When you think what he's missed out on, European football and cup semi final, he has really lashed up his career, even if he does end up with a well paid move. He's not going to get many more opportunities at his age.

Heartily agree with you. I would say the majority of the Kingsland stand are some of the longest standing season ticket holders. I was one of those who moved en masse from the Upper East Stand at the Dell. We all meet up at the match, and enjoying the banter is all part of supporting Saints. At the Sunderland game I ended up queuing for ages with thousands of people trying to get in before kick-off because nobody knew where they were going and had to find the correct turnstile. Queues were so long people didn't know if they were waiting in the right line. This time I've booked seats opposite my season ticket, but I notice that 1 block was already unavailable, even though it had just gone on sale. However, looking over to the Itchen centre during the Sunderland game, there were several hundred empty seats in prime positions. Very annoying!

Totally agree. Far too much rotation meaning we never play our best side. It's not the best time of year to change managers, I'd rather wait until the summer to see if he improves, but the signs don't look good.

I was really pleased for him when he won the Euros, now I'd rather he hadn't played. Typical of what happens when players get international call-ups, but thought Jose was more committed than that, obviously not! I think he's kidding himself if he thinks he's going to play too many games as a 33 year old at any big club. He's made plenty of mistakes this season, other clubs might have dropped their interest.

Well said!

I'd keep him. Especially if we loose Mané, as seems likely, we would be saying goodbye to a lot of goals. And I think he hasn't been looking for a move, we've just not been offering him a new contract.

To be honest, if one of the management team in the company we own told us they would stay if we doubled their wages, even if we thought they were excellent at their job, and could afford it at a stretch, we wouldn't do it. We would know that their heart wasn't in the right place, and they wouldn't be committed. You can't just see it as weakness if they give permission for Everton to talk to him. I expect Les and the board are fed up with this regular turmoil and want someone who will commit for the long term. I see on Radio 5 tonight they mentioned that Klopp had said that, if any of his players started making noises about moving, he would have them out the door straight away, as he wanted everyone hundred percent committed (talking about Coutinho). Funnily enough, where Liverpool were concerned, they seemed to agree that this was a show of strength rather than weakness!

Mods - Any chance of a poll - "You're the Chairman"
Jackie@home replied to ooh it's a corner's topic in The Saints
I heard that the club called a meeting of all the staff at the of the season, announcing that they were definitely going to try and push on this season and aim for Champions League football. Apparently, the meeting was very positive. Shortly afterwards, 3 players signed long-term contracts, so they were obviously convinced we are on the right lines as a club. Perhaps the club are not convinced by Koeman's commitment. If his head is easily turned by Everton, is he really the man we want? -
Absolutely brilliant! Just what we've been missing, someone to finish off teams when we've been dominating, or someone to take the one chance when we haven't. Typical of the big teams not trying to sign him - the old cliche about if he was called Carlo Austino they would all be in for him is true.

Confirmed: Caulker loan cancelled; Moves on loan to Liverpool
Jackie@home replied to Maggie May's topic in The Saints
Good riddance! Glad to see the back of him. I know Liverpool are desperate, but it shows the dearth of good centre backs available. -
Pundits contradicted themselves by saying you must not sell your best players, but that you couldn't blame the players for wanting to go to teams like Man U. Well, what are you supposed to do, when our supposedly best players start causing trouble and play at 50%? Shame they weren't pinned down to answering that question!
-
Yes, quite funny, isn't it? Levy's policy of unsettling players then trying to buy them on the never-never (Peace said £5m up front for Berahino) or offering a pittance (like Morgan last year) seems to have backfired !!
-
I think you might have Walcott in instead of Forte!
-
A pathetic cheat, as well as incompetent. Typical Anfield refereeing - they wouldn't have even made the Europa League without it.
-
Can't believe our Jordy Clasie signing didn't even get a mention! I would like their explanation for this.

Even if you wanted to do a Man City now you can't ; Financial Fair Play may stop clubs getting in to such financial trouble, but it also preserves the status quo, which is why you have to get your commercial income drastically improved. You can spend more if you make more.

Don't think Cahill has had his best season. Jose has been extremely consistent for us - he'll get my vote for Player of the Season. Well done to Ryan, though, well deserved.

Cup tickets - were any posted out to ST holders?
Jackie@home replied to Jackie@home's topic in The Saints
Yes, exactly the same as me. The e-mail confirmation actually states that tickets will be posted to your address, provided they are ordered by 3pm 3 days prior to the fixture, unless you have selected Print@home. I couldn't see anywhere that I was given this option. I couldn't see anything on the Ticketing section of the website that states that the tickets would be added on to your ST. If it is, it must be well hidden! -
Cup tickets - were any posted out to ST holders?
Jackie@home replied to Jackie@home's topic in The Saints
Strange that they posted the Ipswich tickets out then, as we had our own seats. Otherwise I wouldn't have handed over my season tickets so quickly! Hopefully, with so many people now being able to print at home or already having queued up, the queues won't be quite as bad as they have been in the past before Cup matches. -
When I ordered our Ipswich tickets on-line, I received them in the post. I assumed the Palace ones were the same because I only saw the options to post or collect. However, just seen the Smartcard Activation on my confirmation. Unfortunately, I've already lent my brother our season tickets because we're away for the Swansea game. Just wondered if they were likely to turn up in the post tomorrow, or I have to drive to Somerset to retrieve my Season Tickets - great!

Lots of top managers will want the Barca job once the transfer embargo is over, but when you can't sign any players would rather wait until the job comes around again.

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 1-1 Ipswich Town
Jackie@home replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Glad they'll get a decent rest before Man U. I'm sure tiredness played a part yesterday. I can't understand why Ipswich didn't make more effort to try to win this one; with 46 league games and second in the table, I'd have thought they would want a replay as much as we do. I wouldn't have a go at Pelle because he must be knackered, playing 90 mins in every game, usually up against 2 physical central defenders, it's just the lack of alternatives. It's a shame Liverpool wouldn't let Ricky come back to us on loan, seeing us as rivals rather than relegation fodder, but if he could have shared the workload with Pelle, this would have been ideal. Ipswich packed 10 men behind the ball, and then you need a ball to break for you in the box, without a player with that something extra. Looking forward to seeing our new signing. He'll be fresh and fast, just what we need. -
Yes, I agree. They may not have got the decision regarding the penalty, but plenty of others decisions went their way, which could have lead to a dangerous attack by us. Pelle was constantly penalised for being strong and beating Terry and Cahill in the air. He wasn't backing in; are we not allowed to challenge for the ball without Chelsea players whingeing to the ref? Apparently not.

Sheff Utd 1-0 Saints Post match carnage.

I can forgive JWP for this one. He shouldn't have had to play 90 mins after being out for 10 weeks. All started to go wrong when Corky and Morgan were injured at the same time. -

Too right! If Spurs wanted Mitchell, they are welcome to him, if this is the dross it turns out.
