Agreed - especially the bottom bit, but as we've already said somewhere on here, Harwood-Bellis needs a properly decent, experienced pro alongside him to learn from. Plenty of good centre backs near the end of their career we could've signed instead of trying to find the next best kid to sell for loads of money. He's still young and another year in the Championship with us will only help I'm sure. Juric seems decent, I like most of the football I've seen, it's definitely been far more entertaining to watch, with more energy and busting a gut. The players will be a much fitter, leaner machine by the end of the season, hopefully going into the Championship in better shape. (I'd keep Armstrong too for next year though)

Director of Football Operations is very different to a DoF. As a simplistic view, the former is responsible for day to day processes, the operational side of things, the latter is responsible for strategy and the long term.

Such a good performance, night and day compared to a few matches ago and the players look fitter and faster, challenging hard, chasing down, loved it. Gutted we couldn't hold on for a draw, but that performance was so much better. But I enjoyed that, for once this season. I enjoyed it, despite the defeat. Everything we've been missing was there.

I can 100% see something like this too. My original thought was that Juric's contract break was there for a definite reason and that he would WANT to leave at the end of relegation, but I'm no longer so sure after the recent changes. Interesting times ahead. I just hope it starts to translate onto the pitch ...

Wow! What an absolute helmet the guy is!
-
Now there's a good shout ... although I suspect he'll be happier on the bench for the exciting team in 2nd, rather than the dishwasher team in 20th ...
-
True, but that chip for the goal was either a fluke or very very well weighted. I'm in a good mood, so I'm going for well weighted and hoping he can do some more like this ... (and yes I know, a good keeper wouldn't have been in that position)

He is shit. Have you watched him? Do you know how to play football?
-
Just when you think they couldn't make it even more shit ...
-
Exactly this! Plenty of experienced centre backs out there that the club could've brought in to help Harwood-Bellis' growth. He's got huge potential and certainly wouldn't have been picked for England if he didn't, coming from such a shit defence as Saints. Huge potential, needs PROVEN experience alongside him - exactly the problem.

I said that as NONE of them are on any TV channels, what's the point? Ridiculous. Edit: Been told they're hiding on the iplayer thing ... 🙄
-
The news had some member of the public on who said "why can't people just go and enjoy it, it's a sport, not a pub" ... FFS
-
Or we might get chosen by the FA to progress as the 'minnow' this year in their showcase final against Liverpool as they give them the treble ...
-
I think that's exactly right re Rohl. I've nothing against Juric and hope he can get this lot playing, but I just can't see him wanting to be here beyond this season and that escape route is contracted in for a very good reason. I see him as the 2024/5 version of West Brom's Pepe Mel.

Looks like his head was already in Madrid today if you watched him plodding around for Liverpool today. Their replacement (Bradley?) looked far better. On Saints - it's really sad to say this, but I wouldn't be upset if any of the current team were sold. Not one tear. I think if we kept a 'spine' of Ramsdale, Harwood-Bellis, Downes and Armstrong, that would be okay in the Championship next season. Said this already, but the club needs to offload as many as possible now, buy NO ONE this window and hit the ground running in June. Proven manager (let's face it, it won't be Juric, he'll run away anyway), good players that aren't a complete waste of fking money. None of this fannying around buying Man City youth or French youth - just players who do a job. Look at Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford - already been said, but how the fk can they find very decent players for less than the money our club has spunked on players? ARGH.
-
This, he'll go to the Dutch or French league and be reasonable. Everyone will say "shouldn't have let him go" as his 20 year old cart horse replacement leaves players unmarked and heads the ball into their goal bound path ...
-
Well, if you buy 100 players and loan them all out, you only need a couple of them to be amazing. The rest can be binned off. I hate their football model.

Stats of SR purchases of "forward" players.

Morgan Rogers too. -
Thanks - that'll do me!

Anyone done a stadium tour at St Mary's and if so, do you know if you can park there? Thanks

Who is Wellington?

Will probably spend part of the season watching from the stands! I do like the idea of someone not afraid to do hurty feelings.
-
This. Never heard of the guy, so no opinion.
-
Listening to him after the game ... I was having Martin post-match interview PTSD. Mentions of 'moments' and 'philosophy' and other such bollocks. Ugh.
-
Exactly this - I said a couple of months ago how unfit the team were and playing a game that requires more running around (like tonight) will expose their lack of fitness having been used to walking and passing. This is the most unfit Saints squad that I can remember, appalling really, the previous regime have a lot to answer for on that front. But hey, have Monday off ...
