Don't forget the large number of people who work in retail who can't make it in December. West Quay was open until 9pm on Tuesday, for example. I work Saturdays in December, but, because I'm the boss, we shut at 1pm to make sure I still get to the match.

Sorry to go on about this, but I followed Steve Grant's instructions, went into my account, clicked on to Cup Match and Season Renewals, and all I got was one drop down box with a meaningless code in it and an expiry date 07/09. Like many others, I've now given up and ordered by phone.

Just spent a frustrating 20 mins trying to order my season ticket seats for the JPT semi-final. I only want to order 2 seats for 2 season ticket holders, but when I click on the match it doesn't give me the option of choosing my own seats. Also wants to charge me the price for non ST holders. Anybody else found their way round the site's wrinkles, as I know when I renewed my season tickets their instructions were as clear as mud?

Thought Morgan was shocking today. If we play 4-4-2, we need someone stronger in the tackle than him alongside Hammond. With Lallana, Antonio and Waigo all being attacking players, it's essential that we have someone strong, organised and good when we haven't got the ball in front of the defence. Wotton is not the greatest but he is the right type of player - this League is his level and has looked adequate when he's played this season. The worst bit was the aimless crossing from deep - scary memories of last season. Thought Waigo should definitely have been on sooner. Still, against a team that were really up for it, we created enough chances but failed in front of goal.

Graham Potter was known as Pansy Potter in our household, due to to tackling abilities.

Saw Leeds v Norwich a few weeks ago and Norwich looked pretty good - some quality passing football. They should never have lost, it was just a howler in injury time. Leeds were dead lucky, which is what happens when you are top.

My heart sank when I heard what was wrong with Kevin. My husband and I have a very close friend suffering from the same type of dementia, still in his 40s with a wife and 8 year old daughter. He was a qualified barrister who worked for Solent University who has suffered for the last 4 years. He is now permanently in a home outside Wilton, incontinent, unable to speak properly and turning violent -it is the most distressing illness. It is extremely rare, but patients usually start by losing all empathy for other people. I don't think heading the ball is in any way connected with this - the sufferers at one time in this country are only in the hundreds, and our friend was a junior international squash player, but never played football. Kevin's family need our help and best wishes, as I realise what they are going through. Kevin can probably not feel sympathy from other people or feel sorry for himself. I do know, however, that all my friend's care is paid for by the local authority, despite his generous pension settlement from the University.

Have we ever had a non league team in the cup? I thought it had to be our best chance yet this season, the odds of getting a decent team away were pretty remote. However, we've managed it. I think Bournemouth went through year after year getting Bristol City or Rovers away in the cup. At least it's not too far to travel.

I've got a feeling Reading might want him back, especially the way that they are playing.

Poor Ron. Such sad news. Has he got any family out in the States to help him through this, or close friends? At least he will have the NHS to help him with his own health problems if he comes back here. My first football memories are watching Ron and Terry Paine - they got me into this life-long addiction (is that good or bad???)
-
Remedy Oaks suits Matt's game because he can get the ball to go a very long way, as long as some of the pros, and this course has some very long holes. I think he's about a 4 or 5 handicap. My husband played with MLT last week at Woburn. Have you played there, because he said it was a fantastic course?
-
Just hope Drew gets some first team football. Watching Bridgey the other week, he didn't look as good as when he left us - too many years bench-warming. Bale definitely left too soon and I wouldn't be suprised if he ends up out on loan - it will do him good. There's no substitute for playing and you never get those years back. Let's face it, even playing for Saints you can set yourself up financially for life if you look after your money wisely.
-
Are you seriously at university?? Where have you been all summer when Saints' plight has been discussed in such detail on here and on the media? Didn't you understand any of it? As for John B's comment that he doesn't care about failing businesses, only his football club, Saints are a business, like it or not, and time is needed to turn things around.
-
If you think that you can turn any kind of failing organisation or business around in a matter of weeks, then you have obviously not gone through this experience yourself. When we took over our business ten years ago it needed a year to get it on the right track and starting to make a profit. All existing staff have to be assessed - they might be good people who just need more training, they have learn your way of working, systems have to be updated. The people you need cannot instantly be found at the drop of a hat, life's not like that. Sometimes it can take a year for the right person to become available. All you can do is start to get things on the right track, knowing that the hard work will eventually begin to pay off. So far the new signings have been as good as we could possibly hope for considering our current status, the team is definitely playing better, and results will come. It's a mammoth job. Ferguson took several years to turn around Man U, why should it happen for us overnight? WGS didn't start winning the minute he was appointed. If we followed the knee-jerk reactions of some of posters on here we would have a different manager every 6 weeks. I can understand some of the teenagers on here having some pretty irrational opinions because of their lack of real experience, but you have to wonder at some of the adults.

