Agreed. I watched Monday Night Football just to see what he had to say. It's interesting and he can definitely pitch a story really well and break down analysis nicely - maybe his role would be great as an assistant to someone rather than being the guy at the top of the day to day tactics / decision making? Anyway, just to say the end summed up why he and we needed to move on; what would he change or tweak, he was asked by an unsure Carragher, who you could tell was under pressure after trashing Martin so much. Martin's answer; "be more aggressive". Sigh. Oh well, we plod on.

Agreed. Never a serious party, especially given the Musk backing then not backing and then his PDA that Rupert Lowe was the best Reform MP ... always going to go one way.

Thanks Duncan, I enjoyed reading that weirdly, I take some comfort from the fact that they do actually seem to care, there is some investment and there do appear to be the right changes happening. Too many mistakes; senior management hiring, first team management hiring, ridiculous player transfers - but hopefully that can be started to put right from NOW (not next season, NOW) with the right senior management getting the right manager and sorting out the transfers. But the key is now, we need to hit the ground running when the players come back from their summer break. Next season I want to return to St Marys seeing a committed team, playing good football, up in the top 6 - perfect. The nail on the head you hit was communication, it has been poor and that is something that can be improved today. I don't mean posting marketing guff on LinkedIn (which seems to happen a lot), I mean proper communication with the actual fan base. Statements of intent, a high level strategy and how they'll action it. We march on?? (I hope)

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Patrick Bateman replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Absolutely this. Starmer went up a lot in my estimation yesterday, fair play to him. As for the MP who resigned today, she's a wally - idealistic wally totally detached from how the political game is being played right now. -
Spot on. Trump and Vance are bullies, sat there like a pair of weedy bullies picking on one guy. They've lost most of the world's support over this, fk them.

Paul Merson said last night "the groundsman needs to put extra lights in the scoreboard" ...
-
Did anyone watch Sky Sports afterwards? Paul Merson was the most scathing I've ever heard a pundit about how utterly terrible the Saints team are as footballers. He was saying something like "I've seen Saints results and heard about the performances, but I hadn't seen it first hand this season but god they are terrible, really terrible, probably the worst Premier League team I have ever watched" and this went on for quite some rant. Some might not like Merson, but regardless, that is an ex-pro sat there destroying fellow pros, a damning indication of just how bad this team is, how bad the recruitment has been, how bad the management are, how half-arsed the players are and generally just how shoddily run this club has been. The owners were lucky to see promotion and get the extra income, but manager after manager has been utter trash and player hire after player hire has been beyond trash and frankly it's like they're letting a 9 year old pick players from Football Manager. Is it any wonder Jesse Marsch turned the job down after meeting them? (I'm sure he wouldn't have kept Saints up, but would've been better the following season). No wonder Moyes, Potter and co were nowhere near the job either. Absolute shit fest all round. I was calm last night as it was inevitable, but the more I read, the more I watch from people saying how bad it was, the more angry I get. I was going to get my son and I season tickets in the Championship next season, but I think that unless drastic changes are made NOW, we won't bother. The club are down. Strip out the management right now, top to bottom, recruit well now, well ahead of the summer break to allow a fast start to a championship season with players that give a fk with a competent management team.

I actually have no real emotion ... I don't like anyone who is part of our football club. Not one member of staff to do with the men's team and not one member of senior management. Please can you all just fk off.
-
I guess this is "shop window" time for him. However looking like a lumbering oaf won't get him any bids from Premier League teams and if he was English born and bred, I'm pretty sure he'd be at Luton or Millwall or something. Sorry, I didn't see anything to think he's going to be anything special.
-
Absolutely 100%, this! Utterly useless
-
I think the point is that we have a load of melts in the team who would crumble in a derby at Fratton park. I hope I'm wrong though. I'd love to have had Alcaraz here for this one, at least he had fight in him.
-
I've said before, but with this team, I would not be sad if any player left the club - no player makes me feel like we should go all out to keep him. So as sad as it is, because I thought he was going to be good, if Downes is being a stroppy cock, then he can leave even sooner. If he ends up staying, he better be bloody good next season - a lot of goodwill to make up.
-
Right now, Ramsdale is the only player of Premier League quality in this squad.
-
I didn't go and I've since turned my free stream off. Really can't be bothered with this lot and this season.
-
Useless cunts.
-
This team piss me off so much, I'm annoyed I wasted 2 hours of my day watching it on the internet. I could've done something more interesting like wash the cars in the freezing cold. Seriously though, what is wrong with most of them? Second half just looked so half-hearted most of the time. I don't actually have much to say ... shit and irritating. Logging off to go cook and chop stuff up.
-
Got that written all over it.
-
Is he still available? Can't do a worse job in our midfield ....
-
"City" ... come on, which city, Cardiff? You know better than that. Also, I can't fkn stand the love in with the champions league, load of rubbish, terrible new way of doing it too, ugh. Yeah I'd love to be following Saints around in it, but it's still awful.
-
Richard Dryden and THAT performance vs Newcastle ...
-
Same. Let's face it, the squad is going to change, there will be a lot of movement - he's getting better performances from the team and from players cast into the shadow before. All I know if I have enjoyed most (ahem, not Brentford) of our matches a LOT more than under Martin. Result is the same so far, but enjoyment has been higher. Now to add to the points ...
-
Bridge was one player I was genuinely sad to see leave the club. Shaw, Bale, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chambers and many others didn't really bother me, but Bridge was one. Kevin Davies the first time he left annoyed me and when we lost Shearer, Flowers and Kenna leaving around the same time annoyed me too.
-
We've had some terrible away followings, I think the worst for me was when I went to Middlesbrough away, Saturday 3pm kick off, we won 3-1, Beattie scored, think it was 2001. But must've barely been 300 or so Saints, really small away following but also the Riverside had masses of empty seats too. Great result, utterly dreadful atmosphere. Still I don't remember anyone trying to sing about Pompey then ........
-
What a load of crap, I despise all this youtube rubbish and boxing is now just a complete joke, a shame. No idea who this KSI is, but what a knob. Bridge should stay well clear of this utter drivel.
-
Good, as Turkish says - I think they needed a bit of ruffling. I presume Bereton-Diaz and Fraser were ruffled given their disappearances. With Cornet gone, Lallana not featuring (now the football is faster), Archer merely a bit part, Edwards shipped out, randoms from South America who signed halfway through the season, and apparently 2 Japanese kids who join end of this season, I keep circling back to how bloody appalling our summer transfer window was. Awful. Juric and the new leadership team (?) have so much work to do it's ridiculous.
