Utterly pathetic. We never looked gutless last season. At least we went out to a Premier League side last year. How can we not have control of the midfield with Morgan, Vic and JWP playing??? Can only be attitude. Totally buggers up Saturday's match as well.
-
Changed completely when Morgan had to come off. Might have been able to cope if we'd had Corky on the bench, but disrupting the defence by moving Toby didn't work. Crossing today was really terrible. I know Pelle has done much the last few games but he's really not had the service. I would have taken off Tadic rather than Mane. Mane erratic but occasionally dangerous, Tadic out-muscled and crossing was dire!

Yes, what so many of the big teams with the money seem to ignore, you can actually improve throughout your career with dedication and the right coaching. He one of the guys that held everything together through our turbulent summer.

THE GUARDIAN: Interview with Dušan Tadić
Jackie@home replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Very good double page interview with him in the independent on Saturday. Obviously very happy here and no mention of other clubs. I'm sure someone more technical can provide a link. Several crossovers with this article, but worth a read. -
I agree. Gerrard is just past it. Typical, making him England captain when he is at the point in his career when he shouldn't be in the side! As for Woy encouraging Ricky and Lallana to join Liverpool, that's worked out well, hasn't it??

Saints vs Sheffield Utd (A) Capital One Quarter Final
Jackie@home replied to Bearsy's topic in The Saints
There's a very good hotel in one corner of the ground. I stayed there when watching Salisbury in the FA Cup a couple of years back. It was dead cheap that time as well. We even got a tour around the ground from the Sheff Utd owner who was having coffee in the hotel - very friendly people. Unfortunately, getting time off this close to Christmas is a no-go for so many of our supporters, including me. -
Had tickets for the game but couldn't go because husband had man-flu. Last time this happened was the 5-4 away win at Norwich! Absolutely brilliant, can't wait for Saturday!
-
Perhaps after the frantically busy transfer window closed, the club will now have time to sort out Jack's contract. He was brilliant again yesterday. Nice to see that Ronald sees what so many of us do, and started with him this weekend. A superb team performance, well worth watching for a second time on Sky, despite the inept commentary! I'm expecting it a lot tougher next Saturday, though.
-
Just heard Franny being interviewed on Radio 5; that should help raise some more money. Mark Chapman said they would put it out on social media.
-
Too right! Every Saints supporter can give something for the huge effort Franny has put in. Looking at the number of donations so far, I'm hoping more of our supporters get around it this weekend. We need to keep the lad going with our support.
-
If Taider wasn't going to fit in and work hard, best to get rid of him quickly. I don't think Ronald suffers fools too gladly! I think he's a decisive guy, and best to act now rather than have another trouble-maker at the club.
-
Would be madness to sell him. Surely Ronald could see his impact off the bench yesterday? One of the reasons we looked so static on Saturday was because Corky wasn't playing. The whole team's play flows so much better with him in the side. Bombarding Koeman's twitter sounds a good idea. For goodness sake, we've had enough trouble keeping our best players, let alone pushing one out of the door. Crazy!
-
Pleased that Koeman highlighted that we were playing far too slowly; we always play better when we play at a fast tempo. Hopefully he will realise that he is more likely to get this with Corky in the side than JWP always playing the safe pass backwards or sideways. The midfield always flows much better with Corky in the side. Ricky Lambert might be getting past his best, but I think we will miss him more than any other player. His first touch and ability to bring others into play from that forward role is difficult to replicate. It's going to take time - they've only being playing together for a few weeks, if that. Last year's team had several players who'd played together for 5 years, and even then, we were struggled to score without Rodriguez.
-
No keeper is faultless, but he will definitely save us a few points this season. First impressions are very good.
-
Heard some of the commentators on 5 live saying that Rhodes doesn't contribute enough to the game, and you couldn't get away with his limited contribution in the PL. Perhaps we'll find out.
-
I think holding on to our players might be a bit easier now that we don't have a chairman and manager encouraging them to leave and stirring things up in a very negative way in the background. Of course, we will still lose players, it's unrealistic to think otherwise with the current system and FFP weighting everything towards a handful of clubs, but it will be the odd one or two, rather than wholesale changes. I hope the board will keep their ear to the ground after what's happened this year, and make sure that they are not too distant from what's going on in the dressing room. They definitely under-estimated how vindictive Cortese was and how two-faced MP has turned out to be. If I was them, I would not sell any players to Spurs, it doesn't matter how large the bid.
-
Not really, just talked about the style we would be playing, generally offensive, on the front foot, mainly 4-3-3. Pro-active rather than re-active, which was good to hear.
-
Yes, on first thing. After watching Jose play beach football - bit of eye candy for us female supporters! Then, bad memories brought back by interview with Nigel Quashie. Seem he's disappeared to Iceland now.
-
Good article, and it explains Saints predicament well. I've always thought that it was not coincidence that Cortese left after the FFP rules came in. I can imagine that he might have wanted to flaunt the rules, but we know that the likelihood is that the authorities will come down like a ton of bricks on a club like Saints, but clubs like Man City will get a punishment that they are in a position to cope with quite easily. Fair play it certainly isn't, as even that tabloid idiot Martin Samuels has worked out. Too many posters on the forum ignoring the consequences of FFP!
-
He might turn out to be a good loan signing and cheap, like Corky. Being at a club like Chelsea, young players get sent on short-term loans all over the the UK, not settling anywhere and having to adapt to different systems and managers. No wonder they don't perform at their peak. I'm sure he has got to the age where he needs to establish himself regularly in a Premier League side, rather than be touted around on loan. He will be incentivised to do well with us. Let's give him a chance!
-
Perhaps only Spurs have made bid for Morgan, and a derisory one at that, so the Board were never going to accept it, whatever their motives. Fed up with these over-inflated egos, as if playing for Saints was suddenly the worse job in the world. What a balls up! Just can't understand why they didn't bring in a couple more players before selling half the team. Even if Kat's looking to recoup some of her outgoings, it was obvious we were going to have to buy SOME replacements, even lower grade ones. We're bound to miss out on some players because of what's happened, so we're even more likely to end up with the mercenaries just here for the pay packet.
-
He kept losing the ball and putting us in trouble, that's the important bit!
-
Thank God for that! Actually, if you look at who bottom half team's are signing, we don't seem to be missing out on anybody who would be a definite improvement to our side.

Ronald Koeman was a world famous player in his day, you must young, everybody I know had heard of him! He would have had plenty of options regarding employment, hence he had the confidence to finish his contract in Holland.