He actually had a very successful loan spell at Blackpool 2006-7 season, the year they got promoted, playing 20 games, so he has already shown he can play well at this level. Better than Wotton anyday, and a hugely better attitude than Sneiderlin. I'd like to see him given a game alongside Hammond.

I'd heard that Pinnacle had beaten the Liebherr bid by a matter of hours. ML's team thought that Pinnacle did not have sufficient funds in place to enter the exclusivity period and were extremely suprised when Fry granted it to them. As we now know, they certainly didn't have sufficient funds to complete a takeover. I'm also absolutely sure that MLT was convinced that it was going through, but I'm afraid his lack of experience in the business world caught him out. Someone who knew about the ML bid told me that he was not giving up because it was quite normal for the bid that looks like it is in the driving seat to fall through at the last minute when it comes to parting with the cash.

DellDays, surely you don't share the standard, hackneyed view of football supporters? They might actually sell more if the standards improved, which I'm sure is their aim. Anybody know who we should send our comments to?
-
I agree, and it's not that difficult to get it right. If they can't serve proper draft beer, just serve bottled beer. I know that they would have to pour it out for us because the glass wouldn't be allowed on the concourse, but there should be a choice of something drinkable. Even the choice of beer in the King Alfred is not as good as it used to be - the London Pride used to be excellent but seems to have disappeared during recent visits. The food is also inedible - they obviously think that football supporters will eat any old rubbish as long as its unhealthy and got ketchup on it.

Saints have always performed better with a strong disciplinarian in charge, and our players, young or old, seem to need it. After the horrendous last couple of years strong leadership is absolutely essential. You look at Rasiak and wonder how good he could be if he could really be arsed; the same with Saga. It hardly sets the right example to the young players. The last few seasons it seems that as long as you've done enough to earn a contract, that's good enough - hopefully that scenario is now at an end.
-
Good riddance. It's players with his sort of attitude that got us relegated.
-
I don't want Wise anywhere near our club - he's a disaster. He relegated Leeds and helped Newcastle on their way with some truly appalling signings - players who were nowhere near good enough for the Premiership. He certainly can't pick a player. He's also incredibly dislikable as a person at a time when we are wanting the club, staff and supporters to unite. I also can't imagine WGS either working with a DOF or being one himself.
-
I wouldn't take anything that Mark Dennis says seriously - he knows no more than you and I. Rational thought is a bit of a problem for him.
-
What questions would you ask managerial candidates if you were ML?
Jackie@home replied to eelpie's topic in The Saints
Do you play left wingers on the left and right wingers on the right, or do you think Burley and Poortvliet were right?? -
Not as good as he thinks he is - lightweight and can't shoot for toffee. He didn't even look Championship standard last season. Typical of many youngsters coming through today; think they've made it when all the hard evidence is to the contrary.
-
So who will be renewing/buying a ST?
Jackie@home replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in The Saints
Renewing for my 21st year as a season ticket holder - dragging along the husband as well. I'm sure he'll moan about the standard of League One football, but it is one of his husbandly duties to accompany me!
