He needs game time but think the potential is still high

For me Baz kwp. Thb. Bed. Stephens Downes arribo Brooks Arma. Mara. Fraser just cannot bring myself to hope for che up front, that moment in the second half where he miscontrolled the ball slipped over and in doing so blocked arribo from shooting was just che in a nutshell 😆 the guy is just a disaster in the box, yes he can hold the ball up better then Mara but I don’t think it’s worth the trade off.. the other tempting option is maybe to go with a midfield trio of downes smallbone and aribo with brooks on the right instead .. this one probably gives us our most solid midfield possible think aribo still provides some creativity too Aribo for me is a absolute must start at the moment looks to have a bit of everything and could be just as important as downes imo

He’s done s cracking job with us but last night was on russ! In games we have started rothwell that’s now 8 conceded in 3 isn’t it ? None of the trio of rothwell,smallbone and stuey offer much steel and to make it worse Stephens dropped for manning after a good clean sheet at West Brom hopefully it turns out a blessing as Martin should now be clear in never fielding such a weak midfield again .

What do you guys think our chances are of signing brooks on a perm in the summer should we reach the prem ? super impressed with him so far and would love us to go all out for him . Might be looking at 25m up though ?

I’d stick with Mara with the hope his ceiling could be higher ..he’s still never really had a run of starts .. getting used to playing week in week out with the team could do wonders for his confidence and ability to gel with team mates. With che we have seen him week in week out for years and know exactly what you get and what you don’t mara at the moment as a squad player is kind of in the position where if he comes off the bench or has a start and doesn’t score or have a lot of impact he’s instantly seen as not good enough again for him to reach his potential he needs game time

Either way the likes of Aribo and Arma where not the reasons for us being relegated .. as they where hardly first team regulars ... we are playing a totally different type of football now whilst before for the likes of Ralph and selles off the ball was everything hence elyounossi consistently chosen over the likes of edozie . We didn’t have much of the ball and didn’t win many matches think there’s a fair chance under martins tutelage they could do a lot better this time around and deserve a clean slate.

Not too worried myself unless he was to target russ as well .. we have still been going for a lot of ex city under him(understandable) but we where doing this pre Wilcox anyway martin gets all the credit for me

He’s been terrific this season . Big shout out to Martin for bringing him back from the cold.. another great thing with arribo is he seems ultra versatile where he can play too,AM,Cm even up front like he did with rangers.at the moment he’s been so good I think we need to find a starting spot for him but russ does seem to see smallbone as a locked in starter

Bemuses me why everyone is so harsh and quick to judge .. according to the experts Arribo was the most lazy shit player ever AA total rubbish .. same for Mara,Fraser rubbish with a attitude problem. How about give the players a chance ?

Yeah the way he curls shots into the corner,, reminds me of ings. Good to have a player that has a bit of composure

If everyone is fit id go this .. baz kwp. Thb. Bed. Manning Downes smallbone Brooks AA. Mara. Fraser putting brooks in the 10 allows him to be our key creator , his vision and through passes are top notch and he can excel here without having to disrupt Arma on the right.also makes us a bit stronger defensively on the right as Arma puts himself about more ., I’d give Mara the nod over che for the finishing ability and think his off the shoulder runs could combine better with brooks.. lastly Fraser In on the left just for me as he earned it whilst the other 2 where injured .. I like all three players for this position but it’s West Brom away so let’s play the safest option with the best end product

To number 2: going forward I think maybe playing brooks as a 10 might be the solution we then get to keep Arma where he’s most effective and I could easily see brooks being our most creative 10. thoughts on the January window: it’s again looking like we have failed to address the obvious whilst making all our moves in positions we didn’t really need again,we seem to love doing this. the positions that needed attention was cf (still don’t really have a clinical striker and it’s been a issue for ages) lb and also defensive midfield as bar downes we have little. Instead we make signings in the positions we are absolutely loaded in. Not sure why it’s so hard to recognise the weaknesses and concentrate on those, most people can see them

Unreal level of doom on here today . Come on guys we went 25 matches unbeaten plus just showed the spirit to turn around the Huddersfield game . Maybe that game zapped our energy and combined with losing downes and a few changes contributed to the poor performance vs Bristol, but this is not a crisis and our bench is of frightening quality ., sure we can get back to winning ways soon enough, you don’t go 25 unbeaten by accident

I kinda agree with this,, I kept going on during the window that our obsession with bringing in a right winger when we have Armstrong with the best stats in the league was unnecessary. brooks does look amazing,but there’s a saying if it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it. Personally think we should go back to the side that mostly was the one during the unbeaten run now. Get Armstrong and Fraser back in in their proper positions and go from there. Use as close to a proven side for this one as we don’t need two bad results in a row

Yeah I agree the other two have done more this season. But don’t forget sulemana’s season has been heavily disrupted with injury at the start and then the later one.. whilst you are right that the other two have contributed more. I think this guy has an insanely high ceiling with his pace and skills he can fly past anyone and can be terrifying for defenders.if we can get him going and get his confidence soaring sky is the limit for him . We need to be carefull how to handle our talents with so much competition. Don’t want him getting frustrated and getting another alcaraz situation (same goes for the others ) so maybe a bit of rotation with the attacking players is the way to go

Can see where you are coming from, but I’d chose sully cos I think he has the highest ceiling out of any of our attacking players. His pace and unpredictability gives the opponents something else to think about . russ was also preferring him to both Fraser and edozie before the injury too so he must rate him highly

Usually I’m all for keeping a settled team but since this comes so fast after Saturday let’s switch it up a bit and get some of the others involved Baz kwp. Thb bed. Mannning Charles Smallbone rothwell brooks Sule Mara

Would be unbelievably harsh to drop Arma he’s got the best attacking stats in the league..although I agree it is tempting to give Arma a game as the 9 with Brooks rw to see how it goes.. It’s gonna be interesting to see how russ handles this bunch from now. We have had a pretty settled side which has been a big factor in our amazing run .. but now we have the likes of Brooke’s sulemana, rothwell,edozie and Mara all pushing for starts maybe we will start to see some rotation going on

Not currently fitting isn’t really the case, I think it’s just competition for places and Armstrong and arribo also doing well.. we are gonna have a simular problem with the likes of Fraser edozie and sulemana now Fraser deserves his place but the other two could get frustrated

If that was the case fair enough .. but you know we won’t spend 40m on a striker.we will be spending that money on the next bargain basement young prospect that we can potentially make a profit on

Yeah lucky little us .. fact is he is/was still our player we look to be in with a great chance of going back up so if we wanted to keep him ? its not like juve have coughed up the readys yet just seems like we are prioritising increasing his value more then what he can do in the pitch for us that’s the part I find depressing don’t we want these young stars to be good for saints ?

Although him having a mare might be our best chance of getting him back :).. its still a bit depressing really that we are loaning out our hottest talents, I get that he wasn’t starting every game and why he want the move, but it does seem a bit keen from us to get him out the door in hope of profit

Even though he wasn’t starting that much at the beginning .. I think Fraser is seriously vying for player of the season. Seems to impact pretty much every game with goals and assists .. So much end product with the wee man, great striker of the ball and fantastic attitude too
