming second.
  9. What a load of rubbish; I'm sure Nige has got Sky+ rather than a video recorder.
  10. IMO a pitch invasion should be a spontaneous thing, ie not something that's debated in detail beforehand but something that just happens. I'm all for being caught in the moment (ie Sheffield Utd survival match), as that was a massive adrenalin rush and totally spontaneous, but given that we all know what the outcome will be on Saturday it seems a bit pointless to me. That said, I'm sitting in Row F on Saturday, so if everyone else around me piles on you can expect me to do so too, if only to avoid being William No Friends sat in the stand on my own!!
  11. I think (!!) I've just booked 4 tickets on-line, although the receipt does go on about a suite, so hope it's worked okay?! I'm not a season ticket holder, just logged in under my "membership" number, so it seems that tickets aren't restricted to 2 per person?!
  12. Thank you Saints for saving me a sleepless week and requiring a fingernail transplant. Was wandering around Paultons Park with my mate and our families, the pair of us sharing an earpiece each to hear Rickie slot away the penalty!! Looking forward to the party on Saturday; it's a hoot hoot!!!
  13. I was in the Chapel for both the Sheff Utd survival match and P*mpey in the cup last season and the atmosphere was fantastic for both, so am expecting the same for the Walsall match.
  14. Brentford 0-1 Saints. Brighton 1-1 Huddersfield. Then a 1-1 at Plymouth on Monday to finish the job (I hope!!!!)
  15. Look at Rickie's Di Cannio-esque feigned head-butt at El-Abd as he runs past him following Fonte totally outjumping him to nod our winner; now that is a Mastercard moment!!
  16. I had a fair bit of time for Poyet until today; what a total lack of class shown in his post-match comments, or at least the parts of it I could actually understand.
  17. As an earlier poster has mentioned, I didn't really celebrate Fonte's winner as all I could hear was the ref whistiling in the background and was convinced it had been ruled out! Just checked my texts and laughed when I saw I sent my mate one at 16.45 saying it wasn't going to happen and then news of our equaliser at 16.47; I should have more faith. I imagine the Huddersfield fans are feeling like I did last night, but multiplied by ten. So close now, just need to guard against complacency on Monday....
  18. I recently arranged my wife's new contract/phone from buymobilephones.net following a recommendation from a friend, and have had no complaints. The phone was ordered at 2pm on the Friday and turned up at 10am on the Saturday, no issues with anything. The only minor beef I have is the offer they gave to get 3 months' free line rental by "redemption"; having read how to go about claiming this they've made it very difficult to do so, although I guess that's the point really! I did some digging on Dial-a-Phone and the reviews I found were predominently bad, so I decided to give them a wide berth.
  19. I'd say there's no right or wrong age, you just have to play it by ear really. I think my two were 5 when they first went; my nipper loved it but, as mentioned above, my daughter balled her eyes out when the players came out and when we scored our first 3 or 4 goals (5-1 against Walsall last season), the volume was too loud for her and this was in the Chapel. However, that aside, she did actually enjoy the day as a whole and has been back since. By brother took his 3 and a half year-old on Saturday, which I'd have thought was a bit young, but he loved every minute of it. However, I would definitely go along with the recommendation of taking plenty of munchies; I always end up walking like John Wayne what with all the capri-suns, crisps, etc stuffed in my pockets!
  20. I don't think he was so much ball watching, but he virtually invited the lad to shoot as he showed him far too much of the goal. That said, it did take a slight deflection and Davies should still have saved it at his near post.
  21. In my opinion it was far from a pathetic performance; it was one of those games were you wonder how we're 2-0 down as we were playing quite well, we just lacked a cutting-edge until Adkins made the changes, and seemed to try to walk it in rather than shoot for some reason in the first half. I always used to think I was a 'half-empty' sort of bloke but compared to some of the fannies on here I'm positively happy-clappy....
  22. Am I the only one who thinks Mackail-Smith walks like he's sh!t himself?
  23. Did anyone else hear the reference to "Alpine Saint" on Solent during the first half? Something about having received a message that they couldn't read out? Saints were winning at the time so it would make sense if it was a negative comment.
  24. Having watched the red card incident a few times I think that Butterfield actually "manufactured" some sort of contact with the player who slid in, hence Mooney's reaction; clever or gamesmanship depending on your viewpoint. What is the game coming to if you can get sent off for pushing someone in the back though; raising hands above the shoulders front-on perhaps, but to be sent off for that was pathetic!!
